Perfumer Shelley Waddington of En Voyage Perfumes

"The creation of a perfume is an act of love, whether real or imaginary. I am romantic. I couldn’t imagine living without dreams.” – Nina Ricci

Shelley Waddington of En Voyage Perfumes announces that her dream of providing a well-appointed, luxurious and comfortable destination for fragrance and perfume lovers has at last come true. The En Voyage Perfume Atelier and Fragrance Gardens will open its doors for the first time in October, 2017.

The interior of EnVoyage Atelier and En Voyage Perfumes

The En Voyage Perfume Atelier is located in beautiful Portland, Oregon, and now offers a destination for visitors to enjoy Shelley’s display of fragrances, bath, body and room products, along with her budding new line of bitters and liqueurs. In the spacious atelier, guests can also view an interactive display of curated exotic perfume treasures and perfumer’s secrets, participate in perfume classes and events, view her herbarium and apothecary of cruelty-free perfume fixatives.

The EnVoyage Atelier is a place to dream and explore.Imagine sipping lavender tea while learning, blending, reading and researching at your leisure in our extensive perfume library. If creative classes and events are more your style, you’ll soon be able to choose from an intriguing schedule of upcoming events And it’s everything we’ve been dreaming of since the very beginning of our scent journey."

The Fragrant Garden

Visitors are invited to "stroll Shelley's wooded perfume gardens and view botanicals whose fragrances have long inspired many famous perfumes. Fragrant daphne and heliotrope nestle among copper arbors of roses and Poet’s jasmine".

Peace Rose, Roselily, Heliotrope and  White peony from Shelley's garden

"Enchanting violets and fern peek from behind witch hazel and pine trees; grapes and rhododendrons are ensconced among rosemary, mint, peonies, tulips, voodoo and rose lilies.  Cistus labdanum and osmanthus are classic perfume plants used since ancient times. A charming rustic greenhouse will provide a future home for dwarf ylang ylang, gardenia, fragrant orchids and other exotic perfume flowers."

EnVoyage Muse

When Shelley started her perfume business in 2010, she chose the name En Voyage (translated from French it means “travelling”) because it evokes an avid journey in perfume and in life. Her slogan became, “Every scent has a journey, every journey has a scent”.  She even adopted a “Traveling Muse!"  Shelley also selected this name because every En Voyage perfume contains fragrance elements from many distant shores. “We are all dream-seekers, and what is a journey if not a dream come true? The name En Voyage is a metaphor for her dream that the people of the world are truly an extended family.

Exotic Island soaps

The date of the public community grand opening will be announced in mid-October, along with the arrival of a monthly schedule of unique sniffing, tasting, blending and making events. The En Voyage Atelier and Fragrance Gardens Private Invitational Opening takes place on Saturday, October 7, 2017.  "Members of the 2nd Annual Portland Perfume Sniff will be welcomed to our Open Studio and will enjoy a mini-Continental breakfast of handmade scones, Devon cream, artisan strawberry preserves, locally roasted coffee, lavender and bergamot breakfast tea and sparkling Clementine. Fragrance lovers both local and from around the world are warmly invited to visit and enjoy!"

  • This perfumery looks beautiful! I browsed the website and love that they also make bath and body products. The fragrance that really grabbed me is Souvenir de Chocolate Trio – Café Cacao. I love gourmand chocolate scents!

    I live in the US.

  • This is a great project as it allows visitors to learn about the ingredients that go into making perfumes as well as freely explore Shelley’s works. The visitors also have opportunity to increase their technical knowledge of perfumery through classes and seminars. My choice will be Zelda. I am in the US.

  • What I would like is the strolling of the perfume gardens. My choice for this draw would be Zelda. USA

  • First of all, I can’t say enough on how much I adore Shelley’s work… She is the nose behind my all time favorite fragrance (Hummingbird), and have a godlike skill to extract the best from flowers aromas…
And that is EXACTLY what I liked the most about the new atelier:

You get the chance to see a beatiful place with gorgeous and rich flowers, where she gets her inspiration from, and also feel like on a journey with her, by seeing each of her beautiful works and be surrounded by that “chic, classy and modern” atmosphere that I got from these pictures.

