Rouge Bunny Rouge INCOGNITO Perfume

Creative Director Alexandra de Montfort of Rouge Bunny Rouge has worked with three talented women perfumers to create the Fragrance Confections and Provenance Tales collections; Sonia Constant of Givaudan, Nathalie Lorson of Firmenich and Shyamalya Maisondieu.  Alexandra fell in love with Shiseido Feminite du Bois in 1992 and fell down the “rabbit” hole.  With Incognito, the newest addition to the Provenance Tales line, Alexandra wanted to capture the overwhelming power and narcotic like addiction of perfume itself.

Shyamala maisondieu of givaudan perfumer

Shyamala Maisondieu of Givaudan

She enlisted Shyamala Maisondieu (Givaudan) to capture an enigmatic musky leather oriental, with a bold plum note, a powdery cherry-like Heliotrope, (perhaps a nod to Feminitie du Bois). Alexandra on Shymala, “Shyamala creates fragrances with strong signatures. I believe creation comes easy for some and for some it is a product of pain, struggle and soul searching. In this respect Shyamala is a kindred spirit. At one point while explaining to her the depth of emotion I wanted to achieve, I became teary eyed and I could see this mirror effect in her. .”  Incognito has a fiery and magnetic start of Pink Pepper Orpur and Pimento Berry Oil. Almost instantly, a powerful punch of Prunol (think Dior Poison circa 1985) takes over.  There is a storm of sensual floral provocations –  fleshy Ylang-Ylang,  the apricot tinged leather Osmanthus Absolute tempered with French Orris Butter. The dry-down is a soft afterglow of Musk and patchouli, dusted with heliotrope.

TOP: Pink Peppercorn CO2 Orpur, Pimento Berry Oil, Plum
HEART: Ylang-Ylang Mohéli, Osmanthus Absolute, Orris Butter
BASE: Patchouli Indonesia, Suede, Musk, Heliotrope

Disclosure: I received my samples from Rouge Bunny Rouge.

It’s amazing some brands are not afraid to seek inspiration from Classics..i am also a huge fan of Shiseido’s past classics such as Feminite du Bois, Murasaki, Saso, and of course, Nombre Noir. If it has cherry like/ plum like feel of FDB, I expect to be impressed. thanks for the lovely draw. I am in the US

  • I love plum and heliotrope notes in perfumes … add in leather and this sounds perfect for me! I have not yet had the pleasure of sampling any from the line, but I am intrigued.

thank you for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • The Plum, Orris Butter, Suede and Musk all sound wonderful! My fave RBR is Lilt. I live in the U.S. Thanks for the draw!!

  • Gosh, you had me at “overwhelming power and narcotic like addiction of perfume itself.” I’m in the US, and have yet to try any Rouge Bunny Rouge perfumes.

  • The notes for this fragrance sound amazing, I would love to try it. Actually I have never had the chance to sample RBR, I am in Australia.

  • Plummy musky powdery leather sounds wonderful. I haven’t yet tried anything from Rouge Bunny Rouge, and I’m in the US.

  • I have fallen in love with Shiseido’s Feminite du Bois and I am certain that this perfume will become my second big love because of its notes that make this smell “an enigmatic musky leather oriental”.
I live in EU and I never had the chance to smell any Rouge Bunny Rouge perfume, hope I do in the future

  • I am very curious about the bold plum note 🙂 My favorite RBR perfume is Tundra, and I am in the US. Thank you!

  • I love big perfumes, and Incognito sounds like it aspires to be one of those. I find the name an interesting choice. To me, Incognito sounds like something that would pass unnoticed. This perfume sounds like that is not the case. I am in the US. I do not know any RBR perfumes.

I am so taken with the story of the making of this perfume: “At one point while explaining to her the depth of emotion I wanted to achieve, I became teary eyed and I could see this mirror effect in her.” Every time I read about Alexandra de Monfort I am moved. I still have never tried any Rouge Bunny Rouge scents! And I love the smell of orris butter! In the US. . .thanks! 🙂

My kumu hula just gifted me a jar of her precious homemade crack seed (preserved/dried fruit, often seasoned or soaked in syrup) for the holidays. She makes it with Li Hing (powdered plum, sometimes mixed with licorice root powder), salt, sugar, and a splash of whiskey. Oh, god, that is heavenly stuff. I will ration it for the whole year, drawing out the pleasure of each “hit” I allow myself. I see a similarity not just in notes but in effect between this manna and Incognito, and what an overload of bliss it would be to float in a cloud of this scent while savoring the layers of tastes to be enjoyed in Kumu’s seeds.

Mahalo for the draw; I’m in the US.

  • The heart of Incognito sounds lovely. My fave RBR is probably Tundra.

I am in the US. Thanks for the draw.

  • Plum and heliotrope always get my attention! I feel quite silly for always being so “behind the times” — I had not worked out the brand Rouge Bunny Rouge and Alexandra de Montfort’s story up to now. An early Shiseido perfume as inspiration can only mean a ‘bewitching’ fragrance!! Now curious to try this line. In The Netherlands. Thanks for the draw!

  • Interesting idea to capture the “addiction of perfume.” Heliotrope with ylang ylang and Prunol of Dior Poison sounds interesting. I have not tested any Rouge Bunny Rouge, so far. I am in the EU

  • Osmanthus, Orris and Pink Peppercorn and plum.. I have fallen in love with a wild plum hydrosol I have been working with. Can’t wait to smell this powerful emotional blend.

  • Cynthia Richardson says:

The pink peppercorn topnote of Incognito appeals to me. I live in the US and have not yet had the pleasure of wearing a Rouge Bunny Rouge scent.

  • Fascinating idea,to capture the”overwhelming power and narcotic addiction” of perfume!the heart notes sound divine, yang ylang, soma thus and orris butter!Have not had the chance to try this line yet,I live in Spain, thank you for this draw!

  • Everything about this has me written all over it! Musky leather oriental? Yes. Heliotrope? Yes! Thanks, I’m in the US.
