In 2011, Diptyque released a fragrance called 34 Boulevard Saint Germain. Designed to remind the wearer of the fragrance one would experience on entering the Paris flagship store. This spring, another version was released, L’Eau du Trente-Quatre, to represent the greener aromas that emerge in the shop when Paris heats up in the summertime.
The most recent perfumer to take on muguet is Jerome Epinette in the new fragrance for Byredo called Inflorescence. In a note he said, Inflorescence is “the interpretation of a muguet, greener, fresher and more stylized than the real one.”

I’ve often asked myself what would happen if one of the perfumers responsible for many of those fresh and clean fragrances was given the chance to take that style and refocus it through a niche lens. With the new fragrance from Olfactive Studio, Flashback, I think I have my answer.
I’ve always been aware of the connection between science and art. When I smell a fragrance I rarely concentrate on the individual notes, instead searching for the structure, base, and foundation that inform its character. For me, being an American perfumer means respecting tradition while not being bound by it.
