Jovoy Paris Incident Diplomatique (François Hénin and Vanina Muracciole) 2017- New Perfume Review +Strangers On A Train Draw

François Hénin

In the world of perfumery, François Hénin of Jovoy Paris is known as the "Ambassador" of Niche. If you are looking for a rare or HTF artistic perfume, chances are Jovoy stocks the one you covet or will love. François Hénin opened his first store in Paris, on 4 Rue Castiglione in 2010 (there are now seven Jovoy Paris boutiques worldwide- two in Paris, one in London and four in the Middle East). I n 2011, he created an eponymous line Jovoy Parfumeur Paris, and we reviewed the original six as soon as they were available for sale in the boutique.

Jovoy Paris Boutique 2015 4 Rue Castiglione, Paris

I have a special fondness for François Hénin, who I have met on many occasions: “Cafleurebon? There are people who talk about perfumes and people who are part of the perfume community. In a world saturated with information, press releases, pictures and comments about pretty much everything and the contrary, it is important to have lighthouses, points of reference where you can stay and get a more personal and deep analysis of perfume houses, trends and launches. Cafleurebon, is a place of reference where you can freely leave your passion about perfumes. This is a unique place I highly recommend to people who want to know more, and be part of a community of true perfume lovers. –François Henin, President and Founder of Jovoy Paris and Jeroboam

Robert Walker, Ruth Roman and Farley Granger in Strangers on a Train directed by Alfred Hitchcock (1951)

The 2017 release Incident Diplomatique, brings to mind the Hitchcock thriller "Strangers on A Train" (L'inconnu du Nord-Express) a tangled web of murder, intrigue, illicit affairs, homoerotica, and seduction.  Both Sebastian and I believe it one of Hitchcock’s greatest films. -Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews! He has a way in describing a perfume that makes me want to immediately go out and buy it!

This fragrance sounds so earthy and beautiful. I enjoy vetiver, and mixed with the spice and patchouli notes, it sounds incredible! I’ve never tried anything from this line before so I’d be thrilled to win it!

And Alfred Hitchcock was the master of thrillers! I love all his work!

I live in New York (USA)

  • John "The Bopper" Stagg says:

I am a huge Jovoy fan and have been for quite some now. I’m very hard pressed to pick an offering from the house that I do not enjoy and ID is no exception.

I frequently watch Sebastian’s channel and have been a fan of his channel from day 1. Having been in the fragrance game for over 10 years, its been fun to watch the many reviewers on You Tube!!!

I would be pleased to win a bottle considering I couldn’t pull off the Powerball win!!!! lol

  • Like many here, I enjoy Sebastian’s reviews
Heard the name Jovoy Paris but haven’t tried any
Fragrance from the House. So I would like to get
A chance to try this one out. Thanks for the giveaway

  • Patrick Echevarria says:

Love love vetiver! And while I have heard Jovoy Paris a lot of times,I haven’t really had the chance to sample any from the house. Sebastian was describing it exactly prescribed to vetiver lovers like me. This one should be interesting..vetiver + patchouli combo and some booziness, this sure like a customized frag for me. Would definitely love to win this bottle!! San Diego

  • BostonScentGuy says:

“Earthy but Sparkly” sounds fantastic. Glad it has both of those elements according to Sebastian. Vetiver can get into swamp-world, esp with patchouli, but sounds like this one doesn’t fall into that trap! I also just love Sebastian’s unabashed proclamation that it’s wonderful. I feel like hearing one person’s adoration of a scent can be a helpful thing. I love all most things vetiver, so I’m really interested in trying this. I’ve tried a few Jovoy scents. I particularly like the one that reminds me of Bois de Violette…I think Enfant Terrible? Thanks so much for this draw! I’d love to win this bottle. I’m in the US.

This past July I was able to visit Jovoy. It is truly a treat and a “must” stop on a trip to Paris. I purchased several perfumes (by Anatole Lebreton – but that’s another story). The staff was so very generous and gave me multiple samples of Jovoy’s own fragrances. Unfortunately, none of the samples was” Incident Diplomatique”.

Although I have loved them all, my favorite Jovoy sample is “La Litergie des Heures”. With “litergie” in its name you know it’s going to have a strong incence component. What is surprising is how it evokes the odor of burning wood. As I ponder it, I wonder, am I in church on a high-holy day, or a campfire in the High Sierra’s?

I have now viewed several of Sebastian’s video perfume reviews. His passion is contagious.

  • Roger Engelhardt says:

Vetiver and Patchouli set my heart a-racing❤️ I own Jovoy Private Label and that knocks my socks off every time I sniff!!
I have been very curious of this scent, but have not come around to order a sample yet from Aedes de Venustas.
I would love to win the draw.
    I am in the USA.

  • GrandmaGaga says:

I have heard of Jovoy but always thought they were simply a perfume shop, not a perfume house with their own scents. This sounds so intriguing with the sparkly notes…would love a chance to try it. I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews; he’s so knowledgeable yet personable and down-to-earth in his descriptions. I am in the US. Thank you for the chance!

