New Niche Fragrance: Arquiste Boutonneire No.7 “A Night at The Opera”

Carlos Huber, an architect  specializing in Historical Preservation and founder of Arquiste Parfumeur introduces the  7th pefume, Boutonneire No. 7 composed by Givaudaun Perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. We are transported to an evening at the Opera just before the turn of the 20th century.

May 1899, Foyer of the Opéra-Comique, Paris

During the Opera’s intermission, a group of seven young men gather at the Grand Foyer in search of new flirtations. Women of all sorts are lured in by the crisp, green scent of the men’s gardenia boutonnieres, enlivened with the bergamot and lavender colognes they wear. As they draw closer, the “Opera Flower” exudes its elegant masculinity, the last breath of a bloom sacrificed on a black-tie lapel.

To celebrate the launch of its seventh scent, Arquiste has partnered with men’s fine jewelry creators M. de Phocas to create a  limited edition and numbered set of a special gardenia stick-pin boutonniere, as well as a pair of elegant silk knot cufflinks.

Notes include: Lavender, Bergamot, Italian Mandarin, Gardenia jasminoides/Gardenia citriodora duo, Genet absolute, Vetivert, Oak Moss

$175; 55 ml Eau de Parfum; $195 Deluxe Limited Edition w/ Boutonniere by M. de Phocas

  • The opera connection is very appealing to me ,having been an opera singer in my childhood. The notes sound lovely as well. I have always been curious about genet (broom) absolute but have yet to sample it.

  • I really like the sound of this Arquiste is a great line and I especially like Alexandre. Wasn’t as fond of LEtrog as chandler burr though
Men should wear more flowers in their fragrances so I can’t wait for you guys to review

  • I like the Arquiste line, though it’s not ‘love’. I scent El O in Fracas and Un Rose, to great effect (women love it!) – and would love to see men wearing more flower scents (Kilian Rose Oud is astonishing on a man!). The idea of gardenia, lavender and bergamot is wonderful – and should be worn by whomever loves it!