I would like to join the draw, please.
The En Voyage Perfume that I’d love to get is Zelda, and I’m from Brazil.

  • What an amazing dream to bring to life. The idea of gardens combined with smelling great perfumes *and getting to mix!* along with some libations brings a tear to the eye of this cubicle-farmer
I would love to try anything but Cafe de Cacao sounds so interesting, it would be my pick.
I live in Canada but my heart belongs to Portland.

  • Elaine Richard says:

I would love to visit your garden, smelling the exotic flowers. My first perfume choice would be Nectar del Iles, but I’m also intrigued by Zelda.
I live in California, Bay Area. Congrats on your new presentation.

  • DNEM. Brava Shelley, it’s finally open and looks beautiful. Wish I could be there for the grand opening! So glad you’re finally realized the dream, you deserve it and so much more.
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ XOXO

Amongst many, I’d like to try Zelda.

  • Wonderful review. These perfumes sounds all very nicely. If I would win, I would chose Café Cacao. Thank you very much for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • I have wanted to try her Carmel de Ville for a while, as I do love her gourmands. It pleases me that the storefront will be located in Portland as I do get there once in a while, so looking forward to participating in a class as well. I live in the US. Thanks for the chance! 🙂

  • Good to know Juan is okay. Excited to know that there will soon be a storefront since I live across the river from Portland. I will sign up for her newsletter straight away so I can check out the events!! I have never heard of “Portland Sniff”. I shall check into that as well. If I am the lucky winner, I would choose “Go Ask Alice”. Thanks for the info!!!

  • Congratulations Shelly on your beautiful new space! I would love to wander in the beautiful fragrant garden, smelling plants and flowers that don’t grow here in the US Midwest. I would love to win Captured in Amber. I bought Café Cacao last winter and a sample of CiA was included, it’s the best amber perfume I’ve ever smelled. Thanks!

  • What a beautiful space to sample a new fragrance. It will be wonderful to walk in the garden, smelling the fragrant plants. I’ve heard so many good things about Portland. Now there is a good reason to finally visit. I’d choose Rainmaker if I were the winner.
    I live in the USA.

  • What a paradise on earth! Congratulations Shelley! I’d love to win Go Ask Alice in memory of my hippy past. So glad to hear that Juan M. Perez is safe.

  • It’s so hard to say, since I’ve only tried a few scents and adored all of them – Hummingbird is just spectacularly beautiful. And Zelda is one I’ve been meaning to try; Indigo Violet is my ultimate comfort scent, so maybe I’d stick with that since my sample will eventually be done…
Her store/library sounds incredible, and what I most love about it is how accessible it is regardless of individual preferences. Highly desirable destination! I’m in SF Bay area so will be making a stop there sooner than later.
Thank you so much for the draw! I’m definitely a fan.

  • I’d love to win The 7% Solution or Rainmaker. This sounds like a incredible get away. I only wish that I lived closer to what seems to be a fairyland of fragrance. Fragrant gardening is so rewarding. This must go on my bucket list. Congratulations to Shelley. Thanks for the draw. I live in the USA

  • I’d like to win Durango. If I was paying a visit to Shelley’s atelier I’d head straight for the wooded gardens, rain or shine, they look so calming, then amble back inside to smell the mysterious treasures laid out on the table. I live in the UK.

  • Thank you all for your enthusiasm and kind comments. I believe that this may be the first perfume garden and perfumery, at least here in the US. And I hope that we will be a future destination for each and every one of you. I would so like to meet you all!

Thank you CaFleureBon for your amazing support through the years. You have helped us to arrive at this wonderful occasion. We’re looking forward to many more exciting things with you in the future!

  • Oh, that garden is so nice. It must be wonderful to walk around and smell the beautiful scents of the flowers and woods. I would like to win Zelda. I live in EU. Thank you Shelley and Cafleurebon for a wonderful draw!

  • This looks like such a great destination! I would love to try Zelda. I have several other En Voyage perfumes and I love their richness and complexity. USA. Thank you for the draw.

  • It sounds wonderful, Shelley. I am so excited for you! We should compare our scent gardens- Northern Ohio’s Zone 5 versus Portland’s Zone 8, lol!
I am determined to visit one day!
