Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola Review (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato) +  A Passport to Corsica draw

Parfum d'Empire Acqua di Scandola review

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of being invited by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato of Parfum d’Empire to his Parisian laboratory (located a stone’s throw away from the studio of Voyages Imaginaires’ (Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal’s).  It is always a real pleasure to visit Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, as he is one of the most empathetic people I have ever met and although we havent seen each other for awhile. his first words were “How are you doing? How’s life?” (Alexis Toublanc, who works with him, had already offered me a “welcome” cup of black tea). Despite the sometimes intimidating environment of a perfume laboratory, I was totally at ease. It was a great opportunity to be able to talk to him about his perfumes- especially the one I am reviewing today, Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola.

Marc Antoine Corticchiato loves raw materials; he is passionate about plants, flowers, chemistry. He has a signature style and his fragrances often pay homage to Corsica, his homeland. L’Héritage Corse collection is the perfect illustration of this… Eau de Gloire (a flamboyant aromatic), Corsica Furiosa (an ode to lentiscus, awarded perfume of the year 2014 by the Fragrance Foundation France), Salute! (a sparkling woody flavor with chocolate accents on my skin), Immortelle Corse (a solar and impetuous  floral) or recently Mal-Aimé (a tribute to the Corsican maquis built around the wild organic linula).

Peninsula of Scadola in Corsica

Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola was inspired by Scandola, a peninsula located in the west of Corsica, a protected natural reserve, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is abundant  flora ,fauna, and breathtaking landscapes, where sea, earth and rocks live in perfect harmony. These are the three elements that are at the heart of Acqua di Scandola which took Marc Antoine Corticchiato three years to compose. Iodized, mineral and aromatic, this fragrance is surprising while being obvious: it exudes the seaside! There is no sunscreen aromas or Calone, (a polarizing  synthetic molecule used to simulate marine notes).  What you smell within moments is the shade of pine trees, bordered by rocks  and yes, algae.

Parfum d'Empire Acqua di Scandola by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato

Marc-Antoine Corticchiato quote on Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola – edited by Emmanuelle Varron.

Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola opens very fresh and aromatic thanks to the de-terpenated juniper (purified to the maximum) giving it a  scent profile that is akin to a strong gust of wind blowing sea spray on your face: these iodized notes developed by the algae extract distilled “sur mesure.” There is no fishy aroma that would normally occur naturally in the algae. The iodine aspect is present, lively and almost raw.Compared to the “classic” algae extract the difference is obvious. There is luminosity and sophistication in this bespoke extract.

Algae extract for Parfum d'Empire Acqua di Scandola

Algae extracts – In the left bottle is the sur-mesure version for Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola, all cleaned of its “fishy” aroma – picture by Emmanuelle Varron.

It is around this algae extract that Parfum d´Empire Acqua di Scandola is built, interacting with the immortelle absolute that warms the skin with its spicy and fruity notes.  Next is oak moss, like the one you can find on the ocher color rocks of the Corsican coast, which accentuates the woody notes of immortelle. At this stage of Parfums d’Empire Acqua di Scandola‘s development, I now imagine wading in the Mediterranean Sea. The sun is slowly starting to set, but a soft floral light begins to glow.  Now the magnolia essence develops- fresh, solar and sensual – a backdrop for the  the saline aspect of the perfume.

Corsica sea coast

Acqua di Scandola transports me directly to Corsica. This island is considered “Heaven on Earth,” with unspoiled nature, its Mediterranean climate and postcard photolike landscapes. I have had the chance to go there on vacation several times – a 90-minute flight from Paris. After so many months of social distancing, and not traveling, Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola is like bottling a passport to  Prospero’s island.   A saline floral may seem like a risky artistic choice, but Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola is a wonder on the skin and offers a new perspective in an often “smell-alike” market of  generic aquatics.

Notes: deterpenated juniper, algae extract (sur mesure), magnolia essence, immortelle absolu DM, oakmoss, alga absolu.

Great review. I want to be near the ocean now! I’m not familiar with the brand, but this sounds amazing. From the USA.

