The Zoo Everlasting isn’t shy in making its intentions clear. It is anexperience a cornucopia of notes, effects and nuances: from aromatic earthiness to sober woodiness, from caramelized amber to warm-skin muskiness, and from smoky, leathery resinousness to warm, cinnamon-like spiciness. The overall combination is arresting and sensual; it evokes to me a sensation of idealized masculinity balancing between virility, playfulness and sensitivity, while echoing classic, suavely seductive “men’s” fragrances of the 1980s.

In Parfumeurs Du Monde Makeda, Alexandre Isaie Helwani wanted to express not so much the dynamic aspect of the powerful Queen, as the tender side of the woman (strongly inspired by the “Song of Songs”). His initial idea was to construct the fragrance upon a combination of orris butter, sandalwood and vanilla, thus reflecting the idea of “gold and ivory” that Queen Makeda brought as gifts to Jerusalem.
