I was lucky enough to have a mother that nurtured my love of the sensual and natural world at a young age. Classical piano, gymnastics and voice lessons colored my days as did horticulture, water color paints and oils. I have memories of my Cuban mother running to boil a flower instead of giving antibiotics if my brother or I were sick.
