Yay! After a month and a half, Jovoy Parfums Rares is open again, and François is back! I met François Hénin, owner of Jovoy Parfums Rare, at his flagship boutique on rue Castiglione in Paris, and asked him to tell me about the Jovoy experience in post-Covid19 Lock Down.

There will always be a ‘before’ and ‘after’ Covid-19 pandemic Lock Down, when everyday life and business as we knew it ground to a screeching halt. For France and Jovoy , this historic moment lasted two months from March 11-May 11, 2020.

Jovoy Parfums Rare in Paris

Jovoy Parfums Rares last visitors before lockdown

Within a single week, the Jovoy Parfums Rares community went from a state of joyful togetherness as we celebrated our 8th Birthday at a yacht party in Paris, to a state of anxious separateness, scattered and locked down in the four corners of the globe. Driving away from Jovoy Parfums Rares on March 11, only moments ahead of the national deadline for closing our doors, I said good-bye to our last visitors, a pair of ducks on the sidewalk in front of the boutique. Perhaps, the only true Parisians.

Welcome to Jovoy Paris Parfums Rares, and the brave new world of Post Covid19 Lock Down. Everybody is wearing masks. You can’t see Sarah, but she has a gorgeous one.” ©Sarah Colton

And, here we are two months later….. Many things are different. I have to wear this huge mask, you have to wear a mask, and we all need to be extremely careful. The good news is that the ESSENTIALS remain the same. Interesting and storied people are still searching for perfumes with stories like no others, and Jovoy’s mission is still to help them find these fragrances. Thanks for your enthusiastic welcome, Sarah, and Cafleurebon.com. And by the way, Sarah, your mask is gorgeous!

Before March 11, the majority of Jovoy’s sales took place in our stores. Now the proportions have switched, and the majority of sales take place online. Perfumistas have learned that even if they’re stuck in their houses, or stores are closed, their fragrances are only two clicks away. It’s like having Jovoy at home. Anyone can try anything that’s available at Jovoyparis.com or jovoy.uk. And thanks to our extremely supportive partners, there’s a mountain of goodies to be had in the form of samples and free gifts. We’re super super generous now. We used to be quite good. Now we’re even better!

Jovoy Paris and Jovoy Uk Try me page

 “Try Me” Page

More big news is that Jovoyparis.com and Jovoyparis.uk have reinstated the “Try Me” experience, our sampling program which responds to the “My bottle is empty and I want to discover the new thing” syndrome. “Try Me” is based on the principle that we can divide a 100 ml bottle of fragrance costing 100 Euros into 100 individual one ml samples and sell them online for 1 Euro each.

For our in-store visitors, we’ve designed a whole new protocol for smelling opportunities in one-on-one or small group visits, while at the same protecting all of us from Covid-19 contamination. Come into the boutique and see how it works. After welcoming you at the front desk, we take you to our central ‘work station’ for an ultimate — and safe – fragrance-smelling storytelling experience. You tell us your stories – how, and which fragrances you like to wear, how this has evolved, what you’re longing for….  And then, since you can’t touch the bottles like you used to do, we bring you samples that correspond to your stories, and we TAKE TIME. At the end of the experience, even if you don’t buy anything, we’ve gotten to know each other, and you have 10 or 20 free samples, each with a new and very personal dimension. When you go home you might remember… “I met this guy who told me perfume stories. There was one that took me to an Alpine meadow, and another about a dazzling and luxurious line of perfume-colognes in jewel-toned bottles. Another story transported me to a rose plantation in Grasse, and yet another, plunged me into the azure waters of the French Riviera….”

Jovoy Parfums Rares HOT Brands REAL Stories

Andy Tauer L’Air des Alpes Suisses review

Andy Tauer fragrance L’Air des Alpes Suisses ©Sarah Colton

“A brand that’s literally flying off the shelves right now is Andy Tauer. We’ve had numerous requests for all his fragrances, especially L’Air des Alpes Suisses, which tops the list, perhaps, because its fresh purity is super appealing in this post Lock Down period.

ROJA Parfums blue Elysium review

Francois with ROJA Elysium ©Sarah Colton

ROJA Parfums, a beautiful, luxurious, and expensive brand is literally flying off the shelves these days. We all know Roja Dove for his amazing best sellers, Enigma, Diaghilev, and Scandal, or the Aoud and the Musk Aoud of the oriental collection. Most recently, Roja has taken a risk in changing his line a bit for a new cologne adventure.

 Roja parfums parfums colognes review

ROJA Parfums “parfum colognes”  ©Sarah Colton

The new ROJA “parfum cologne” collection is less concentrated, yet quite bold, and very much in demand. In fact, it’s an absolute success, especially the bright and versatile Elysium, which has found its public for sure!

Elisabetta Perris of Perris Monte Carlo

Elisabetta Perris,co-owner of Perris Monte Carlo, presented her fragrances at the Jovoy Press-day/Birthday Party a week before lock down, and they’ve been flying off the shelves ever since. Most popular, are those of the new “Grasse Collection” created by Jean-Claude Ellena — especially Rose de Mai.  Perhaps, it’s because so many of us weren’t able to travel to Grasse for the rose harvest this year, and Rose de Mai really and truly smells like you’re burying your nose in a handful of freshly picked rose de mai!

