Teo Cabanel Ca Boum Review (Patrice Revillard) 2021 +  Solar Sand Lily Draw

Teo Cabanel Ca Boum review

Teo Cabanel Ça Boum by Olya Bar

The story dates back to 1893 when Theodore Cabanel began composing precious Eaux de Cologne and Quintessence for handkerchiefs. In 2000, Caroline Ilacqua inherited the perfume house and the story of the Cabanel family; together with the notebooks full of enchanting perfume formulas ready to be revived. The time has come to tell a new story using new ingredients, fresh perspective and urban French flair.

Teo Cabanel Ça Boum composed by Patrice Revillard starts with a blast of solar accord and a pinch of salt, inspired by the bewitching “Sand Lily” which grows in sand and grasslands. It has a fleshy, slightly solar sweet fragrance that has an iodized vibe to it, as if someone washed a bouquet of white flowers in the sea and left it dripping wet under the blazing sun. The heart is filled with jasmine and rose duo, but it feels subdued and restrained, letting the sand lily take the stage. There is a whiff of dryness in the fragrance, brought on by immortelle, adding a sweet scent of hay with fresh honey, wafting in the air during the fall harvest.

Teo Cabanel Ça Boum feels not only comfortable to wear, but it fits all occasions and styles. It feels raw yet finished, soft yet confident, elegant yet approachable.  It’s one of the most modern takes on vanilla; an urban filter, a fragrance you could wear as second skin. Ça Boum is a vibe, a peaceful state of mind when you feel like yourself, and it feels good and uncomplicated. It effortlessly found its way into my everyday life; I find myself reaching for it for comfort and pleasure of wearing something familiar. By taking my bottle upon receiving it to the beach with me this perfume became etched in my olfactory memory – a perfect day, chasing the last sunrays of the season.

Beautiful beach sunsets

Sunset on the beach By Olya Bar©

Ça Boum smells like the hour when day gives in to night and summer gives way to fall; the air feels a tad chillier, yet the sun still caresses you with its gentle touch. I cling to the last few days of warmth, as my skin tingles from the cool salty breeze. There is nothing quite like slipping into the ocean during sunset, letting the water softly wrap itself around you -invigorating, exciting, and calming all at once. Aren’t we all chasing that exact thing when we reach for something we adore? That’s Ça Boum in a nutshell.

Notes: Sand Lily, Salt, Jasmine, Rose,  green Vanilla, Immortelle.

  • I’ve wanted to try this one it came out just after I recieved my sample set unfortunately. I enjoyed reading about the Sand Lilly accord and the general feeling of the piece was calming with the visuals etc. The fragrance sounds like it is comforting as well. Ive very much enjoyed Oh La La and Et Voila was nice as well. Thanks for the generous draw, from CT USA.

  • Second photo in the sand is just amazing. Notes mentioned are intriguing (saltiness vs honey). I’ve never tried Teo Cabanel but Kasar is on my radar for quite some time now. I live in Germany

  • I haven’t been to the beach in a long time, so I would love to get my nose on this. The notes seem so calming. Thanks for the draw. From Indianapolis.

  • Thank you for the review! I enjoyed ‘setting sun’ vibe portrayed in the review. I enjoy Cafe Cabanel from Teo Cabanel, sadly I have not tried any other.
    Thanks from Canada!

  • Teo Cabanel Ca Boum is a wonderful fragrance, I was lucky to have a sample. Love Olya’s review. I agree how she compared it to the beach. That’s exactly how I felted when I first smelled it. Thank you for this Chance.USA

  • Olya! I Love your review! ❤️ Wow, do I want to experience this fragrance! I adore how you describe the sea as the sun sets (it is a bit like the last day of summer). The notes on Ca Boum sound gorgeous & very much a kind of crystalline bliss. I am not familiar with Teo Cabanel, but I will certainly get to know this house! Thank you for an amazing opportunity! ❤️ USA

  • The combination of salty accords and sand lily seems to be unique and original idea. I have never tested something from Teo Cabanel before as they are not sold in my country. I am based in EU.

