Amouage Love Tuberose Perfume Review (Christopher Chong and Nathalie Lorson) 2018 + Secret Garden Draw

"In Love Tuberose I see a woman kidnapped by love with dreams that only the Russian classical arts have been able to paint. In a declaration of passion, hope and adventures, the fragrance embodies the excitement and the mystery of a blossoming love story.” -Christopher Chong, Amouage Creative Director

Inspired by Russian literature and music, Amouage Love Tuberose is the third and newest release in the Amouage “Secret Garden” line; the first two, Lilac Love (2016) and Blossom Love (2017) are two of my favorites. Working again with Perfumer Nathalie Lorson of IFF, Creative Director/wunderkind Christopher Chong, Amouage Love Tuberose continues the “fragrance of love” theme with a gourmand spin on tuberose that is both truly divine and utterly delectable. To wit: I wore Love Tuberose to our island supermarket and farmer’s market last Saturday and the reactions were similarly amazing at both locations. Running into friends whom I hadn’t seen all week (women AND men), after lightly hugging the comments ranged from “Mmmmm…” to “You smell DELICIOUS!” The latter from a heterosexual man who pushed his wife forward to smell my neck. Wife’s comment was “Oooh honey, you NEED a bottle of this, it’s SUPER-SEXY!”

via Tumbler© (this is what image came to mind when Michelyn wore it)

It is in fact, super-sexy; a lightened-up tuberose tailored perfectly for people who think they cannot wear tuberose fragrances. Love Tuberose is a breezy and splendid non-indolic white floral that is easy to wear, has great sillage, and lasts seemingly forever. If you love Amouage Honour Woman as I do, then you’ll love meeting  Amouage Love Tuberose, Honour’s younger and flirtier little sister.

Amouage Love Tuberose wastes no time introducing the Tuberose, Jasmine, and Gardenia; the undisputed queens of night-blooming flowers. All three are enrobed in the palest blush-colored angora shawl-like Chantilly cream. And if you think Chantilly cream is just “fancified” whipping cream, you’d be both right and similarly wrong. Whipped cream is often sweetened with a small amount of sugar (granulated) and vanilla.

Robert whipped up Chantilly Cream in his kitchen for this review©

While Chantilly cream has a greater quantity of sugar (no vanilla) and often confectioners’ sugar versus granulated. Splitting hairs? Possibly, but therein lies the difference. Chantilly is simply whipped cream X 100. It is something good made great. And in Love Tuberose it shines through, giving the floralcy a creamy loveliness that you find in only the finest French pastry. As with Lilac Love (Lilac, cacao, & vanilla), and Blossom Love (Ylang-ylang, rose, cherry blossom, tonka bean & vanilla) Chong and Lorson have taken seemingly disparate ingredients, blended them to perfection, and created another winning floral gourmand. The drydown of Amouage Love Tuberose with its mixture of vanilla, cedar, and sandalwood has a  L’Heure Bleue vibe sans the melancholy, which makes it all the more delicious and beautiful to my nose. Based upon the three scrumptious fragrances in the “Secret Garden” range, I, for one, can’t wait to see what’s next! Notes: Tuberose, gardenia, jasmine, Chantilly cream, vanilla, sandalwood, cedar.

Disclosure: Many thanks to Amouage for the sample. The opinions are my own.

  • Its wonderful that Roberts friends were so taken with the Amourage Tuberose fragrance he was wearing, it sounds like a lovely fragrance Tuberose, gardenia, jasmine, vanilla, chantilly cream sounds like a perfect floral gourmand! I have never had the opportunity to try the Amourage fragrance brand before but i would love for this to be my first foray into the line!

  • My favorite line… “Amouage Love Tuberose, Honour’s younger and flirtier little sister”! Great review! My favorite is Reflection Man. Arkansas, USA

  • I never knew what differentiates Chantilly Creme from whipped cream. It sounds delicious. As does the fragrance.