Atelier des Ors “Riviera Collection” reviews

Atelier des Ors’ most recent “Riviera Collection” takes you to the golden beaches and azure waters of the French Riviera.” ©Sarah Colton

Everybody loves Jean-Philippe Clermont, owner and artistic director of Atelier des Ors. All his fragrances are selling well now, especially his “Riviera Collection” which takes us to the golden beaches and azure waters of the French Riviera. We have lots of requests for samples and full bottles in this collection, especially Riviera Lazuli. Even if you can’t go there, you can smell it and dream! Bring your bathing suit!

Of all the things I’ve learned during the Covid19 Lock Down, perhaps biggest lesson is to TAKE TIME. Like everyone, during the Lock Down we didn’t have a choice in our situation. We were ‘trapped’. We had to stop. We had to take time and live with each other. And yet, even before the Covid19 Lock Down, many of us were caught in another kind of ‘trap’. One that created a situation in which we were often running away from each other and ourselves, using all sorts of excuses like, “I’ve got to go to work. I’ve got to go shopping. I’ve got to go — somewhere, anywhere, besides here.” Now this period of “Post-Covid19 Lock Down” has imposed a set of new changes to ways we conduct our businesses and day-to-day lives. Ironically, after reflecting on my own experience, I’m beginning to look at these changes less as an imposition, and more as the rare opportunity of a life-time to TAKE TIME.”

Today, you’re wearing masks and I have to wear this protective gear all day, which is well, an experience. Tomorrow is another day, and everyday we’re discovering an exciting new world. I’ve loved this opportunity to take time and be with you, and even from behind this plastic visor, you all look BEAUTIFUL!!-François Hénin

So many goodies there! Looking forward for the time when those protective measures won’t be necessary anymore and one can sniff and test all the perfumes in peace and with maximum pleasure.

I’m eager to smell Atelier Des Ors’ new collection: I love Bois Sikar and Larmes Du Désert, and so I’m confident their new collection is luminous.

  • Can’t wait to come and visit Jovoy again. Maybe the ducks will welcome me besides the wonderful personnel of this amazing and rare establishment. My last buy at Jovoy online was actually today; Oeillères by Roberto Greco. This is a gem that changes stages on skin line a caméléon! Besides the main bottle I ordered some ‘try me’ samples But to my astonishment I completely forgot to include Roja Dove. This what a wonderful surprise it is to have the possibility to have a complementary bottle sent to Belgium. Let’s draw!

I would love to visit Jovoy Paris one day. The fragrances that I enjoyed hearing the most about were theAtelier des Ors and Rojas of course. My husband would most certainly lose his mind if I won — thank you for this opportunity. usa

  • Great to see how things have changed to some degree during the pandemic. Also, Congratulations @Jovoyparis on your recent anniversary/ birthday. Aren’t we all grateful for online shopping especially over the last few months. I am so intrigued by the Riveria Lazuli. Not sure if my swimsuit still fits after all these years. 🙂 Maybe time for some online shopping for a new one, has it really been 25 years since I bought one?

  • Sarah thank you for the lovely reiew! I love Jovoy – the London one as I haven’t had a chance to visit the Paris store – and I do agrre , we will need to take time and re-evaluate how we shop, move and most of all, live!

  • Intrigued by Rose de mai the most because rose is my favourite note in perfumery. Sarah jumping up and down just sums it all up. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • Perfumistas have learned that even if they’re stuck in their houses or stores are closed, their fragrances are only two clicks away. It’s like having Jovoy at home.” A wonderful review by Sarah Jovoy is just perfume heaven. I am intrigued by Roja_Parfums Elysium the most sounds superb. Thanks a lot from the UK

I loved how the ducks where the last visitors before the lockdown (with an accompanying cute picture).
Also, the slow, careful sample and story exploration sounds like a great idea to experience when I can visit Paris again.

  • Sarah’s visit to Jovoy Paris with François Hénin was a delight to read about. A whirlwind of sites and fragrances. I’d love to visit Paris and all the wonderful fragrance shops they have. I’m absolutely jealous! Fragrances that entice me the most are gourmands and citrus scents. Really enjoyed the review. Thanks for it and the great giveaway. Commenting from Kentucky USA.

  • William Thomas Smallwood says:

This place is a wonderland! I want to go to there!!! Here in Portland we have Fumerie and It is great, but this place feels huge in comparison. Oregon, US.

  • twiggy3634 says:

My favorite thing of Sarah’s visit was her wearing her PPE! I live in Indiana, USA and I am most enticed by the Roja Parfum Cologne collection, hence why I immensely want to win the much hyped Elysium Cologne.

  • I really hope that one day i’ll be in Paris, walking into this amazing Jovoy shop and experience all the beautiful things that i’ve read in this article. Also the ideea with spliting one bottle in 100/1ml samples is absolutely great, giving a lot of people the opportunity to test several beautiful and new arriving fragrances. Would love to smell the new Atelier des ors line, thanks for the giveaway, i’m in the EU.

  • Haha I love that first photo! I am so due for a visit to Paris and Jovoy Parfums Rare ranks high on the must-visit list. The “Try Me” experience sounds like a great experience, I will definitely be looking into that. Have not sniffed any Andy Tauer fragrances before but its popularity tells me it might just entice me. Regards from the US.