  • Liked the good description of Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola by Emmanuelle in her review, especially the part about Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola not being like mainstream aquatic perfumes. This seems to be more refreshing and gentle perfume compared to the ozonic metallic notes we find in other aquatic perfumes. Haven’t tried this brand, yet, but on visiting their website (Parfum d’Empire), I liked this description in their History section, while describing the house and the perfume “Parfum d´Empire can be recognized by its overflowing of materials and, paradoxically, by this balance specific to the Great French Taste. Radical and personal style: that’s what touches. A position taken against the puritanism of puny and normative juices. It resonates, it licks, it invites, it penetrates … Breath of the gods, agitation of bodies. The empire of the senses.” I was looking for perfumes with oud, but didn’t find any (no Search button), so looked for “Eastern” category, and found Aziyade which seemed interesting because of musk, incense, aphrodisiac spices, and so on. Interesting house. Thanks for the review and draw. I am in the USA.

A marine scent without Calone or fishiness? I’m on board! With supporting notes of magnolia and immortelle, this sounds like it could come close to perfection. I am in the U.S. in North Carolina, and have never used nor sampled a Parfum d’Empire fragrance.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I loved the way that Emmanuelle described the way this fragrance smells and how it transports you Corsica. I haven’t tried much from this house, so I will say that Cuir Ottoman is my current favorite from the house. I live in Maryland USA.

  • This is great since I detest marine fragrances they all smell like chemicals.
I am familiar with Parfum d’Empire and recently bought Le Cri. I own Iskander as well.
How lovely you were able to meet with Marc Antoine Cortichiatto and actually smell the difference between the algae extracts.
    I live in Portland

  • Parfum D’ Empire is one of my favorite niche houses. Ambre Russe is one of my fav. amber perfumes and I must have at least 3 bottles of Cuir Ottoman. Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola is inspired by Corsica, Marc’s home as have been some others, mentioned in the article, such as Eau Gloire. I am intrigued how Marc has formulated a fragrance inspired by sea. My fav. from Parfum D’ Empire is Cuir Ottoman. I am in US.

  • Corsica is an island I have been to and adored! I had immortelle sorbet there, and a tiramisu on a remote beachside restaurant that made me tear up with its perfection. I would love to have a fragrance that captures some of the island’s natural beauty, and an aquatic fragrance that *doesn’t* smell of suntan lotion is so perfectly my style! Thank you for this review! In Canada.

  • What an amazing review by Emmanuelle! What gorgeous writing! This review transports me to Corsica (where I was lucky to visit a friend briefly in 2004). I have been searching for a fragrance like this – the sea, but without calone, no tourist beach. I would LOVE to try this! It sounds so beautiful. I am not familiar with Parfum d’Empire but I have an affinity for those who are drawn to work with raw materials. I love the way Corticchiato works with the terroir of place. Brilliant. Looking at the classic scents & Corsican collection, I’m drawn to the Salute! perfume. I worked as a sommelier for many years & have often considered how closely the world of wine & perfume can relate or converse. I’d be fascinated to experience a great perfumer’s reflection on wine & terroir. It would be hard to chose between Acqua di Scandola & Salute! There were so many others I’d love to try as well! So happy to discover these wonderful scents! Thank you! Rachel, USA

  • I always appreciate the introduction to the perfumer and the inspirations – set up the atmosphere real great! Especially since over here the pandemic pretty much freeze everything and travelling is yet another faraway dream.

Non-cliche marine accord, non-fishe algea, and saline foral, hmmmmmmm. What a relaxing time to spend imagining these that defies typical expectations!

I’m based in Thailand — sadly have yet to meet any of Parfum d’Empire, but I think I’ld love Mal-Aimé, Acqua di Scandola, and Salute!!

  • I truly am interested in trying this fragrance. I can like, very much, high-quality coastal notes in a fragrance and this one has that and in combination with oakmoss, which I love. After having looked at Parfum d’Empire’s website, I truly want to try Fougere Bengale; it seems like something that I would like. I haven’t tried anything from this fragrance house yet, but I plan to familiarize myself with some of their fragrances eventually. Also, after having read from this review, I hope to travel to Corsica, eventually. I live in MD., U.S.A.

  • Jmmcmenamin says:

I liked that this was an interview. These are not normally a combination of notes that I gravitate to, but I’m intrigued by this scent nonetheless. Located in Louisiana, USA.

  • Dubaiscents says:

This lovely review really takes me to Corsica! I am often reluctant to try the aquatics in a line but, if anyone can make them interesting it would be Mr. Corticchiato! I love Parfum d’Empire with my favorites being Musc Tonkin and Cuir Ottoman. Thank you for the draw. US

  • NituNicolae says:

My favourite Parfum D’Empire would be MUSC TONKIN. Acqua di Scandola sounds so refreshing with the fruit notes and oakmoss. Great review! I live in Romania.