  • Thank you for the review Olya.

I had no idea Teo Cabanel has been around for over a century! It’s always great a bit of a backstory about these great perfume houses.

I’ve never smelled Sand Lily and am quite curious to find out.
You’ve piqued my interest by calling it a transitional fragrance. Going from day to night, from summer to fall. To me it’s a feeling where I am about to get up and have fun. Getting together with my friends after not seeing each other for a while. Such a great moment.

I have tested Oh La La and Et Voila, but do not own any full bottles yet.

    Greetings from the UK!

  • In search of a good salty floral, this one sounds right on the money. Never tried this brand before but who wouldn’t go for a sundried seawashed boquet. What a great chance, fingers crossed! From Portland OR USA

  • I did not have a chance to try anything from this brand yet, but Teo Cabanel Ca Boum sounds very lovely from the review. It sounds like a floral garden right by the sea. I would very like to try it. Thank you for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • I haven’t tried any fragrances from Teo Cabanel. Ça Boum sounds like a special blend of immortelle, salt and 2 of my favorite floral notes – rose and jasmine. I do enjoy a salty fragrance during the warmer months. I love the sunset pic! Thanks for another fabulous draw! Mich USA

  • I love the idea of taking a scent to a destination or event with the intention of associating that scent with that event. Brilliant. In maryland.

  • I enjoyed the ending of the review the most. What a vivid description of the what it feels like to be outside at the beach at sunset while feeling the water and cool air. If this perfume captures that feeling, I really want to try it! I want to try the discovery set from Teo Cabanel but it has been sold out on their website. in Texas.

  • I hear vanilla, I hear second skin…exactly what I look for in a fragrance. I have tried Barkhane but it was a little too smoky on me. This one sounds more like me. I am in New York.
    Thank you!

  • Sun, salt, white floral and vanilla? I feel like this fragrance was custom-made for me! I am so happy to be acquainted with Teo Cabanel Ca Boum! In Louisiana USA.

  • Olya, I feel the same way about this scent – it “feels good and uncomplicated.” I went through my sample very quickly and missed it right away. I think this aesthetic carries over into many of the new scents in the line, actually. I also love Oh, La La and Je Ne Sai Quoi.(USA)

  • I love a unique take on beach scents and I’m sure Teo Cabanel has created just that. Putting in the immortelle is what immediately caught my attention. I would love to smell this one! My favorite from this line is Alahine. US

  • Wonderfully informative review Olya! What I enjoyed most about Olya’s review of Teo Cabanel Ca Boum is learning that the inspiration is the “Sand Lily”, a unique flower that grows in sand. I love that such a resilient flower has inspired this gorgeous fragrance, rather than the usual delicate blooms that populate most perfumes. Resiliency is something I greatly admire, particularly after this trying year we’ve all had.

I live in the US. I have not tried any Teo Cabanel fragrances before, but I really want to try Oha and Early Roses, and Kasar.

  • I never tested any Teo Cabanel creations and Ca Boum by Olya’s review seems to be invigorating and calming, warm and chilling all at once, beatiful and easy to wear, thanks from Romania!

Notes: Sand Lily, Salt, Jasmine, Rose, green Vanilla, Immortelle. A beautiful description by Olya really fascinated by the notes especially sand, rose and vanilla. A house that I am not familiar with but I am intrigued by the notes and description. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

A house that I am familiar with but I have not tried anything by this house. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • I agree with Olya, Ça Boum is a peaceful fragrance. Teo Cabanel is one of my favorite houses. I ordered Et Voila and Oh La La in August and am still anxiously awaiting their arrival (fingers crossed they will be here soon). Ça Boum and Rendez-vous are on my wishlist. I have really connected with Teo Cabanel and would love to add more of their fragrances to my collection. I am in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA.