  • Jake Dauod says:

I really liked François‘s attitude toward the interview. He is very optimistic and I like that he is promoting hope for things to get better. The fragrances that entice me the most would be Elysium and L’Air Des Alpes Suisses. I love both brands, but Roja’s is definitely my number one. I have only tested a small .7ml of Elysium and it was wonderful. Not to mention that I love his approach to fragrance and to see the passion that he puts into his products. Kind regards from Illinois, USA!

  • Kathy Hunter says:

I am in the USA and have been so sad that we cannot go to Paris and Jovoy this year. I have been thinking about Jovoy’s Rose Millesimee and had hoped to buy it on a trip this year. My children refer to Jovoy as my happy place and they are right!

  • Trinity33 says:

It’s inspiring to see how people are coping in this brave new world of Covid-19. With adversity comes inspiration and innovation and creative people will always find a way to persevere and succeed. I’m glad things are starting to return to some semblance of normal in Paris. I would love to sample the Elysium. Commenting from MD, USA.

  • Try Me is a great service and arguably the most cost-effective sampling service for customers. I am intrigued by Jovoy’s own line, Tauer’s, and Perris Monte Carlo. I am in US

  • Thank you for your insight into Jovoy Paris. I truly wish to be able to visit one day. Thanks for another fabulous draw! Mich USA

  • TeddynTawney says:

First of all reading about Sarah’s experience at Jovoy Paris brought up feelings, our trip to May Paris was cancelled due to Covid-19. I’m glad they are creatively adjusting . The “Take Time ” fragrance-smelling storytelling experience sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing. Live in Sunny Southern CA

  • herman2625 says:

Of ROJA Elysium !!! I want to have a whiff on it for a long long time!!
    US here!

  • Very happy to hear such a wonderful institution has reopened its doors, while taking a great step towards ensuring the safety of their customers. As for which fragrances that interest me, I would say anything from Tauer or Roja. Haven’t owned either, but would love to have a chance too. Big hello from WA state.

  • Vijay tilwani says:

‘Take time’ so right said for these times. Loved reading the interview and impressed how people adapt and continue their passion. Thanks for the draw, always wanted to own a Roja and keeping fingers crossed. An avid reader from Los Angeles, CA, USA

  • roxhas1cat says:

Love the ducks!!! Their website is my favorite how the major notes pop up without having to click on the fragrance. Makes browsing much easier to narrow things down. This shop is on my bucket list. Now if I could just get my passport which apparently has been delayed due to the stupid virus. I’m most interested in the Riviera Collection. I’m not surprised that Andy Tauer’s L’air de Suisse is a top seller. I bought a bottle when it first came out, so different, yet so good and transportive. So happy the shop is open and things are getting back to “normal”. Thanks for the chance. Usa.

  • An excellent review of Jovoy’s journey through the pandemic shutdown, and the newer initiatives to help perfumistas explore and purchase even more. To be honest, I am enticed by all fragrances, but perhaps most by dark brooding resinous, oudy fragrances which are not animalic. TX, USA.

  • NiceVULady says:

It was truly wonderful to see all the pictures of of people using masks and yet still being able to sample fragrances. I’m so interested in their sampling program, of which I was not aware. Would love to win the Roja. Thank you for the article and the great draw. I’m in the USA.

  • The first picture is exactly the spirit of what I think about Sarah’s review! After weeks of lockdown and of shops being closed, going to such a place (even in these restrictive conditions) is the ultimate sign of freedom! In my town there is no perfumery opened yet, but when they will open, i will feel the same, although there is no comparison to the “temple of perfume” that is Jovoy Paris! I was among the lucky ones who visited them last year and I am still marked by that moment. Thank you, Francois and Sarah, for sharing this moment with us! I live in Romania, EU.

  • Thank you for this beautiful review and the great pictures! I hope to go to that place myself one day. Would seriously love to be able to try a ROJA myself. Living in the EU

  • This was really interesting. I especially enjoyed reading about how you are now taken to their central work station where u discuss perfumes, preferences and the like and are given samples to try since you cant touch the bottles. It sounds like a great experience. Of the perfumes mentioned I have tried and enjoyed the Roja Parfum Colognes and would love to try the Atelier Des Ors as well as a number from Perris Monte Carlo. Commenting from CT USA. Thanks for the generous draw.

  • Valentina says:

In a strange way, this review made me think that I was there. Pushing the golden door handle, stepping shy into the store, Mr. Henin asking me what are my unicorn fragrances, me, sipping tea in a porcelain cup and waiting patiently for him to come back with nose-mazing samples from the back. Of course, I was only in my dreams in a Jovoy store, but I am sure that this is how it is!

I never was a fan of fresh fragrances, but the idea of L’Air des Alpes Suisses makes my heart skip a beat! I really need it! It’s my medicine!

Oh, Roja, I am not sure I will have in my life the joy of sniffing it… but only imagining that maybe I will someday brings serendipity into my life.

Thank you for all! Valentina, Romania, EU

  • My brother was studying in France before all of this and when I visited him we were lucky enough to go there and had an incredible experience.