  • aurora_ru says:

I am familiar with classical Parfum d’Empire fragrances, Ambre Russe and Aziyade being my most loved, but haven’t sampled yet the latest creations. This one sounds interesting to me because of the “pine trees, bordered by rocks and yes, algae.” It was interesting to read the technical description of different algae extraits. I actually quite like the smell of natural algae and terpenic juniper, but yeah, that is in nature, but in context of art of perfumery, i understand that it might take a lot of effort to make something pleasant to wear on skin.
Living in the EU I would love to take part in the draw, thank you!

  • “There is no sunscreen aromas or Calone”

This sounds like the kind of aquatic I have been searching for. The dedication in extracting unique raw materials is staggering. I really want to try this one. Thanks for the draw! From Canada.

Notes: deterpenated juniper, algae extract (sur mesure), magnolia essence, immortelle absolu DM, oakmoss, alga absolu. I am not the biggest fan of aquatics but this seems different so I am intrigued to see how it smells like on skin a beautiful piece by Emmanuel has got me curious about this house. A house that I am not familiar with but I am intrigued by nonetheless. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • I really liked the description of Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola by Emmanuelle: it is so easy to feel yourself in Corsica with her words! I could understand her feeling when smelling the scent: a passport to Scandola peninsula. If I fall in love with Mal-Aimé and the inula and neetle notes, I am infatuated with Acqua di Scandola: to feel the seaside in my face and in my nostrils without boring Calone and fishy algae. A clever juniper with iodine algae extract , oakmoss and immortelle (a lovely plant that we called “siempreviva” in Spain) and “Heaven on Earth” is available to us thanks to Marc-Antoine Corticchiato. My favorite of his perfumes is Mal-Aimé. I live in Spain, EU.

  • I felt like being throwback during my holidays in Corse. The vegetation, see breeze, calanques and the scalding sun, all of it was in this review. My two favourites from Parfums d’Empire are Cuir Ottoman and Immortelle Corse. From EU

  • Fragrance Capital says:

I adore the sea-based scents. Thanks, Emmanuelle for your blue description, it transported me to Corsica (it is A Passport to Corsica) and gave me how the Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola smells. I liked your intro, the story with Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, and the pictures. I didn’t try any perfume from this house, so I’d love to start with this wonderful one. I live in Sarajevo, BH.

  • This is the season for a aquatic beauty,i do not know the brand yet , but Aqua di Scandola is interesting! Thanks for the draw and review, from EU!

  • Nom de Guerre says:

Count me in, this sounds refreshing – thank you Marc-Antoine!
I’ve only tried Musc Tonkin and it was absolutely amazing. Would love to try the whole range someday. Greetings from Riga, Latvia.

  • I can almost smell the Corsican coast from the review it is so evocative. I haven’t tried any Parfum d’Empire fragrances so don’t (yet!) have a favorite. In NC, USA.

  • I have never tried anything by Parfum d’Empire before but would love to try this one. I love how the review literally takes you on a mental vacation to Corsica, which is a bucket list location for me to visit. I live in the USA.

  • DespinaVnt says:

I’m a great fan of Parfum d’Empire, and of Monsieur Corticchiato’s work. Emmanuelle painted a spectacular olfactory summer paysage with her words, and I especially appreciated all the interesting information on the materials used in this fragrance (which has eluded me so far).
I’d love to win it, thank you.
My favorite Parfum d’Empire is probably (choosing just one is hard!) Le Cri De La Lumière.
My first-release bottle was recently stolen from our family home in Greece, so I’ll have to substitute it soon.
    Best from France (EU).

  • A much needed vacation to Corsica – my wish to all. The thought of sniffing the fresh aromatic sea settles my soul immediately. After visiting Parfums d’Empire’s site, I gravitated to Ambre Russe (Russian tea, incense), Mal-Aimé (thistles, nettles, brambles, roots), and meditative Wazamba. I truly need to explore Mr Corticchiato’s creativity. Thanks for the opportunity! Mich USA

  • Sounds great and thankfully not fishy.
I would love to wear it. Thanks for the opportunity. From Mexico!

  • Julesinrose says:

This is excitingly original! I would love to try all the fragrances you wrote about but this one with the algae accord sounds particularly fascinating. I live one street away from a bay in the Atlantic Ocean.and know that the water can smell both wonderful and not so, so this is intriguing! How could I not want to smell something that is “like bottling a passport to Prospero’s island?” I’m in Maine, USA

  • I love when we get an inside look of HOW the fragrances are made. This was fascinating to read. I already love immortelle and I am incredibly curious on the novel algae extract. I would say Cuir Ottoman and Ambre Russe are my favorites from Parfum d’Empire, thus far.