  • Vasco Trancoso says:

It makes sense in these days of pandemic to remember the freedom and happiness of past summers when we had not yet realized that we were living in a paradise and had not yet faced with serious climate problems.
I’m very curious and interested in this fragrance whose notes I associate with beautiful and unforgettable olfactory memories of late afternoons on a beach along the dunes of the Portuguese coast, in front of the Pessegueiro (means Peach Tree) island, where I was blessed by a sea breeze that conveyed at the same time the comforting, spicy and relaxing scent of the “Immortelles” flowers.
So I can’t wait to try Ça Boum.

  • Great review by Olya, really enjoyed it, thank you. I loved his description : “peaceful state of mind when you feel like yourself, and it feels good and uncomplicated.” That’s exactly how I will remember/ think of this perfume now. Sweet and salty, calming and comfortable. Lovely. And I LOVE jasmine and vanilla notes.
    Many thanks, UK

  • I have sampled Ca Boum and while i do think it does not last very long, to me it is quite seductive and very feminine, not unisex. But ot each their own. I would still like to win it, as a gift to my loved one. I myself own Et’ Voila from Teo Cabanel and i enjoy this clean skin accord fragrance very much. Much love, thank you for the opportunity. I live in Romania, EU.

  • wandering_nose says:

On top of the notes being amazing in their simplicity, Olya’s review has immediately warmed me up to the fragrance. A modern vanilla that feels like seconds skin sounds amazing. And the picture of the beach at sunset is just otherworldly! Recently I have been into perfumes that have a calming, relaxing effect and Ça Boum seems to be one of them. I have also started appreciating versatility in perfumes more so that would be another big bonus to Patrice Revillard’s creation. I have not had a chance to try any of Teo Cabanel fragrances. Based in the Republic of Ireland, EU

  • Salty notes with jasmine and vanilla!!! I love that! I never tried any of Teo Cabanel fragrances before, but I’d love too! I’m from Sweden

  • constancesuze says:

Whenever reviews say more about the vibe wearing it than about the fragrance itself, I’m always curious to test 🙂
I don’t have much experience with Teo Cabanel’s line

  • Those beach days sound lovely. This does sound like a perfect every day fragrance as well as one to attach to a memory. Great review. I have heard of Teo Cabanel fragrances, but have not tried any yet. I live in the US.

  • The olfactory image of sea water washed white flowers drying in the seaside sun paints such an inviting picture of this fragrance in my mind. As someone who loves visiting the ocean, the photos used in this review are a perfect compliment to the written review. Thank you for doing this giveaway. I’m in the US.

  • We must pay tribute to Caroline Ilacqua, she took the revival of the family business into her own hands and brought it to the state it is now. This is admirable! I really liked Olga’s review because she masterfully managed to convey the atmosphere and mood of the Golden Hour not only with her photographs, but also with capacious juicy text.
My favorite Teo Cabanel fragrance is Oh La La – such an addictive gourmand gem!
    I am from Wisbech, UK.

  • Olya, like you I believe there is no better feeling than the one of being invigorated, excited, and calming simultaneously. If this fragrance is reminiscent of this state, it is one I will have to familiarize myself with.
I have not yet had the privilege of getting my nose on any of the fragrances from this house, yet. However, in addition to Ca Boum, Barkhane and Rendez Vous are at the top of my list to try. Thank you for the opportunity of being a part of this giveaway. USA

  • Francesca Brice says:

Olya takes me on a journey of meeting the world of nature, where the ocean meets time and I travel with, through and beyond. The fragrance takes me there- poetry…. Transitions….sensations…
    Sounds truely wonderful!