  • Richard Potter says:

Damn you, Robert! Now you have me craving this. Sounds incredible! I love Gold Man. USA

  • I love seeing and reading what inspires a scent and what story they are trying to tell. I also love tuberose and gourmand scents so as you can imagine, that pic of the perfume laying in Chantilly cream caught my eye! I unfortunately have yet to sniff many Amouage scents. I’m in California.

  • Three night blooming flowers and SUPER whipped cream? I’m in. I haven’t a favorite Amouage as of yet….but perhaps, if I’m lucky, I will. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff, USA.

  • I enjoyed the enthusiastic yet simple review that Robert has offered for this new Amouage scent. I love Amouage Gold for women and would love the opportunity to own this one! I am in the US. Thank you for the chance!

  • Scented Hound says:

Love Tuberose, and what better name for this beauty? Thank you Robert for presenting a gorgeous scent to those of us that have never even sampled the brand before. My goal is to illicit responses like you had at the super and farmer’s markets. The Tuberose is now growing in my “secret garden” and I await the stalks that will soon carry the clusters of blooms in the cooling night air. The unexpected twist is the Chantilly cream, making it so enchantingly dreamy. Thank you Amouage and Christopher Chong for this opportunity, as I wave from California!

  • I love tuberose and I have no doubt I would love Love Tuberose. Love your description of L’Heure Bleu without the melancholy.

  • Roberts review confirmed my suspician that I will love this fragrance and cannot wait to get hold of it. Amouage have so many lovely fragrances that it is hard to pick just one favourite. Of the first line it is Memoir Woman. In theSecret Garden line I think Blossom Love is the most under appreciated, so lovely. And I love tuberose.

  • Wow! Such a beautiful review.
Even I usually do not like tuberose, this review rinsed in me big interest in this perfume.
I hope I will like it, even more it has Chantilly cream sounds.
I like Amouage Dia Man, Beach Hut.

  • Wow Robert Tuberose Love sounds beautiful especially the white divas of jasmine, tuberose and gardenia love that the drydown smells like LHeure Bleue.
That Chantilly Creme you made sounds delicious. I am a fan of Honour and Lilac Love as well as lyric for women
    Thank you for the chance
Art work for this was great too

  • I adore tuberose and you’ve made this sound very alluring. As much as I wear perfume, it’s been a long time since I got compliments. Maybe it’s not me, maybe I need to hang out with different people! For whatever reason I have not kept up with the Amouage releases. This one might tempt me to order a sample because there is never too many tuberose scents. USA

  • BostonScentGuy says:

Loved hearing about those varied reactions….esp the heterosexual man as that is the species least likely to comment on fragrance especially another guy. I also love the idea that the far dry down is like LHB, but without the melancholy. This sounds beautiful. I love tuberose in all its glory, but I always love subtle and creative takes on the note (Nuit de Tubereuse, Twilly). I’m also an Amouage fan as well. Did Man, Memoir Man, and Lyric Woman are my favorites! Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • I love that you made Chantilly Cream just for the review! I used to hate tuberose until about 2 years ago, and now I can’t get enough of it! I’ve never tried and Amouage perfume, but I’ve yet to try something that pairs a cream note with tuberose, so I would love a chance to. Thanks for the giveaway! USA

  • Chantilly cream, mmmmmm! Beautiful review and sounds like a beautiful fragrance. I don’t have any Amouage fragrances. Thank you for the cahnce to try one. I love in California.

  • I absolutely adore tuberose! I always buy them at the Farmer’s market and love how the scent is released in the evening… I am in California.

  • Robert had me at French pastry. I’m going to make some Chantilly cream for my berries tonight! Thanks for the opportunity, I am in the US.

  • Robert’s review enchanted me with the Chantilly cream description – and picture! Amouage is the total package – gorgeous scent in a tactile and lovely bottle. My favorite is the new Imitation Woman. Before that it was Journey. I do love Tuberose by not on it’s own – in a blend. This sounds perfect, of course. High expectations of this talented perfumer and House. Thank you for the chance, in the USA.