Another Parfum d’Empire I would love to try is Immortelle Corse, as it also features immortelle, which both Corticchiato and I are so fond of.

Thank you for the generosity. I live in Denmark, EU.

  • Acqua di Scandola is not your typical mainstream marine fragrance, but rather realistic representation of Corsican coast, like Emmanuelle Varron said fresh, solar and sensual.
Parfum d’Empire i do not know , I went to the company website , and WAZAMBA is the one I’d like to try the most
    Thank you for the opportunity
    USA

  • Emmanuelle’s description transported me to the Mediterranean seaside immediately. I could almost smell the salty, vegetal seawater and feel the breeze on my skin.
This perfume sounds like seaside in a bottle: juniper, pines, rocks and algae.
I love those wild, untamed corners of seaside paradise who haven’t yet been tainted by human presence too much and still manage to keep that raw and real scent.
    Never tried Parfum d’Empire.
    EU.
    Thanks!

  • Ok Emmanuelle. Now I not only want to try this fragrance and go to Corsica, I want to meet the man and visit his lab. Thank you so much for a really nice review. Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola may just be the aquatic I’ve been searching for. I am in the US.

  • Wow, I have a decant of Corsica Furiosa and of Musk Tonkin, but this review made me yearn to be in Corsica. This would surely be a great holiday scent, when we travel to Italy this year. I would be very happy to test this! I am from Germany…

  • Oops. I forgot to tell you which other Parfum d’Empire fragrances I’d like to try. Well first, all of them, of course. Azemour is calling out to me. As is Unloved! The scent of weeds, I love it. Sorry for the two posts. I am in the US still. 🙂

  • How lucky to have been invited into the birthplace of so many beautiful perfumes! Parfum d’Empire is a house I respect a great deal. All the scents seem to come from a very personal place, so I am not surprised at the warmth and hospitality shown to Emmanuelle.
I remember reading how Marc-Antoine Corticchiato created the chocolatey-iris scent Equistrius to honor his beloved horse! He didn’t care if the name would scare people off, it had to be called Equistrius. My personal favorite from the line is Ambre Russe, which is the scent equivalent of eating a sumptuous, 2,000 calorie meal and somehow feeling light as a feather afterwards.
I appreciate perfumes inspired by places and memories, so I would love to experience Acqua di Scandola. It sounds fresh and invigorating. I have to say that the new release Mal-Aime, inspired by weeds, has also peaked my interest. Thank you for spotlighting this house! I live in the U.S.A.

  • After reading the review I feel now like I’d like to win this draw. I have heard of the brand though not tried any. US

  • Claumarchini says:

Thank you Emmanuelle for this review! I am really intrigued by this fragrance, as I am usually not into marine scents especially for the ozonic notes, so I think I would like Acqua di Scandola very much. I had read the review of Mal-Aimé some time ago and I would very much like to try Corticchiato’s work, it sounds amazing. Exploring the website and the fragrances I would definitely go for Aziyade as I love spices, Corsica Furiosa for the lentiscus that I adore and Salute. Greetings from Italy

  • I love aquatic perfumes, but if thay are not boring usual as many. But with iodized notes and oakmoss sound very interesting.
I live love Parfum d’Empire, for example Tabac Tabou.
    US

  • I’m very interested in a marine accord that is not fishy. Most have a side to them that I do not care, for. I would love to try this. In maryland.

  • I love Emmanuelle’s description of the process the algal note went through before ending up in this composition. God, I love Parfums d’Empire. I MUST get a full bottle of La Cri de la Lumiere, one of my favourite perfumes full stop. I live in Canada. Thanks!

  • GennyLeigh says:

I’ve not been to Corsica yet, but it is on my list of places to go. There’s something magical about the Mediterranean coastlines and I love a well done aquatic fragrance. The algae extract is an interesting addition. I don’t think I’ve run across algae in a fragrance before. I appreciate that the fishiness is removed. I do not have a favorite Parfum d’Empire. I’m in MD, USA.

  • This sounds fantastic! I love the style of this house and the depiction of this perfume being a sea spray to the face is so enticing! I am waiting for a chance to finally travel to Italy and this is what I can imagine that seaside would smell like. I have a feeling this could be a favorite from the line but as of right now, I think I’m partial to Ambre Russe from the house. The entire line is full of very unique creations though and I’d love to try this one and Corsica Furiousa!