  • “ Ça Boum smells like the hour when day gives in to night and summer gives way to fall; the air feels a tad chillier, yet the sun still caresses you with its gentle touch. ” – this part spoke to me so much. It’s indeed a magical time of year – when summer is slowly leaving and autumn is slipping in with that soft feeling of nostalgia, but is not deep dark and gloomy yet. One feels comforted, yet nostalgic.
I have never tried Teo Cabanel before, though I have heard great things about many fragrances by this house.
    I am in the EU.
    Thanks!

  • I loved the way Olya described that it smells like the transition of day to night and summer to fall!!.Greece. I haven’t tried any of Teo’s Cabanel perfumes unfortunately.

  • I enjoyed the part about the fragrance notes. I live in Poland EU. I never tried any Teo Cabanel fragrances yet.

  • Invigorating, exciting, and calming, all at once – this description of Teo Cabanel Ça Boum by Olya summed it up for me. Teo Cabanel Ça Boum seems to be a peaceful scent which also cheers you up, sort of like green tea, calming and awakening at the same time. Not familiar with sand lily, so I am curious about Teo Cabanel Ça Boum. And the fact that it is based on formulas written more than a century ago makes it more interesting. These old school formulas were simple, but based on a lot of knowledge and experimentation, hence were effective in what they were designed for. I have never tried Teo Cabanel perfumes, but would love to, if they are easily available in the USA. By the way, loved, loved, loved the photo of Sunset on the Beach by Olya – conveyed the feeling of the warmth, the coolness, (the cozy and invigorating aspects respectively of Teo Cabanel Ça Boum) and the beauty and joy of wearing this perfume very well, as explained in her words. Thanks for the review and draw. From USA.

  • I love how Olya’s review paints a picture in my mind, making feel and reminisce relaxing at a beach. I can almost feel the wind blowing, the sun warmth, and the waves touch as I read through.
The most interesting thing to me is how Olya used solar as a note, I really wonder what that smells like in a perfume.
Thank you for this beautiful review!
Have a fragrant day to all. USA, South Carolina

  • I enjoyed Olya’s review very much, when I hear about vanilla based fragrances I am a bit weary since I am not too much into gourmand fragrances… But Olya refers to CA Boum as to one of the most modern takes on vanilla and indeed the salty facet as well as the interesting sand lily note have intrigued me a lot. I still have to try some of Teo Cabanel’s perfumes so I would love to be the lucky winner! Greetings from Italy

  • Lovely review for the waning days of summer. The pics are gorgeous. I never really thought of vanilla for a summer fragrance but the florals and the salt accords steer it into a sun-soaked vibe. I’ve never tried any Teo Cabanel fragrances before. I’m in MD, USA.

  • There are four Teo Cabanel fragrances i know, Oh Là Là , Barkhane, Cafè Cabanel and Ça Boum. All four are really good in their own way.
I agree with Olya about Ça Boum , it’s modern, beachy , not overly sweet vanilla and florals fragrance, that can easily put you into vacation mode .
Grasslands ? Could be , there’s something green in Ça Boum, that’s adding interesting additional nuance to the fragrance.
Thanks to Olya, and Teo Cabanel , and cheers with Cabernet Sauvignon
Back and forth between USA and Scotland, two weeks in US -> two weeks in Scotland, and so on. Basically both USA and UK at the same time

  • This review was very soothing to read and I loved that olya have clear visuals on how this smells. I have never tried anything from Teo Cabanel, and am grateful for a chance to try it! From Iowa

  • What I enjoyed most was this line, ” Ça Boum smells like the hour when day gives in to night and summer gives way to fall; the air feels a tad chillier, yet the sun still caresses you with its gentle touch”. I have yet to try any from this house. US

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA, and have only tried one fragrance from the House – Cafe` Cabanel.

  • I have never tried a Teo Cabanel fragrance before, but I would really love to try this one! I really enjoyed how Olya described the feel of this fragrance, and it sounds like the perfect fragrance to wear right now (as the seasons are shifting). Kind regards from IN, USA.