  • I didn’t realize there was more to come in the Secret Garden, guess it was a well kept secret! I’ve always been a fan of gourmands, but have tried to branch out. I have actually acquired 2 tuberose dominant fragrances recently, I would love to try this. I am curious what color the bottle will be, I love their pastel opaque bottles. My favorite from this house is Sunshine Woman and Journey Woman. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • Sounds great and thanks for defining chantilly vs whipped creams. Not only did it provide a feeling for the fragrance, but I learned something too. I’ve always enjoyed tuberose. Favorite Amouage is Jubilation XXV. Arizona

  • I adore the note of tuberose in fragrances! And I’m incredibly intrigued to smell this when you mentioned “Chantilly is simply whipped cream X 100.” This scent sounds gorgeous!!
    I live in the USA.

  • doveskylark says:

I always thought I couldn’t wear tuberose or any other white flower. It was a wonderful surprise when, with a light touch, I appreciated tuberose on my wrist. The vanilla dry down sounds lovely. I haven’t tried any Amouage fragrances, but I’ve heard good things about Lyric Man.
    I live in the USA.

  • I normally don’t like tuberose that much, depending on how it’s done. I’d be curious to try this since it’s supposedly fit for those like me who arent normally tuberose fans.
My fav from Amouage is probably Lyric Man, or Epic Man.
    Im in the US. Thanks

  • I love tuberose in some perfumes. I can say i do not like tuberose herbal-green or animalic sides, but like just creamy sounds. So I think I will like this perfume.
I like Amouage brand so much, and very hard to pick up 1 or two.
I like more Opus 6, Myth Man, Jubilation 25 Man.

I love tuberose , and Iam a fan From this house, Love all their creation, but my fav always was and would be.
    “INTERLUDE”

  • Great article Robert! The mere mention of chantilly cream had me salivating, My favorite is Memoir Woman. I love Honour so I know I will love Amouage Tuberose! Thanks for the draw and I live in the US! 🙂

  • Being “kidnapped by love” is a very interesting turn of phrase. This sounds beautiful. I love tuberose in the garden, but have not been very successful in wearing it in fragrance. I would really like to win this one. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the USA

  • So, I LOVE Tuberose, and I am intrigued by the comparison to L’Heure Bleue, which I hold with love in my melancholy heart. I don’t have an Amouage favorite, as the same scent will be magical or awful given my mood and the day. On the days I get a YES, it is always my favorite for that day.

  • Fantastic giveaway .
I do have love and hate type of relationship with indolic white floral fragrances-some i love, but some i hate with passion.

… say NO more -i’m in.
What a great job by Robert – i have to sample Love Tuberose for sure.
As a woman i do love the house of Amouage , but to be honest i much prefer men’s versions. To me Jubilation XXV is A LOT better fragrance compared to Jubilation for Women,Reflection Men > Reflection Women , Lyric Man>Lyric Women and so on.
I do own full bottles of Jubilation XXV – 100% unisex fragrance , Journey Woman -the only one better than men’s version, and 10ml decant of Lilac Love-a fragrance i adore , and i do plan to get full bottle.
Amouage is such a great house with high quality fragrances – every fragrance lover should have at least one in her/his collection. There is only one fragrance from the brand i don’t like. It’s called Opus IX – on my skin is SUPER indolic and animalic at the same time.

  • This sounds really good! I would love to try this gourmand tuberose. My favorite Amouage at the moment is Lyric Woman. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the USA.

  • I am the hugest tuberose fan girl and a tremendous fan of Amouage. Robert’s description of the chantilly cream in these scents was spot-on. My favorite Amouage would have to be Myth Woman with Fate Woman a close second. I am in the U.S. Thank you!

  • I do like tuberose and this sounds like a wonderful scent. I would love to try. I have a couple Amouage perfumes and I like them but I think I would like this one more.
I’m in the US, thanks for the generous draw!

Robert your choice of words had me searching for the Love Tuberose as I re read your opinion three times. I love how you delicately described the fragrance. With comparisons I can relate to I was able to SMELL the perfume through your writing. A true aficionado of pastry and perfume you are! My mouth was watering for a pastry from Patisserie Sylvain Depuichaffray in Marseilles. I ordered all 3 Love fragrances before I wrote my comment. Thanks to YOU ROBERT.
