Elizabeth Musmanno Announced as President of the Fragrance Foundation US- “New Direction”

The Fragrance Foundation has named Elizabeth Musmanno President, effective immediately.  Ms. Musmanno will focus on creating new strategic alliances and exclusive business initiatives for the members of the Fragrance Foundation.

“My focus will be to provide true value to the membership via innovative thinking,” explained Ms. Musmanno, founder of The Musmanno Group. “We are going to be a quick moving agile group focused on bringing the fragrance industry to the world at large.”

The search committee, which spent 6 months looking for a candidate, tapped Ms. Musmanno because of her deep connections both inside and, perhaps more importantly, outside the world of beauty in the art, fashion and music industries.

“Elizabeth Musmanno is a highly valued senior communications and marketing executive,” stated Jill Belasco, Board Chair of the Foundation and CEO of CoScentrix. “We believe her deep connections in a vast array of industries will bring a fresh perspective to the foundation. The Board is thrilled to appoint Elizabeth to our team.”

“We are thinking about the foundation in a completely different way,” Cosimo Policastro, Executive VP Fine Fragrances Givaudon, continued, “Elizabeth’s vision will bring a renewed energy to the foundation.”

In 2005, Ms. Musmanno was named Worldwide Marketing and Communications Director for Christian Dior Couture and was a member of the executive committee based in Paris. From there, Ms. Musmanno was named Senior Vice President of Global Communications and Marketing and a member of the executive committee at Vera Wang.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Musmanno served as Vice President of Global Communications at Unilever Cosmetics International where she worked on various brands including Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Lagerfeld, Cerutti, BCBG Max Azria, Chloe and Nautica. She also had roles at Revlon, Yves Saint Laurent Beaute, Elizabeth Arden and Oscar de la Renta Parfums.

Musmanno is an American, Canadian and British (EU) citizen and speaks fluent French. Founding the marketing communications firm, The Musmanno Group in 2010, she will continue to oversee its operations.

  • This worries me: ‘focused on bringing the fragrance industry to the world at large.’ I hope it doesn’t translate into, ‘removing the interesting, to keep things unviversally acceptable’.

  • I doubt she can do that – at least I hope she can’t. I am thinking she is more interested in expanding the market share of fragrance that is already largely uninteresting. Niche perfumers are never going to want to be part of that – and short of some long-litigated legislation, will never have to be. I can’t imagine Frederic Malle in Macy’s, can you?