  • I love Olya Bar’s description of Ca Boum using beach analogies. The fragrance sound very inviting to say the least. Greetings from Maryland, US

  • If someone washed a bouquet of white flowers in the sea and left it dripping wet under the blazing sun… Very interesting!! What a cool inheritance, I would love to see them notebooks full of goodies, I bet. Awesome review Olya Bar as usual!! I’ve sampled but this is the one I wanted to the most. USA thanks Cafleurebon for this amazing draw & good luck everyone!!

  • Really interesting to read about how all the fragrance come to from her from notebook she inherited. Vanilla salty vibe it got, love to wear this fall. I am in Sweden EU

  • MarkMarkMark678 says:

    Olya,
I was going to leave a comment about how much I enjoyed your review because it was so descriptive (like white flowers washed in the sea, dripping over sand, drying in the hot sun… brilliant) yet it wasn’t filled with college level words that I can’t understand.

But what I wanted to say as I was reading through is how your photos actually moved me to emotion, it pulled emotion out of me and I don’t know why.

    Sunset on the beach.
As I read what you wrote:
“like the hour when day gives in to night and summer gives way to fall; the air feels a tad chillier”
I felt a sense of yearning, longing, regret as if I had missed out on something or hadn’t lived to the fullest during the vibrant summer time, and that chapter of my life would be closed.

I can’t explain it, but I felt it.

    Great job Olya.

    I live in Houston Tx.
And I have never had the pleasure of sampling anything from Teo Cabanel

  • Enjoyed most here the idea of a scent smelling like sun, some flowers and sand, and still being more like second skin then something captivating the attention. Never tried Cabanel fragrances.

    Living in the EU

  • Thanks for the fantastic review Olya!

I love how this fragrance is based on the Sand Lily and I’m very interested in knowing more this solar accord. I also love how the review states that this is a very modern urban take on a vanilla fragrance.

The pictures in this review are great!

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Olya take on Ça Boum reminded me of making Salted Caramel Cake , and imagined eating it , while sitting on Plage du Prado beach in Marseille.
I’m familiar with Oh Là Là, and Cafe Cabanel.
Oh Là Là to me it smells similar to Hazelnut Cake with Saffron cream i do in my bakery, happy Pastry Chef in the house ‍
Almond Coffee Cake with cup of cappuccino , and freshly squeezed juice is how Cafè Cabanel smells to me . My favorite of the two.
Appreciate Olya Bar review , and the giveaway campaign

  • Salty-sweet beachy fragrances are really trendy lately, Ça Boum will be quite popular , and successful offering .
People are genuinely praising Teo Cabanel fragrances all the time, especially Les Expressions Parfumées collection. So I decided to order the discovery set. Barkhane I knew before , all others were new to me.
Your opinion may differ, but I think the whole Les Expressions Parfumées collection is for warmer , and the original collection is more for the colder Fall and Winter weather.
Barkhane is my favorite Teo Cabanel
    Thank you Olya, Teo Cabanel

  • Xochitl Pardo Valdivia says:

What I loved about Olya’s review was how this scent makes the wearer feel calm and peaceful because they feel like themselves. That’s what we’re really all striving for, right? A scent that fits us like a glove, an extension of ourselves. I have read a lot about Teo Cabanel fragrances but have yet to experience them in person. I’m from Healdsburg, California. Thank you for this opportunity!

  • This must capture that sandy coast by the sea so well, the notes providing that atmospheric aura.
    Great review by Olya.
    I’m in Canada

  • Vanillander65 says:

I’m intrigued by the idea of sand lily being used in a perfume, it’s quite rare. From Olya’s review, Ca Boum sounds like a hug that energizes you.
I have not tried any of the Teo Cabanel fragrances, but I would love to.
I’m from the EU. Thank you for the draw!