  • Sebastian is one of my best reviewer because his experience and knowledge about the topic. He has a great taste with fragrance selection. I also like the way he talks about those fragrances with personal connection, elegance, and even sophistication. I am not familiar with any Jovoy’s release. I start the journey not too long ago and there is so much to see, sniff, and ed enjoy. I yould love to put my nose on these release. If it comes to Hitchcock movies. I remember, that when I was a young kid, and I lived in Poland, we have his movies played once a week for a quite some time. I loved watching them because they were scarry, complex, and kept you attention all through the whole movie. I recall “The Birds” – That was pretty intense, especially for 12 or 13 years ald kid. I am from Illinois.

  • fazalcheema says:

Sebastian gives high praises to this one that not only he loved Incident Diplomatique but every person he passed this fragrance to also loved it. Sebastian says it has sparkling patchouli and I cannot help but think that may also be a reason why I love Vintage Givenchy Gentleman so much. Even from the notes, Incident Diplomatique feels like a fragrance with classic feel. My favorite Jovoy fragrance is Rouge Assassin which I own and which I stumbled upon while I was hunting fragrances with a unique lipstick accord after Dior Homme made me fell in love with the lipstick accord. I am in the US.

  • Nadine Cunningham says:

Sebastian has nothing but good things to say about this fragrance so I’m most intrigued and would love to get my nose on this one. Vetiver is also one of my favorite fragrance notes so I’m sure this one would be perfect for me. I’m definitely an Alfred Hitchcock fan but I’ve never tried anything from the Jovoy Paris house before. I’m in Connecticut

  • I own 3 from this house they make special fragrances. I will be interested to see how this works and also how it varies from private label since they both carry the vetiver patchouli combination. I appreciate Sebastian highlighting Jovoy, I feel that it’s sort of unsung.

  • hi

    I enjoyed the video also.
I almost went to Jovoy in Qatar but they were closed when I got there
I would love to try this.
    thanks

  • Lillyhollowayblog says:

My first sample I ever ordered was Lys Epona and my introduction to Jovoy perfumes. Patchouli is more my style though and Sebastian really sold this one to me. I would love to try it. I live in the US.

  • I have not tried anything from Jovoy yet, but I’m interested. I love that Sebastian brings so many different fragrances to the attention of his viewers. I also appreciate that he likes many different types of fragrances. I enjoy vetiver in fragrances, and would love a chance to win. Thanks to all involved for the giveaway!

  • I haven’t had a chance to try Jovoy yet but would love to! I’ve been following Sebsatian for a few years and I love the straightforward, professional approach he has to his reviews. As a film major I studied quite a bit of Hitchcock. I particularly enjoyed Rear Window.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  • In a world brimming with niche houses and a constant parade of releases it’s hard to decide if something is worth trying even when it comes from a good house. I was waiting for Sebastian’s review for this reason. He helps me focus and I tend to like many of the same notes he does. I’m especially interested in getting my nose on this patchouli. I struggle with that note.

  • Sebastian is such an honest reviewer that I listen intently when he is blown away by a fragrance. I appreciate and love other fragrances from this house, so Incident Diplomatique is one I am eager to try.

What a wonderful comment from François Hénin about Cafleurebon!

I love “Strangers on a Train”. It is a terrific movie, adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s psychological thriller. Hitchcock and Highsmith together: pure gold. So many great films by Hitch.

Thanks so much for the generous giveaway!

  • Will Hawkes says:

I love that Sebastian is so excited about this fragrance, and so we’re all Jos friends. This video has inspired me to return to London soon to go see the store!

  • I have been following Sebastian for a few years now and has become a routine for me to watch his videos daily. He is very knowledgeable in the perfume game I think someone should collaborate with him on making his own perfume. I think this is awesome that cafleurebon is doing this giveaway. Good luck to everyone looking forward to check out the website for my next fragrance purchase.

  • Hey guys long time subscriber of Sebastian’s channel. I enjoyed his review on this one cause he said it was on his top 10 which for him its a big deal. He has great compliments for this house. Im happy he was given the chance for the giveaway. Thank you so much and keep up the good work .

  • Sebastian is my primary fragrance educator. The scent I’m wearing now is bc of his review. I never heard of Jovoy but now it’s on my radar.

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews! He has a unique way to describ a perfume- simple, very impressive. after wathching his Youtube review I want to test this perfume.
I’ve tested more of Jovoy Paris Parfumes- very unusual, interesting, unique!! I like Gardez Moi Jovoy Paris!!

  • I have tried private label by jovoy and I am a fan of the fragrance but I love the fact that this new fragrance has patcholli and Vetiver notes. I love Vetiver notes. I would love to win this . Florida USA

  • I can not wait to sniff this one. Thanks to Cafleurebon and Sebastian. Familiar with house but never tried fragrances from them.
    From Texas, USA.

  • Would love to win this extra potent fragrance that is also a vetiver lover’s dream come true. Not yet tried anything from Jovoy. USA

  • No, I have not put my nose around the Jovoy Paris… I have only heard good things! Sebastian does a bang job again with this his review! A Vetiver lovers dream come true… and just love Patchouli… I do live in the US… THANK YOU!

