Keiko Mecheri Isles Lointaines & Tuberose: Passport to Perfumed Isles + Take Me Away Draw

Life is never calm for long, whom amongst us doesn't deserve a vacation? As a kid I remember the Calgon commercial which featured a housewife that desperately needed a break from her chaotic home life. The woman in the ad spoke the magical words, “Calgon take me away” and voila she is transported into a soothing bubble bath .

Perfumes are my Calgon. No matter what may be going on in my life, a spritz or two of a beautiful scent will take me to another place.

It is no surprise that Keiko Mecheri’s two newest additions will ‘take you away’ to an exotic South Seas island -Isles Lointaines. Next stop Hawaii or  the mysterious Comores Isles –Tuberose. (
I was first introduced to 'Get Away' Parfums Keiko Mecheri in my first review for CafleureBon).  Isles Lointaines and Tuberose are the two latest travelogues by Keiko Mecheri; these two new floral compositions are sensuality incarnate.

Isles Lointaines

Isles Lointaines is a tale of the South Pacific. I am reminded of the late1970's TV series Fantasy Island, and can almost hear “zeee plane zeee plane”. Upon my arrival, I am caressed by a warm breeze wafting gardenia and jasmine. After I have unpacked and changed into something comfortable, I roamed the beach and found a treasure; a piece of amber has washed up onto shore; a memorable tale of 'three white mistresses' on the beach.

Tuberose

Heady and  intoxicating, this perfume evokes the leis first given to tourists as they arrive in Hawaii,( this rose that is not a rose but a species of lily). Tuberose is not just yet another soliflore, but something more spectacular. This scent is of a stunning woman … magnificent and alone. I take her hand.  As the evening continues, (the jasmine notes bloom), we dance for hours. Sudddenly, I turn around and she has left my side; she is seducing another. I am left with the lasting memory of her scent still in the evening air, as she disappears into the night.

Keiko Mecheri, once again, took me away to faraway places. I look forward to many journeys traveling on “Air Mecheri’.

Mario T. Gomez, Contributor

Editor’s Note: I have used the art of the French painter Paul Jacoulet, who blends the French, South Pacifican and Asian sensiblities I associate with these two fragrances

Thanks to Keiko Mecheri, we have a draw to cure your wintertime blues. Four lucky winners will receive a 15ml sample set of both Isles Lointaines & Tuberose.

  • A vacation would be fabulous, working hard everyday is my reason, but i would love to win the the samples. I am a huge KM fan especially her Attar de Roses and Les Zazous are amazing. And the Loukhoum is a super star all by itself, my to reach for comfort scent.

  • I deserve a vacation because I have not had a real one in a very long time, and Tahiti is my dream destination!
I would love to try both of these Keiko Mecheri scents because I am a huge fan of tropical white floral perfumes, just can't get enough!  🙂

  • These both sound lovely, and I love tropical-themed scents – they do take me away to the islands I love. I have never tried any in this line – this would be the perfect opportunity!

  • A vacation would be fabulous…someplace warm, someplace virtually uninhabited,  someplace where "formal dress" means "wear shoes" ….why?  because I haven't been on a vacation in  20 years? (no, I'm not kidding—I don't go on vacations!)   and because I'm totally kicking myself in my own fairly padded fanny for passing on the recent split of Attar de Roses!  How in the world does "oh no, I've been spending far too much" compare in any way to  ROSES???  *kick, kick, kick*
I'd love to be entered in the draw.
and also –thanks to Keiko Mecheri for generously supplying ginormous samples and to the wonderful folks at CaFleureBon for making yet another fab drawing available to us winter-weary folk. (bless you)

  • I deserve a vacation because I've never had a vacation in my adult life. My husband buys himself sports cars instead. Please include me in this drawing. Thank you very much.

  • You know I really don't deserve a vacation, because I took a week off over the Holidays, and even travelled to San Francisco to celebrate our anniversary.
But once I got back to the office on January 3rd, the party was over.  Long days at work since the New Year have left me a bit frazzled and tired, so please be kind enough to enter me in the drawing.
    Thank you so much!

These fragrances sound really lovely.  I would love a vacation as I am braced for yet another snowstorm….tropical paradise take me away!  Thank you for the opportunity to be entered in the draw!

  • After trying Iris Pourpre, I completely fell in love with KM line. PLus, I'm a total tuberose freak and would love a vacation on a tropical island while the snow is falling here and I have to work for months more before getting an actual vacation.

  • I deserve a vacation because I was sick and stuck in the hotel bed the last time I took one, and the one scheduled prior to that had to be canceled because I was in the hospital. Actually, I'm a little afraid of vacations now– they don't seem to work out so well for me. 🙁 But some scrumptious KM samples might be nice!

  • I haven't tried any Keiko Mecheri perfume, but there are so many that I would like to know… Isles Lointaines sounds so inspiring and exotic…
Everybody deserves vacances. I think all of us without exception deserve some change in our lives sometime. A time to relax, to know different places, to notice that the world is so big and beautiful…
I'm fed up of winter, really. The other day I saw the first almond tree in bloom and I'm longing for spring. So just to feel I'm travelling, I usually "travel" in Google Earth. God bless the street view! LOL

  • What a wonderful offer!  Thanks Keiko and Mario!  I also haven't tried any Keiko Mecheri perfumes.  As to vacations, we were supposed to go to Quebec City over Thanksgiving weekend as a consolation prize for NOT going to Paris (milestone birthday last year, and Paris was my wish, but way too expensive).  All T-day week, my husband was ill with some sort of stomach thing.  Instead of Paris and instead of Quebec City, we stayed home while I played nurse.  Can't complain too much cause we did go to the Caribbean in September.  But that ain't no Paris!  😉  We hope to go this October…try, try again!