It’s great to learn how they are dealing with it and because of Sarah’s visit , it gives me optimistic thoughts of the future where my brother and I are able to visit there again.

    Thank you.

    I’m from Ireland. Eu

  • Thank you Sarah for guiding me in on of the sacred places for fragcom, the Jovoy Parfums Rares in Paris. Tauer are in my Top 10, first in place L’Air Du Desert Marocain, followed by the fresh L’Air Des Alpes Suisses, PHI Une Rose de Kandahar and Incense Rosé. Have Roja Amber Oud, time to try the famous Elysium. I live in the EU.

  • marcopietro says:

Thank you Sarah for this brilliant report, and congratulations on the mask, really gorgeous! Jovoy has just restored the “try me” service and I immediately took advantage of it, a beautiful initiative. I love many of their brand’s fragrances and I admire François Hénin’s abilities. He is a very good and experienced entrepreneur, he is also a brilliant conversationalist, as I have had the opportunity to appreciate in the past. Among the fragrances mentioned in the review the most attractive tor me are definitely Elysium and L’Air des Alpes Suisses.
    I live in EU.
    Thanks so much!

  • Thank you for the beautiful pictures and stories. I first visited Jovoy three years ago, and immediately I was blown away by their enormous collection and the passion of the sales people. In these years I’ve visited jovoy numerous times and half of my collection was either bought in the boutique or online. Other than hundreds of unique brands they have there, their own Jovoy and Jeroboam collection are also amazing. Especially Jovoy, it has been my favorite niche brand for the last two years, every creation has been so creative and high quality. And I have to say whether in boutique or online the experience has been awesome, the sales people were very nice and patient, and also have a very deep fragrance knowledge. They often let me sample for a long time, and doesn’t worry at all if I’m buying or not. Last time I visited Jovoy boutique I had the honor of meeting Mr. Henin, and recognized him and went saying hi, and he greeted me and gifted me tons of samples, I still feel grateful for that. I’ll definitely visit Jovoy boutique again after all this pandemic is gone, and I’m looking forward discovering new fragrance there.
Thank you for the opportunity of the giveaway, and good luck to all.

  • I could be so interesting to visit such that place. And trying the new fragrances. Thank you for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • I really enjoy that they’ve been able to be creative and adapt! My favorite fragrance types are boozy woody fall scents!
I’m from Pennsylvania in the USA

  • Mister Henin looks like a humble man, even if he is running a business in the heart of Paris, but that’s because he is passionate about all that means perfume. A genuine and nice person and I am sure Sarah had a great time there, getting to speak with such a man.
    Thank you! Europe

  • What an uplifting visit. And Sarah’s mask IS gorgeous! I am so glad that Jovoy Paris has found a way to do business safely. The Grasse fragrances and the L’Air Des Alpe Suisses. I am in KS, US.

  • The pandemic cannot stop us from smelling and sampling great perfumes!
Thank you for the generous giveaway! I would definitely love to visit Jovoy Paris one day.
    Floride, USA

  • I love how we got the hear the story of how Jovoy has adapted and even better, a big thank you to Sarah for sharing her shopping experience. All of the brands mentioned in the article sound divine and I’d love to go smell them in person.

Thanks for the giveaway. I live in the USA.

  • It was interesting in Sarah’s article about the Jovoy opening, how they are adapting to new policies and are joyous and happy as well. I wuld love to visit there. I have been wanting to try the Roja fragrances for a long time. I love the Jovoy line especially Psychedelique USA

  • diegopineda says:

Wbat I enjoyed about Sarah’s visit is that the store is open, its a sign that the pandemic will be over one day.
The fragrance that entices me the most if of course Elysium by Roja Dove.

  • This was a wonderful virtual visit to Jovoy Paris. While I am perfectly fine and happy with online buying, and extol it’s virtues, now that non-online buying has been taken away (or severely restricted), I ache for a chance to visit stores, talk to real humans, hear their stories and sample things myself. I liked how Jovoy Paris allows people to sample fragrances and have stories about them, and create sample sets for people’s own stories. Never been to Jovoy Paris store but would like to. For now, clicking and exercising my fingers and forearms will do. I really like the idea of samples before buying expensive, large bottles. Hopefully their website also create the story experience, stories of fragrances, of people behind them, and stories for people buying them, that connect with stories from their past, as well as create new olfactory stories in the future. Thanks for the review of Jovoy Paris and the generous draw. Writing from USA.

  • I live in Paris so I had the chance to visit Jovoy after it reopens and I really appreciated the solutions they proposed to respect both the sanitary measures and to offer a pleasant shopping experience (which is complicated currently due to the mask and the impossibility to touch products) it is like a face to face meeting with a specialized sales person selecting and bringing bottles based on your preferences. You don”t loose much in terms of experience compared to other places I have visited

I’m very curious about Rose de Mai but to be honest I’m curious about so many perfumes that it is impossible to list them

Thank you for the visit, close to what it is in reality, a kingdom for perfume lovers

  • Thank you, Sarah for this beautiful trip to Jovoy Paris. I love love Jovoy Paris shop and Jovoy perfumes too.
I am especially intrigued by L’Air des Alpes Suisses- have hear many good reviews, but never tried.
And I liked assessment of new Cologne line of Roja Dove.
    USA

  • It’s nice to see so much positive creativity in the chaotic time in which we live. Both Francois and Sarah are gorgeous! 🙂 Wish you well 🙂 The Psychedelique and the Incident Diplomatique from Jovoy are the best for me. US

  • Oh excellent, I’m definitely going to be making a trip to visit when it’s possible, having someone guide you through that amazing selection would be amazing. I’m really interested in the return of Yohji Yamamoto and want to check those out and some of the Andy Tauer range I haven’t smelled yet. Might have to order some samples to tie me over 🙂
Stay safe, I’m in Dublin, EU.