  • Aquafortis says:

I love Emmanuelle’s evocations of the Corsican land and seascapes – olfactory imagery so vividly drawing on the real and the imagined beauty. I live in the SF Bay Area, California – a place with stunning beauty, and yet wanderlust has long drawn my spirit to Corsica. Alas, I have yet to visit. In the meantime, reviews such as Emmanuelle’s, and fragrances from Marc Antione Corticchiato will have to serve as transportive vehicles for vicarious exploration. From Parfums D’Empire, I already own and love “Le Cri de La Lumiere”, and “Cuir Ottoman”.

  • I always love Mediterranean inspired fragrances, especially when they forgo the ozonic, marine accord. I wonder how the coeur’d algue smells!
    I’m in EU

  • lilacdays says:

I’ve never tried anything from the brand but have heard only good things. This seems to be really fun as I’m not really keen on aquatic notes. Unfortunately I’ haven’t visited Corsica yet I’ve visited its neighbour Sardinia and the smell of immortelle and other herbs and the sea was absolutely intoxicating.
Many thanks for this draw. I live in France.

  • This review was a great read, I always love to read someone’s opinion on Parfum D’empire perfumes, because they’re so special and complex. My favorite is Musc Tonkin, a gorgeous perfume. I live in Croatia, EU.

  • I have tested some perfumes if Antoine Corticchiato and fall in love – very interesting and beautiful ! For example Eau de Gloire -amazibd rose chypre.
This perfumes is interesting – see, salt and wild nature of Corsica!!
    USA

  • I do not have a favorite from Perfume Empire as I have not been lucky enough to find and smell this anywhere near me unfortunately. Reading the review made me feel a longing for a real vacation by the sea, it has been nearly 10 years since I have had that kind of experience. Thank you for the review and the draw, and hello from Canada!

  • redwheelbarrow says:

I am all here for this one. I love the smell of the sea, every part of it. I’m so curious about that algae note! I’m not familiar with this house but I am super curios about Corsica Furiosa and that tomato leaf note now. I may need a sample set because some of these fragrances seem very interesting. Thanks for the review. I’m in the US.

  • wandering_nose says:

Emmanuelle’s review was such a pleasure to read, I am very grateful! It’s such a treat to be able to find out about beautiful places on the map that are abundant with flowers and herbs mirroring the scents of the area. I have been been paying more attention to natural smelling marine types of perfumes for the past year or so, and hearing that Acqua di Scandola is”‘Iodized, mineral and aromatic” literally made my heart melt. I also love algae and seaweed. I have not been familiar with Parfum d’Empire fragrances but would love to try this unique creation. Based in Ireland, EU.

  • IvanVelikov says:

Acqua di Scandola Iodized, mineral and aromatic characteristics are appealing to me. It was nice to read there’s no sunscreen lotion elements. I wish I had the time for vacation on a yacht, somewhere in Italy.
I do own Ambre Russe, after small research on Parfum d’Empire site, AZIYADÉ i like to try the most. A fruity, spice-laden oriental ? I’m sold
    Thanks
    USA, rarely Paris France

  • I’ve always wanted to visit Corsica and the idea of the smell of the Corsican coast in a bottle sounds very appealing! My favorite Parfum d’Empire is probably Cuir Ottoman (though I haven’t smelled many of their fragrances). I live in Oklahoma, USA. Thanks, as always, for the draw!

  • I would like to visit nice perfume laboratory one day . Parfum d’Empire fragrances I have no experience with. Acqua di Scandola lack of calone is surprising, but welcome. Elegant and sunny marine fragrance, nice.
Osmanthus Interdite I’d like to try , because of peach , suede and green tea accords.
    Thank you
Back and forth between USA and Scotland, two weeks in US -> two weeks in Scotland. Basically both USA and UK at the same time

  • wagnerflo says:

That is a greate review with nice details, Emmanuelle. Usually I’m not very fond of aquatic perfumes, but “algae extract” made me listen up. The An Dulaman gin includes that, too and I’m a big fan of its taste and smell. So maybe?!

From Parfum d’Empire I’ve only smelled Immortelle Corse which I found to be very interesting but also a tad too complex for my tastes. So I can’t say to really have a favorite from that house.

I’m from Germany and hoping to still be in time for the draw!

