The two latest releases from Xerjoff, Richwood and Damarose, are excellent examples of their design aesthetic. Richwood welds together rose, sandalwood and patchouli; Damarose creates a lush opulent rose chypre. Both of these fragrances show what can be done when the finest ingredients are available to be used by a perfumer.
At the 2010 Sniffapalooza Fall Ball we were introduced to Oud For Highness 75 which was made for King Hussein of Jordan. 2009 seemed to have a weekly release of an oud centric fragrance. 2010 has seen that release pattern return to more normal levels. Which is good because if Oud For Highness 75 came out a year earlier I think I might have missed some of its quite beautiful subtleties.
In celebration of the company’s 10th anniversary, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle collaborated with Dominique Ropion to create what they consider their “masterpiece” fragrance. Malle and Ropion sought inspiration via–Geranium Pour Monsieur

Sometimes the more I like a perfume the harder it is to write about. It’s because I want to do it justice- to the perfumer, to the creative process, and to the creation itself. During this Natural Perfumer’s Guild Outlaw Perfume Project I have felt a little intimidated by 2 perfumes, firstly Mata Hari by Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, and secondly by Rose of Cimarron by Bellyflowers Perfumes. I enjoy Rose of Cimarron for the lovely scent creation that it is, and for the historical link, again to a famous outlaw.