  • As much as I enjoy shopping online, there is nothing like visiting a beautifully decorated, inviting and welcoming perfume store. Browsing through the many different smelling bottles and having a lovely chat with friendly staff make my trips to my local fragrance store always a memorable experience. I’m happy Sarah was able to convey the same message in her article.

I myself am waiting to go out and try Roja Enigma which has been recommended to me by a friend. I prefer aromatic fougeres, but she’s adamant I have to try it.

Thank you for the draw. I live in the UK.

  • That was quite an experience especially in these troubled times. It’s not great trying to smell fragrances through a mask but these beauties must make it through. I’d be stoked to try out the Roja Elysium Parfum Cologne. I’m in USA

  • The fragrance in question entices me the most, Elysium Parfum Cologne. I love colognes and can’t imagine smelling a cologne from a house of this quality. US

  • Great article about how the world has changes in the last 2 months. I don’t know when I’ll be next time in Paris, but I’ll visit the Jovoy store for sure. For Now I’ll profit from the try me service.
    I’m in EU, Slovenia.
PS: The first thign after stores reopened in SLovenia was smelling some perfume

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Sarah is correct in that we’ve all been given a chance to reflect on things that are most important in life despite the struggle of many in said situation. One of things that is encouraging is that resilience is heightened because of these types of incidents. Fragrance is one way we can “get away” from the negative aspects. Nice to see Sarah back in action. Andy Tauer’s fragrances intrigue me, especially LDDM. Appreciate the opportunity for this giveaway! -Virginia, USA

  • I believe with the lock down, brands and stores are becoming even more experience centric for the customers and in a way, people who go to the physical stores should somehow be even more treasured that they took the “risk” as opposed to the online shoppers.
I mean, online shopping is safer for sure, but there is nothing like to being in a perfume shop surrounded by so many bottles, so many calls to sniffs, talking with people about what you like and don’t like.
Congrats for reopening the store and for offering some of us the Jo(vo)y of shopping!

  • doveskylark says:

I love the idea of the storytelling experience. Yes, that must take more time for the staff to put into practice. So I admire their patience very much. I would love to delve back into Andy Tauer fragrances. I have tried his Lonestar Memories. He is the consummate storyteller with scent.
    I live in the USA.

  • Elysium is actually the one that appeals the most to me from the Roja line. I have yet to try any of the Atelier des Ors Riviera line, but plan to sample Riviera Lazuli. I enjoyed reading up on this, and hope things go well for all as we try to come back together, post-pandemic. I live in California, USA.

  • Thank you for this awesome post on Jovoy Parfums. I live in Houston Texas USA and Roja Elysium Parfum cologne entices me the most as I’ve smelt it in the stores before and can wait to own a full bottle

  • Take time… Let’s hope we all will look at Covid-19 lockdown not as a troubling impositon but more as the rare opportunity to learn to take time and slow down. I like the Try Me idea of dividing 100 ml bottle into 100 1 ml samples without extra costs. There is always so many interesting fragrances to know and to sample. I like your generosity with samples. I am sure it pays off in the end. The most enticing for me is Roja Elysium. I would love to have it for the upcoming summer. I live in the EU.

  • The reopening of this store is such good news and Sarah Colton’s visit made it even more special. I’m very curious about her book.
I was pleased to see Perris Monte Carlo Rose de Mai in one of the pictures and I’d be curious to try the Atelier des Ors creations. I appreciate the chance of winning the generous giveaway. I am in the USA.

  • Great visit from Sarah. I’m so glad to see the passion for fragrance they have at Jovoy. I love that there is a place out there where people can try niche fragrances with the help of knowledge people. At the moment I’m very enticed by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir and Oud Satin Mood. I would love to try something lighter such as Elysium.

Reading this was like taking a trip to a new perfume store, an experience I rather miss. Andy Tauer deserves all the love and sales for his incredible and memorable perfumes, good for him. I’m in the USA, thanks for the generous drawing.

It’s challenging for those that prefer to stay safe and shop online to sample and discover new fragrances before purchasing. This is where Jovoy’s (and hopefully other houses) ‘generosity’ with free samples fulfilled online gains importance. Most enticing are Rose de Mai and all Roja’s Parfum Cologne collection. VA, USA.

  • I’m always a bit overwhelmed in a perfume shop–I can only smell so much at once and I rely more on wearing a sample at home and seeing how it develops over the day. I love that they’re taking time to get to know their customers and I hope this is something that continues even if the risks we’re now facing fade away. I’m in the US and I hope I can one day visit and gather my own perfume stories!

