What is the sign of a true perfumista? A bottle of one of Memo Paris's exclusive fragrances sits on your dresser. This year, John and Clara Molloy, the founders of Memo introduce two fragrances- Quartier Latin is the one that debuts September (Luxor Oud is the other more information soon).
If you are unfamiliar with the brand, John Molloy, an Irishman, met his wife Clara ( a native of Andelusia) on a chairlift in 2005. Clara wrote a book in 2006 about great noses and that is how they met the renowned perfumer, Aliénor Massenet, a perfumer with IFF. Aliénor had worked for seven years in New York with IFF alongside the great perfumer Sofia Grosjman, before heading to Paris (Antidote by Victor&Rolf, Jasmin by Armani Prive, Only the Brave by Diesel, Eau de fleurs by Chloé, Parlez-moi d’amour by John Galliano, Trésor in Love by Lancôme and Intuition by Lauder are just a few of her many creations). Travel and scent were two of their passions, and in 2007 Memo was launched and Madame Massenet has been the nose for the line ever since. Each perfume evokes a memory, a place…in and out of time. The collection is called Les Échappées (escapes) and with Quartier Latin we head to Paris…

It arose from an event that has gone down in the history of the city and its Eiffel architecture, Art Deco: the celebration of the 160th anniversary of the Bon Marché department store, the temple of luxury and fashion in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, founded in 1852. For the occasion, the store invited Memo to capture the spirit of their location on rue de Sèvres".