  • I think I deserve a vacation because I'm having sinus surgery next week, and two weeks ago (at age 44), I got braces put back on my bottom teeth. Wah! Call whine-one-one and get me a wah-mbulance!

    ;o)

Seriously though, please enter me in the draw. If an actual vacation isn't in the offing, a mental one would be nice.

Is it me, or does it seem like everyone's doing the perfume travelogue lately? Dior with the Escales, L'Artisan with the Traverses (or whatever — it's 6 a.m.), and now Keiko?

  • I don't know if I "deserve" a vacation, but one would be nice.   It wouldn't be a tropical one, tho, I like the cold weather.  These scents sound,  beautiful and I bet they would be lovely in the cold, as well as the heat, where, I am sure, they would just bloom.  I would love to try them.  Pick me, pick me!

  • I have spent the past year taking care of my little one and I am tired and in need of a nice holiday.. I wish to be somewhere warm and quiet, getting lots of sleep and going for swims. I love KM because it always stays romantic and mysterious, just like its owner, I would imagine.. I cherish Mullholand, and Peau de Peche, amazing scents. Please count me in.

  • I haven't gone anywhere in a very long time & would love to go back to India for a vacation. It's such a glorious assault. Oh, and I'd love to try these new scents. 🙂

  • I deserve a vacation to either San Francisco or Prague because I haven't had one in years and I had a birthday earlier this month! If I went either place I'd never come back for sure 😉 And it would be lovely to sample some new perfumes on my aventure

  • I wanna go to Europe (Portugal, Italy, Spain or France) I'm still considering and would love to go in march where is kinda quiet.

  • I just got back from a week in Paris but hey I'll be deserving of another 2011 vacation before too long, right? Please enter me into the draw. Thanks!

  • I could use a vacation! Over the past year we've undergone the remodeling/updating our downstairs which stretched out to 7 months instead of the promised 4, my mom died and I've been settling her estate, cleared out her condo and got it ready for the market, and was in an accident with a county sheriff.  There is more but don't want to bore you–but I need a vacation.
And in place of a vacation, a bottle of perfume will do!

  • haha! I need a vacation because: three kids under the age of 9 and I just finished my PhD! Need a vacation for sure! Or just a  couple samples of keiko's new 'fumes!

  • I deserve a vacation because, although I took off from work during the winter holidays, I didn't go anywhere.  Tahiti would be a great place to start my travels!  Please do include me in the drawing; even if I can't actually get to Tahiti in the flesh, maybe these perfumes will take me there in spirit.  Thanks!

  • I love your reference to the old Calgon commercial. And for some reason, I find Keiko Mecheri fragrances extremely calming (I guess that's a vacation in a bottle). I particularly like Oliban (which I own) and Peau de Peche (which I'd like to won), but there's something about all the fragrances that I've tried that have a particularly soothing quality to them.

  • I'm sure I don't deserve a vacation any more than those who post, but seems like it has been forever…Wait it has.. When you are self employed your business owns YOU.. Haven't experienced Keiko's creations but would LOVE to. Great article. Envious of the Paris trip:)

  • Iles Lontaines sounds like heaven in a bottle…the Tuberose has me intrigued…lovely post. I love that old Calgon commercial and I swear I play that in my head when my beloved and beautiful scents waft around me…taking me away…thank you 🙂

  • I am just now getting into Keiko Mecheri- I adore Cuir Cordoba, it's a perfect mellow, sensual white suede scent (what I hoped many other similar scents that I have would smell like, but only Cuir Cordoba hit the mark).

  • I have never tried Keiko Mecheri, but I heard a lot about her perfumes, and everyone talked very favorably.  From what I heard it sounds like she has her own style and "voice" if this word can be applied to a purely silent art of perfumery, and I love that.
Why do I deserve a vacation? Quite simply, because I am a human, and we are all in the same boat here: in order to live, work, and love, we need a change of scenery, change of activity, relaxation, sweet smelling air and cool warm silky waves from time to time.  There is no need to do anything special to deserve a vacation.  All it takes is to listen to oneself and monitor alertness and tiredness.  me? I am actually not that tired, but… I haven't been to the ocean for four years, and I guess that counts!

  • I am in school and can't seem to adjust to walking everywhere through the freezing cold, as opposed to having a car in my wonderful little suburb back home, and dealing with an apartment building that has a broken boiler. I do nothing but dream of tropical skies and getaways. 🙂

  • taffynfontana says:

Both of the creations sound luxurious I especially love the heady smell of tuberose so intense and seductive. I think everyone should have a vacation we should be like the European countries where it isn't a treat rather a necessity to vacation and decompress from the rigorous lives we lead. Last year finances were very tough so vacation was only in my dreams hopefully this year my dreams can come to fruition.

  • I received my deluxe samples of Tuberose & Iles de Lointaines and I am swooning. These are truly gorgeous white florals and there is something for everyone here. Whether you like a sweet sultry tropical white jasmine/gardenia like Iles de Lointaines or the sophisticated ladylike and sexy Tuberose, they are both here. Stunning. Bravo Keiko Mecheri, these are beautiful & unique perfumes…