  • Camille Sheil says:

I’m so happy to see that Jovoy is open again! It makes me immensely happy to hear how they’re doing samples so well! For me, living in a more rural location, ordering samples online is my only way to try new fragrances! I will check it out!

I’m also pleased to hear what people are buying. It’s so helpful to have something that puts a smile on our faces during this time. I love hearing how they ask questions regarding your propensities towards perfumes or smells.

Sarah truly does have a lovely mask! And it blessed me so much to see the stores opening again!

Saying which fragrances I am most drawn towards is still really difficult for me to say. I am still in the middle of trying a lot. My favorite still is Delina by Parfums De Marly. My second favorite is Oud For Greatness. These are fragrances that I could inhale. I suppose I love green fragrances, and woodsy fragrances. In a myriad of different variations.

Thanks for this opportunity! I live in New Hampshire USA!

  • What a wonderful reminder of a time before the Covid19 lockdown! To be able to walk into a perfume store sounds exciting and I can’t wait to do that again! What I’m most looking forward to trying is Riviera Lazuli but now that I’ve read this, Perris rose de mai sound amazing. Also realizing that I need to try more Jovoy scents. California, USA

  • Jannick85 says:

That looks like an amazing store hopefully i can come visit once this is alle over, and I would love to try the new atelier des Ors collection.

  • I was glad to read so many perfumes are literally flying off the shelves at Jovoy Paris in this period. I can understand the lockdown has gotten people feeling quite frustrated, bored and confined both physically and psychologically, and perfume is indeed one of the most effective ways of compensation, transporting the “smeller” to a much happier place. I live in the EU and the Roja Elysium Cologne and L’air des alpes sounded most appealing to me.

  • JOVOY PARFUMS RARES is a reference point for the selection of niche fragrances in France and in the world, I love the attention they devote to the customer, the invitation to slow down means starting to enhance the time we live and enjoy the small daily joys, how to wear a splendid ROJA, if only I’d win this parfum ……..

  • Lovely shop. Very beautiful with an awesome range of fragrances. As Sarah I find it really a party to visit the shop. I would love to try Roja Elysium Parfum Cologne. I live in EU. Thank you Jovoy and Cafleurebon for this wonderful draw!

  • It is really admirable how François has taken all precautions to reopen the Jovoy Paris store. If I lived in Paris I would feel safe going there.
In the UK here and looking forward to the Mayfair store opening
My husband would love Roja cologne and o would like to try the riviera collection as I read so much about the three

  • Thanks For Sharing. Seems like a great place to go and enjoy. I’d like to visit one day when I go to Paris. Heard of the fragrances mentioned but haven’t got the chance to try them out. It’ll be nice to. Thank You, Ca

  • Iuno Feronia says:

How I would love to live near this wonderful perfume store – my bank account would always be empty or even less 😉 I love Andy Tauer and his marvelous masterpieces, I love Perris Monte Carlo, but I have never tried one of Roja perfumes. But I would love to begin with this cologne. Thanks for the draw, I live in the EU, Austria.

  • Ron Phillips says:

What a wonderful post!!! I love that the fragrance word is coming back to life!!! Makes me so happy! I’m planning on purchasing a Try Me kit from Jovoy to help me narrow in on my top 3 faves which I’ll be purchasing for my replenishment plan. I’m also intrigued with Andy Tauer’s line & am looking forward to getting a bottle of L’Air des Alpes Suisses. I don’t mind blond buying his creations because I need many wearings to really understand his work at times, so samples just don’t cut it. I also love the new Roja Parfum-Cologne line & hoping to get Vetiver & Danger before the year ends. I’m currently in Phoenix, AZ.

Love this article, it truly give me a sense of hope for better things to come. I wish that someday soon I get to visit this magical store and smell every rare fragrance they offered. I really love to own all the ones you speak about in your article, they are all well know perfume houses. Well known for their qualities and use of rare natural materials. But although I love to have them all if I have to choose one, I’ll go for Atelier des Ors Riviera Lazuli. Thank you for another great article and for the opportunity to participate in this draw. I’m commenting from Orlando, Fl.

  • This was a fun virtual visit to Jovoy. A nice little escape. Rose de Mai is also one of my favorites, but ROJA Elysium Parfum Cologne is also quite intriguing. I live in the USA.

  • their joy is truly infectious, we can feel their happiness through the review! Thank you to jovoy team for
all the hard work for reopening the store despite the strict regulation.

Never tried any of A.Tauer creations, his perfume entices me the most.

It’s great to see things opening up again. Thank you for all the great pics.

I for one was not a fan of Les Alps Suisses (I had initially tried it in winter last year) but I need to try it again now that the weather has become warmer.

    Regards from WI, USA

  • I actually was happy to see the pictures and I am glad the shop is open again. Elysium Parfum seems to be perfect for this summer, and I love fresh fragrances. Alina from EU

  • Never tried but heard so many things about this. I honestly can’t wait for everything to open up to try some more fragrances. I’m in MI USA.

  • I’m really interested in L’Air des Alpes Suisses. The notes are a combo I have not tried before. I will definitely have to get myself a sample of that one.

Live in U.S. Thanks for this Roja opportunity.

