On April 14th, Osswald  NYC brought The Carnival of Venice to their elegant emporium located in New York City’s Soho district at 311 West Broadway.  The occasion was to celebrate the relaunching of Il Profumo Fragrance, the perfume house inspired by the mystery and allure of Venice.

I draw my inspiration from nature itself” Silvana Casoli, Creator of Il Profvmo. Il Profvmo is an Italian niche perfume house founded by pefumer, Silvana Casoli. It was at the Elements Showcase 2015 at Capsule where Michelyn and I were introduced to the collection and learned of the history behind the brand.  This storied and opulent house has been creating fragrances since the early 2000s with close to fifty releases since inception.  Over the years Il Profvmo has had four collections of fragrances: the Classic; the Osmo; the Soliflor and the Multiflor line.

Owner Tanja Dreiding-Wallace, Store Manager Josie Plumey, Operations Manager Marion Martinez and the Osswald staff were in full dressed to thrill mode. And with prosecco flowing freely, the stage was set for the night’s revelry to commence.

The  Osswald event also had a special performance featuring The Queens Consort, a professional early music instrument ensemble that hails from Queens (hence the name but ever so regal). The ensemble plays on period instruments and in baroque style and for the evening  Venetian baroque.

The latest in the collectionis Caramella d’Amore, a floral ode to the love that unites mothers and daughters. This intensely feminine fragrance is a floral gourmand has notes that evoke candy apple, cotton candy, white violet and a soft amber flavored vanilla to entice.

Alas, the evening was over too soon and I left the dream of gondalas floating onf the canals of Venice to catch the subway on Canal Street.

  • Hello,

I loved the photographs and imagining that beautiful music playing inside that gorgeous shop. I’ve been to the shop once, and would love to return! I think the Ginger scent sounds especially strange and enticing. I live in NYC(so no excuse for not visiting there more often!)

    Thanks so much!

It was quite a launch. The article inspired me to read more about Tanja and it seems the original Osswald was started by her family and she expanded it to NYC. I have been to Osswald and it is quite a nice perfume destination. I am curious about musc bleu. thanks a lot for the draw. I am in the US

  • What an impressive fragrance launch! I loved the imagery! Unfortunately, I have never tried anything from this line. The Caramella D’Amore sound beautiful and like something that both my mother and me would enjoy wearing. On my next visit to NYC (this summer) I plan to visit Osswald as well as some of the other great fragrance stores mentioned on Cafleurebon. I live in the US and thanks for the draw! 🙂

I love baroque style classical musical! What a grand launch! I would have loved to have been there!
I have not tried anything from this line but I am dying to try Chocolat!!! I live in Staten Island, NY, but I’m in the city quite often. I definitely need to visit Osswald the next time I’m in town.

The beautiful photo of the woman in red and the woman in the mask is very nice 🙂 I have never visited Oswald NYC, but the sample I really want to try is Chocolat – I have heard so much about it! And the new fragrance, with notes of candy apple – mmm!

  • Judging by the photos and the live musical performance that must have been quite the event. Nope, I have never visited Osswald NYC store. If I win, I can’t wait to try Vanille Bourbon. 🙂 usa

  • What a fun event! I thought Osswald was in Europe; I didn’t realize there was one in New York, so that was news to me. This new perfume sounds beautiful and I love the musicians, elegant gowns, the masks: it’s all quite thrilling!I would like to try Black Dianthus. I live in the USA. Thank you for the draw.

  • I’ve sadly never been to Osswald NYC, but I’ll put it on my list for the next time I manage to visit the city, whenever that might be 🙂 I am loving the photos in this review. (That dress!!!)

I’ve never tried an Il Profvmo scent, but Pioggia Salata is the one I’m most dying to try. It sounds amazing.

Thanks for the draw 🙂 I’m in the US.

  • I’ve never been to Osswald NYC, and sadly I’m not sure when I’ll have the opportunity to go to NYC. It’s so awesome that they had a quartet playing baroque style music! What a fabulous atmosphere! I’ve also never tried any scents from Il Profvmo – it seems that I am behind on sampling Italian perfume houses! I must get on it. I’m particularly interested in Fleur de Bambu. Thanks for the draw, I’m in the US.

  • Looks like it was amazing event. I have never been to Osswald NYC, but plan on going next time I visit east coast. I was unaware before reading Hernando’s report that they have had so many releases since 2000. Quite amazing in relatively short period of time.
I live in the USA and Im sure that any from the sampler would be wonderful to try:)

  • It is exciting to hear about an event like this one at Osswald NYC. I’ve never visited, but now I’ve had a wonderful introduction. I have enjoyed Il Profvmo’s Mandarine in the past. I’m truly looking forward to trying Black Dianthus. Thank you to Hernando for sharing his adventure and to everyone for the generous draw. I am in the US.

  • I love the pirure of Tanja and Josie. Although I have never been to Osswald NYC myself, I am quite familiar with the staff thanks to the great video reviews of Carlos aka Brooklyn Fragrance Lover from the store. I would love to try samples of the Il Profvmo line, you had me at Ginger! I am in the US.

  • How I wish I could hear the queens consort and smell all these lovely perfumes. I have read about Osswaldnyc and as I see their website would love one day to visit. Black dianthus appeals to me as does fleur de bamboo

  • I enjoyed Hernando’s report of this Venetian baroque event. It would have been fun to be there en masque. I have not visited Osswald NYC and would love to try Il Profumo’s Pioggia Salata (inspired by a drop of summer rain) perfume.
