New Perfume Review: Il Profumo Caramella D’Amore + A Poem to My Mom Renee by The Nosey Artist Draw

Mother’s Day has always had a special place in my heart, growing up with my loving mother Renee and my sister Erica who is also a single mother of two boys. My first scent memory of my mother is how wonderful she smelled in Tom Ford Black Orchid. I never knew perfumes marketed to women could be worn by men until I ran out of cologne, borrowed her perfume and wore it on a date.

I've always known how fortunate those of us who have our mothers still in our lives truly are. Caramella  D’Amore by Il Profvmo is an ode to the bond of a mother and daughter, but I believe it can be an ode to the bond of a mother and her children. Created by the founder of Il Profvmo, Silvana Casoli masterfully blends beautiful sweet florals with gourmand like notes of candy apple and white violet to create a beautiful feminine fragrance that develops and blossoms on the skin so perfectly that it's like vicariously living through a mother who is watching her child grow and master the different stages of life. The opening is sweet and calming followed by the uplifting aroma of white violet that's cloaked in the warmth of amber, vanilla, and velvet, it's like getting a hug from your mother after an extended absence from each other's lives, or the feeling you got when for the first time your mother said, “I’m proud of you”. The fragrance is perfect for all seasons, but I believe the cold weather would bring the amber out more while the warmer seasons would give more attention to the florals and opening notes, sillage is subtle and longevity is 5 hours plus.

Notes: pistachio slivers, Carmelites walnuts, cotton candy, pop corn, white iris, vanilla, white violet

Mother’s Milk by The Nosey Artist

My heart my love,

I place no one above

I am for ever in debt,

For all that you've done

Since my birth you were first,

There to quench my thirst

I am for ever in debt,

For who I have become

Your touch is like silk,

Healing words so soft

Nothing like mother’s milk,

Nothing like it at all

You’re tried and true,

You've always come through

Nothing like mother’s milk,

Nothing like it all

When the sky fell,

You became my umbrella

When I was in hell,

You came to visit me often

I developed a hard shell,

Became bitter from losses

But always mother’s milk,

Turned me back to my true self

My heart my love,

I place no one above

I am forever in debt,

For all that you've done

Since my birth you were first,

There to quench my thirst

I am forever in debt,

For whom I have become

The Nosey Artist feels caramelle d’amore doesn’t reflect the bond between a mother and daughter only but a mother and any of her child. I have known about Silvana Casoli for a while since she also created a perfume for Pope Benedict. Really excited at the opportunity to try so many IL Profumo fragrances. One of my favorite mom’s memory is her falling in love with eau sauvage extreme and actually wearing it herself. Thanks a lot for the generous draw. I am in the US

  • I loved the joyful picture of The Nosey Artist with his sister and mother. One of my favorite scent memories of my mother is of her wearing Ysatis, which was her first perfume purchase many, many years ago. I am in the US, thank you!

  • What great photos of The Nosey Artist and his mother and sister
I enjoyed mothers milk-poem as wellCaramello d’amore sounds yummy
My favorite scent memory of my mother was her bottle of Tresor
It smelled heavenly and I remember always trying to get really close to hug her so some would get on me
    Happy Mother’s Day

Il Profvmo’s Caramella d’Amore sounds comforting and delicious. I love a perfume that feels like a good hug. Thank you for the review. The Nosey Artist touched my heart with the words “when the sky fell, you became my umbrella.” Perfect words for mothers and the protectors in our lives.

My sister and I engaged in a friendly fragrance game when we were teenagers. My father gifted to me a bottle of Lauren which I rarely wore, so my sister took to wearing it when I wasn’t home. I could always smell the evidence because Lauren was so distinctive. I would hide the bottle from my sister again and again, but she always found it. Eventually I hid it in her bedroom (surprise!), and it became her signature scent for years.

The picture and the poem really touched my heart. so much love and gratitude expressed. One of my fondest scent memories of my mother is when she started wearing Lancome Poeme when I was in college. I think it was because I was away so much that when I got to smell her, it really became an overwhelming sensational experience – her warm hugs, her sweet scent. I keep a small bottle of it on hand to remind me of her.

Finally get to put a name to the face. 🙂 My sister wore Heaven Scent. I loved that smell. I enjoyed the first paragraph when the Nosey Artist realized fragrances marketed to women could be worn by men. US

  • I love that Nosey Artist was introduced to crossover/unisex perfumes by borrowing his Mom’s perfume. And I like how his love and appreciation for his Mom shine through the words of his rap. My Mom was not a perfume wearer. She had the same bottles on her vanity literally her whole life: Oscar de La Renta, a tiny old Wind Song bottle, and a little Channel No. 5. I diid not inherit her edited ways with perfume. She would not believe my perfume cabinet today, if she were still alive! She was a product of the Depression era, very frugal, but still filled our lives with beauty, on a budget. Miss her every day. USA

  • I love the idea of the feeling of the first time your mother said she was proud of you. That is such a heartwarming idea – I hope that one day when my son is older he’ll have fond memories of that as well. The love for his mother is clear from the Nosey Artist’s prose, and it is so touching. Thanks for this draw, I’m in the US.

  • I love the line…Forever in your debt to whom I have become….I feel the same way about my Mother and have expressed such often:) As far as smells…my Mother wasn’t much for fragrances but she worked her guts out working countless nights for us kids and so just natural smell with hard work mixed in:) Im in the USA. 🙂

  • Another great review from the Nosey Artist and a wonderful poem for mom! I concur with “forever in your debt to whom I have become.” My fondest scent memory of my mom would be in sixth grade English class as she was my teacher. Back then my mom wore Cinnabar by Estee Lauder and I remember she was giving us a test and she was walking around the classroom to make sure that we were all doing okay and that no one had any questions. I remember the trail of her scent as it went up and down the aisle and then as she went back to her desk. Years later I was hanging out with some friends and one of them told me that she wears Cinnabar because of mom and all I could do is smile. I live in the US and thanks for the draw! 🙂

  • I enjoyed the review and The Nosey Artist’s Poem/prose to his mother and sister. One of my fondest scent memories of my mother is when I bought her perfume nips (tiny glass ampules filled with rebottled French perfume extracts) for Christmas. The ends of each nip were painted a color that corresponded to the booklet to tell you what you had. She would always let me choose the color (fragrance) she would wear when she went out. I remember purple was Chanel No. 5.