Sarah’s visit to Jovoy Paris with François Hénin was a delight to read about. A whirlwind of sites and fragrances. I’d love to visit Paris and all the wonderful fragrance shops they have. I’m absolutely jealous! Fragrances that entice me the most are gourmands and citrus scents. Really enjoyed the review. Thanks for it and the great giveaway.

I have not been in Jovoy boutiques in person , but i have to say Psychedelique is beyond gorgeous, one of the best patchouli scents ever.
I’m a fan of how professionally Jovoy handles the situation, and changing the way they work to assure safety of their customers.
Roja Dove sure knows his job , no wonder the Cologne Line is selling so well.
What fragrance entices me from all available at Jovoy , or from the picks here ?
My favorite Roja Dove is Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux. Mesmerizing scent , my choice from fragrances Jovoy are selling, and the Roja Cologne Line from the picks here.
    Thanks for the draw

amazing! nice to see some semblance of normalcy is returning even with the necessary masks. I live in Minneapolis, MN, USA, and the fragrance from this line that interests me most is Enigma. I love spicy oriental frags!

  • I like the idea of the “try me” concept, Especially in these difficult times. Roja Parfums Elysium sounds great, I live in the UK

  • Uncle1979 says:

Only know one Jovoy fragrance . Bought a sample of Incident Diplomatique because of… again Sebastian speaking highly about it all the time. Classy fragrance . My girlfriend , and hopefully future wife bought me a bottle soon after.
Really nice brands are represented here , but hey Roja is Roja , what a high level perfumery , I need to dig in more . Since I’m a Pastry Chef I can’t decide what my favorite Roja fragrance is Sweetie Aoud, or Creation E.
I like the idea behind Jean-Philippe Clermont approach to business. Everything should be cleaned, super safe and masks, shields and gloves are a must.
That’s how we will work from Monday. I’m super excited customers will be able to actually eat at the bakery. Until Sunday will only deliver, plus occasional takeaways.
Good luck to all small business owners all over the world, we’ll endure this.
Appreciate the article, and the giveaway campaign

  • I really enjoyed about interesting and beautiful impressions from Jovoy.
Jovoy Paris us Mecca for me, dream which hope will come true. Francois Henin is so talented and creative person and seems very kind.
I like description of Rose de Mai and of course, new collection of Roja Dove. I love Roja very much.
    US

  • Yes, I absolutely agree with Jean-Philippe Clermont. TAKE TIME. That is the most important thing I am taking from this crisis with covid. Just be. Enjoy the little things. Center yourself. Take better care of yourself. Eat better. We have all this time on our hands so we really should look inward and focus on the things that matter most in life.

I’ve always wanted to try ROJA. I’ve read so many glowing reviews. I would be thrilled to finally own it.

    I live in the USA.

  • What a amazing trip, Sarah. I want the same…I love love love Jovoy Paris. I bought some perfumes from Jivoy online shop, but need see and touch this beauty in reality. Roja new Cologne line is beautiful!

Jovoy Paris is what Michael Jordan is to NBA, the epitome of niche fragrances knowledge, and service like no other. It’s was so sad they had to shut down temporarily because of …. Such a great news Paris boutique is now open , London fill follow soon. From Jovoy as a brand i do own full bottle of the famous Les Jeux sont Faits – fantastic night out scents. One of the best out there-to me at least.Remember Me i also own.
I applaud Jovoy for “Try Me” , their sampling program. Sampling in the States could be really expensive, $5-$8 even more per sample.
I do understand the online sales being the majority of Jovoy sales lately, but I don’t think it’s a longterm trend . I believe in a few months thing will go back to normal, or at least close to what it was before the….
All four houses mentioned by Sarah and Francois I like a lot, I have 2 of each.
    @cafleurebon and @jovoyparis i already follow . I also follow the other 2 Jovoy boutiques I’ve been to @jovoymayfair and @jovoyuae . Just followed @badgirlsperfume

  • Sounds like a wonderful store that really takes time to match someone with the right fragrance!

I live in Montana, USA. I’m really enticed by the Tauer fragrance mentioned. I haven’t tried anything g from the house, but their reputation is very good!

Sarah, I enjoyed learning about your visit to Jovoy Parfums Rares Botique. There are so many brands that I love such as Atilier, Roja, and Jovoy. I love the concept and convenience of online shopping. I also appreciate the safety measures that are taking place in the store and the generosity with additional samples for the customer to try. Roja Parfums Elysium and Enigma entice me the most. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • Steliyan Syarov says:

I would love to own a bottle of this beautiful scent! Very interesting mix of grapefruit and vanilla. Sounds perfect for the summer! EU, Austria

  • Philip Ling says:

Sarah’s visit really highlights Jovoy Paris’ commitment to keeping customers safe. Living in USA and I would have to saw the ROJAs entice me the most.

  • These are challenging times, and Jovoy seems to have learnt how to turn it to their advantage, which is even more dedicated customer service. Bravo! These relaxed and intimate perfume discovery sessions will surely be a huge success.
I am in France, EU, and I have read very nice things about the recent Perris Montecarlo fragrances. And those blue Atelier des Ors bottles are gorgeous!

