Aftelier Perfumes Vanilla Smoke (Mandy Aftel) ~New Fragrance

aftelier vanilla smoke perfume

I am a connoisseur of vanilla perfume. I prefer mine smoky and sexy, with a hint of sweetness (because no one over the age of 12 wants to smell like a cupcake, thank you).  Mandy Aftel must have read my thoughts as she is introducing a new fragrance- Vanilla Smoke, which was previewed  recently at the gala opening of The Museum of Food and Drink in Brooklyn.

“Vanilla Smoke is a sexy sophisticated smoke-laced vanilla perfume. I have always loved the refined aroma of vanilla absolute from Madagascar for its gorgeous facets of wood, resin and spices. Fine vanilla absolute possesses none of the ubiquitous creamy sweet candy-like notes associated with commercial vanilla fragrances. The dark smokiness of lapsang souchong tea essence has been extracted from tea leaves that were smoked over pinewood”

Featured Notes in Organic Alcohol: Yellow Mandarin, Siam Wood, Saffron Absolute, Vanilla Absolute, Lapsang Souchong, Ambergris

.Vanilla Smoke is for men and women, available as a 1/4 oz. perfume ($180), a one ounce EDP Spray, ($180), a 2ml mini perfume ($50) and a sample size ($6) at www.aftelier.com.

  • Oh, this may be the vanilla I’ve been waiting for!

Somewhat off topic…I have heard Mona Di Orio’s carnation is a smoky vanilla; do you have an opinion on that?

  • BostonScentGuy says:

Wow, this is one I definitely want to look out for! I kind of call Cartier’s Treizieme Heure “Vanilla Smoke” as it is. Glad to see that, like in that one, the Aftelier contains a smoky tea note. I have consistently fallen head over heels for several of her scents with heady and spicy ingredients, such as Cognac and Tango. Mandy Aftel definitely sets the bar high for naturals!

  • I think Mandy Aftel is such a genius. I love vanilla too and can’t wait to sample this. LOL about no one over 12 likes to smell like a cupcake. Maybe someone should show this to my co worker who overdouses in Pink Aquolina

  • Smoky vanilla this is something that I must try since up till now I have smelled only the sweet creamy with candy notes types oof vanilla. Thank you for the information.

  • Great to hear of another Mandy Aftel creation. She is truly a genius with the naturals! I too, love vanilla, but am very choosy about which vanilla fragrances I want to wear. I agree, I do not want to smell like a vanilla cupcake (although I never mind eating one!). This seems perfect for the upcoming winter months.
    mmmmmm

  • Lapsang, ambergris, vanilla and saffron? I’m sold! I’m actually drinking Lapsang right now – such a sultry scent. And I like the idea of a darker, more adult vanilla (that’s natural as well!)