  • Wow. Olya’s review was so visceral and enticing. I love how Ça Boum is likened to a vibe and just reading this excerpt makes me want to be lounging on the warm beach surrounded by the sillage of this fragrance. I’ve been hearing a lot about “solar” accords so I am very intrigued to experience something that offers this note. I have never experienced any Teo Cabanel fragrances but it seems like they have been gaining a lot of traction lately and I would love the opportunity to experience one of their offerings. Cheers from Illinois, guys!

  • “Ça Boum smells like the hour when day gives in to night and summer gives way to fall!” Well, September is here and my chilly mornings and evenings need a transitional scent, delicious and comfortable.

This sounds great, I love my salty vanillas (Vanilla Vibes especially) and Ca Boum would be a great addition!

Yes, I am familiar with the stunning Café Cabanel. I live in Europe and I would love to enter.

  • I am already missing summer so I would happily wear Ca Boum in the dead of winter just to remind myself of my favorite time of year. Olya’s description of a slightly solar, easy to wear fragrance and the feelings it evokes for her is what made this such an enjoyable read. Sand lily is a note/accord I haven’t smelled so it was also nice to hear her take on it.

I have heard of Teo Cabanel and have seen their beautiful bottles but haven’t tried them yet. Thanks for the giveaway. In the USA.

  • I have only heard of this company-I’ve never tried anything from them yet. If this fragrance has “urban French flair”, then I am interested in trying it, and I like it’s ingredients listing. I’m not sure if I’ve ever smelled green vanilla, and I’m interested to see what is meant by “It’s one of the most modern takes on vanilla”. I live in MD., U.S.A.

  • I’ve smelled all Teo Cabanel fragrances , excluding the 2 latest offerings Ça Boum , and Rendez Vous .

“fleshy, slightly solar sweet fragrance that has an iodized vibe to it”
Just like Olya , I’m still craving the Summer weather, and atmosphere, Ça Boum is right up my alley , pleasant welcoming fragrance.
My overall Teo Cabanel rating would be:
    1.Cafè Cabanel
    2.Barkhane
    3.Oh Là Là
    Thanks a lot
USA only, not for long I hope

  • Summer days are really ending, the leaves are falling of the trees, and Ca Boum would help me keep the Summer spirit alive for a bit longer. Sandy , salty and sweet uplifting skin accord fragrance, Ca Boum is so joyful.
I have no experience with Teo Cabanel fragrances, a lot of people are talking about Cafe Cabanel on Social media.
    Nice giveaway, USA

Those photos with wave and sunset – wow, looks so wonderful! Bravo, Olya Я в восторге!

    Great article.
I like the idea of a peaceful sunset in early autumn, it is usually the most “golden” one.
The description sounds as if the floral nature of this fragrance complements the inner beauty inside while everything around dries up.
    Sounds romantic.

    I’m from EU. Ukraine, Kyiv

  • Love this review!
    Here’s my favorite part.
Thanks for the very generous giveaway, I live in the U.S.
Have not tried anything from this House.

  • The new up to date marine vanilla Ca Boum I need to sample Moody vacation fragrance.
I’m a big fan of Teo Cabanel Alahine , drydown is pure magic. My crystal , transparent bottle is really old , 12 years old maybe . I’m not sure if current version of Alahine smells 100% the same . I know the bottle was changed 2-3 times during the years.
    Thank you all

  • The Summer, the sun can’t last forever. The days are shorter, colder and really windy. Ca Boum i think is like the last breath of Summer, going into Fall , the salty , sweet herbal vanilla could keep the Summer mood a bit longer.
Yes I do know Teo Cabanel, I have samples of Oha , and Cafe Cabanel .
Oha is voluptuous rose, gorgeous citrus and tea notes coming through, and everything melding together in a lovely way.
Teo Cabanel smells like my everyday afternoon Califia Farms XX Espresso Cold Brew Coffee Really , delicious mix of cold brew Arabica , almond milk and cane sugar.
Oha and Cafe Cabanel are equally as good in my opinion.
    Thanks for the draw