  • Attention to detail in Francois Henin attempts to bring back the customer to Jovoy one way, or another is remarkable. I’m impressed.Les Jeux Sont Faits is my favorite Jovoy. Underrated tobacco and rum gem I’m happy to have.
3/4 of the brands I’m familiar with Andy Tauer , Perris Monte Carlo and of course Roja Dove. Atelier des Ors I only know by name.
L’Air des Alpes Suisses , Riviera Lazuli and Roja Dove Parfum Cologne are the 3 I’m drawn to. Rose de Mai sounds really good too, but it’s getting warmer and I rarely wear rose fragrances in the summer.
To me Roja Dove is what niche, and high end perfumery should be. Adventurous, classy ,different fragrances going through different phases. Parfum Cologne series success was not a surprise to me, I was expecting it.
    Thanks for the opportunity.

Jovoy Paris is by far the best fragrance boutique i’ve ever been to-no US boutique comes even close . Favorite Jovoy is Remember Me , but i do not own it yet . I have Incident Diplomatique .

“More big news is that Jovoyparis.com and Jovoyparis.uk have reinstated the “Try Me” experience, our sampling program which responds to the “My bottle is empty and I want to discover the new thing” syndrome.”Try Me” is based on the principle that we can divide a 100 ml bottle of fragrance costing 100 Euros into 100 individual one ml samples and sell them online for 1 Euro each.”

This will NEVER happen in US , and i really mean NE-VER , mark my words. US boutiques are making huge profits from selling really small samples for unfair prices. Sometimes I feel some are making more money decanting and selling samples, rather than bottles.
I have respect for all Andy Tauer , Roja Dove, Perris Monte Carlo and Atelier des Ors, L’Air des Alpes Suisses is the one I don’t know.
I still think I’ll put Roja Dove first.Risque for men is in my possession – phenomenal scent , and the best Roja Dove fragrance i’m familiar with , and one of the best fragrance i’ve ever smelled. It’s marketed for men only, but it’s 100% unisex to me-as a woman i don’t have a problem wearing it.In US is known as Creation R….don’t know why?!?
    Thank you
Hopefully soon I’ll be able to get back to my usual routine of back and forth between USA and Scotland. For now I’m in VA only

That is amazing, I wish I could be there some day. May be able to try different perfume from the house of xerjoff, widian. 100ml of 100 different perfume!!! That sound like heaven to me. Andy tauer probably my new one for me to get tester from, sound really great. Sending from Texas USA.

  • It’s always pleasing to read about places where customer is king , and not treated like walking pile of money, that needs to be taken at any cost.
Up until recently, I was not aware of Jovoy fragrances. Checked them out, and boy oh boy I was so wrong with my “Maybe later” policy towards the house.Remember Me is in my possession now, green tea, warm, spicy and lactonic. Must try fragrance !
You could say I’m greedy, but I’m enticed by all here , the fragrances, the vibe and the bright side of what the future holds.
I own a barbershop, and I’m happy Francois is able to do what he loves, to sell special fragrances . Starting Monday I’m opening the barbershop, and also doing what I love. Finally I was allowed to work, and provide for my family. Of course I can relate to Francois.
Thanks to Jovoy for the chance, and to Sarah of course.

Never been to any of Jovoy boutiques, but Jovoy fragrances I can judge. La Liturgie des Heures , Psychedelique , Les Jeux sont Faits Jovoy and Private Label are the Jovoy fragrances i have sampled ~ a month ago. La Liturgie des Heures review was done again by Dana , she likes Jovoy a lot 🙂 I like it , i mean La Liturgie des Heures, but unlike the others it stays really close to the skin . The other 3 are much stronger , i’m not sure if the concentration was different , or it’s just my opinion.Les Jeux sont Faits Jovoy i found to be the best smelling one of the four , and i’ll most likely buy it for the autumn .
As for the so called crisis, more like pseudo crisis , it’s good to be safe and to keep customers safe , but what Jovoy employs are forced to wear , just to be able to work is overkill. I only wish I was able to buy such a cheap samples. Never seen such customer oriented policy as 100ml= €/$/£100 , 1ml=€$£1 . It’s almost hard to believe.
Which fragrances entices me? What are we judging exactly?
    A) If it’s the four Francois is talking about,
Elysium Parfum Cologne is the best one.
    B) If it’s the best from each brand
-Favorite Roja Dove I do Vetiver Pour Homme
    Parfum Cologne and Creation-E Parfum
-Favorite Tauer Perfumes L’Air du Desert Marocain of course
-Favorite Atelier Des Ors Lune Feline
-Favorite Perris Monte Carlo Bois D’Oud

  • Thank you Sarah, for introducing me to the Try Me service. I need to use that to try the rest of the Roja Parfums Cologne series. So far I have tried Enigma and Elysium, which I loved both of! Thank you for giving me a chance to win a bottle of Elysium. Kind regards from Denmark.

  • This is interesting and I’m glad they are open and selling their fragrances with extra caution. Giving out free samples is very nice and so generous. And yes the biggest lesson is to take time.
I live in USA USA. I really love Scandal.

  • We really need a Jovoy San Francisco. I totally agree that it it is important that we “take time” and learn to reset evaluating what we needs to valued. I happy that Sarah reported that “Try Me” has been reinstated. Here in California.