  • I absolutely loved this review… Great job Sebastian! I am a huge fan of Jovoy and would love this new release. I too am a vetiver lover, as well as patchouli and sandalwood. I can imagine the dry down on this so vividly.. I do love Hichcock movies. Loved the comment François Henin said about CaFleureBon.. Absolutely the truth, and well said. Thanks for the opportunity to get this beauty…

  • girasole638 says:

I haven’t had a chance to test any Jovoy fragrances, but Rouge Assassin is one that has been on my radar for a long time! Obviously, Incident Diplomatique sounds very different. Do you think this one could work on a woman as well? I love patchouli – and Sebastian’s description of this particular patchouli was appealing – but don’t have too many vetiver-dominant fragrances. I’m so curious to give this one a try.
My sister is a huge Hitchcock buff so we always end up watching one or two of his classics when we’re together – Rear Window and To Catch a Thief are two of my favorites. (I’m in the USA)

  • Emmanual Kreisman says:

Seb is rarely wrong! Love Hitchcock as well, especially Stranger on a train. I’m in Illinois.

  • Sebastian always has informative reviews. I love vetiver, sandalwood, and patchouli, so I’m hoping this will wear well on women as well as men. I’ve never tried a Jovoy fragrance, but I love Hitchcock movies with North by Northwest as one of my favorites. Thanks so much for the draw. I live in the USA

  • I’m beyond excited to hear about this release! I’ve been waiting for the perfect vetiver fragrance to come my way, Eccentric Molecules got close with “02” but listening to what Seb has to say about it, Incident Diplomatique is poised to take its place.
I’m in the US and desperate to get my nose on this.

  • Nicholas Patten says:

I’ve never heard of Javoy but am super intrigued by the house.
I don’t know much and am not familiar with niche fragrances and this sounds like a phenomenal one to open the doors with.
    Thanks for the opportunity!!

  • Linda Cooper says:

I read about a split of this on Facebook & ordered 10 ml . It sounds so good & Sebastian makes it sound even better!

  • Tony Grillo says:

I love Hitchcock movies, Vertigo esp, and I like Jovoy private label and last yearbought a bottle.
I think it’s really cool that the owner of the store said such great things about this site. I always trust Sebastian he knows his stuff

  • doveskylark says:

This review made want to try everything from Jovoy. I like the idea of a long-lasting earthy, sparkly and cognac fragrance. I’d also like to visit the store in Paris.
I love Hitchcock films. I recently saw “The Man Who Knew Too Much.” It”s with Doris Day, the one where she sings “Que Sera, Sera.” Such a good film.
    I live in the USA.

  • What a nice comment about cafleurebon.com from Mr. Henin. I have only tried Psychledique which was a lovely fragrance. I don’t know why I have not paid more attention to this line especially since it is carried at Fumerie in Portland. I will be going soon to chose my birthday gift and I will check them out more thoroughly. I have never seen an Alfred Hitchcock movie, I’m just not a huge movie fan, I prefer documentaries. What a glowing review of this new fragrance by Sebastian. When he said it may make it in his top 10 list (and it has Patchouli) I knew I had to comment. Thanks for the chance. I live in the US.

  • Sebastian’s reviews are my favourites since I discovered them, his calm and positive attitude and passion in the same time are priceless. I haven’t try any of Jovoy scents yet and I have to watch the movie (it’s a shame I haven’t seen it). I have an address in Texas. (disclaimer: I live in Poland, but I have good friends in Huston who agreed to resend me some stuff, I hope it is OK and not against any rules of a draw).

  • The best thing about his reviews is the diversity in the perfumes he reviews.

I love vetiver and patcholi. Never tried any from this house.

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

WOW!!! Few months back for the very first time I got hands on Jovoy perfume “Private Label” & I found it’s Awesome…the quality & performance. Yes, Sebastian Jara you are right Jovoy perfumes are extra extra quality, & extra potent. Me too lover of earthy vetiver, patchouli fragrances, so Jovoy Incident Diplomatique notes are right up my alley.
Thanks to Amerikas, The US distributor of Jovoy Paris for the generosity & CafleureBon for the opportunity by letting my relative address in US.

  • Seb is one of the go to guys when it comes to niche reviews. And I would say the most generous fragrance review channel. My Favourite Hitchcock movie is Psycho. Similar to Jovoy, Hitchcock movies are not your mainstream type. I have tried a few Jovoys and right now the one that I like the most is ‘Connaisance’. But I plan to revisit a few of them as Jovoy perfumes are the types that need to grow on you. They are definitely unique and the quality is really there. Incident Diplomatique is not available where I am at so would love to win the giveaway of the best 2017 release so far!

  • Tom Schroeder says:

I have a small sample vial of this from luckyscent, and I fully agree that it is a beautiful take on vetiver and patchouli. To me, this is not a complex fragrance, but rather a high quality, expertly blended, and classy scent. Absolutely love it. And I enjoyed how Sebastian described that he been to the store and knows their fragrances well. (San Jose, California, US)