  • macaroni023 says:

Thank you for introducing us to Marc Antoine Corticchiato I wasn’t familiar with his work and unfortunately haven’t tried any of Parfum d’Empire. This parfume sound like great aquatic, crispy and fresh experience I’m really interested to try it, hopelly I can find it in my city somewhere! Thank you for generousity, I’m from EU

  • petergigov says:

Parfum d’Empire is a brand I have no experience with. Acqua di Scandola intrigued me with the homage Marc-Antoine Corticchiato is paying to his homeland Corsica , the lack of calon , and the welcoming feeling coming from the fragrance.
OSMANTHUS INTERDITE eau de parfum I also like to try. Parfum d’Empire description is so nice “surprising apricot and suede notes… their fruity, velvety facets … refreshing tea accord”
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Aglae! wow! Very interesting fragrance. How unique and wonderful! I enjoyed the information about the extract in this review. I have not tried Parfum d’Empire before. Thank you from Canada!

  • I’d love to experience this hearkening to Mediterranean islands. I also really like the idea of a non-generic aquatic. I haven’t tried anything from Parfum d’Empire. Another scent I’d like to try is Tabac Tabou. (USA)

  • Ahhh, now this sounds so good as I’m happy they pointed out that it doesn’t use calone, which I’m not terribly fond of. I’m very interested in that authentic marie smell, salty and algae and full of sealife! And combining it with a floral finish, this sounds like a very different aquatic indeed! I live in the USA. I haven’t tried anything from this house before, so I don’t have a favorite, but after perusing the website, OSMANTHUS INTERDITE really caught my eye as I’ve been searching for a great osmanthus fragrance for quite some time. Thanks so much for the giveaway.

  • Acqua di Scandola feels like the one carefree , and bright marine fragrance I need to have in my collection.
Parfums d’Empire name i have heard, but I never had a chance to try their fragrances. I’ll look for sample set.
After some browsing I think SALUTE ! i would like to try the most
“Then a vine leaf accord unfolds to reveal the rose and eau de vie facets of a wine-dreg extract – probably the highest dose of the precious material ever used in a fragrance.”
SALUTE ! is really different and creative , please review it
    Thanks for the draw

Thank you for the great review Emmanuelle.

I really appreciate the sill of the perfumer in trying to create a fragrance that moves away from the power house AC’s of the 80’s aquatics.

I’m also fascinated by the algae note in this and the effort that has gone into picking and creating a clean algae note, which still expresses all the iodine facets.

Emmanuelle’s review reminds me of walking on a beach on cool but sunny day, with gusts of cool wind permeated by the warmth of the sun, them smell of salt, algae and marine life everywhere.

I haven;t smelt much from this house, but I would love to try this.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Emmanuelle Varron take on Acqua di Scandola reminded me of my current vacation, having fun, diving , swimming on long distances and walking along side the coast. I’m enjoying it quite a bit, just like I’ll enjoy Acqua di Scandola.
Since I have no experience with Parfum d’Empire, by the notes lited alone I presume I’ll enjoy AZIYADE the most. Plums, cardamom, almonds, vanilla = must try fragrance.
Appreciate Emmanuelle Varron review, and the giveaway campaign.
On my long vacation in Spain

It’s not just me, but most people know Parfum d’Empire for Ambre Russe, for a good reason I believe. The best representation of the famous “Russian Leather” theme , i truly mean it. By the end of 2019 i finished my bottle, and for some time I was not able to find it in stock anywhere in US. Even Luckyscent told me back then, they are not sure what is going on with the house. Feared it’s discontinued, I bought 2 back bottles from online store in Italy. Later I found out it was just repackaging.
I know not all , but most Parfum d’Empire fragrances, and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1. Ambre Russe
    2. Aziyade
    3. Wazamba/Tabac Tabou
Acqua di Scandola i don’t know, Scandola peninsula too , and I’m curious how olfactory image of the region smells.
From Parfum d’Empire fragrances I don’t know, Immortelle Corse would love to explore, I was not aware such fragrance even existed.
Thanks to Emmanuelle, Michelyn and Mark-Antoine Corticchiato

  • I’m in the US and my favorite Parfum d’Empire would be Equistrius because it is the one I own. I normally shy away from aquatics but this one sounds so different–no Calone?!? Sounds wonderful! I would also like to try Corsica Furiosa because it gets so much love in reviews. However, I think I need to do more exploration of this brand.

Emmanuelle great review of Parfum d’Empire Acqua di Scandola. I loved learning about this perfume house and the tribute the in house perfumer made to his homeland of Corsica when creating this fragrance. A beautiful fresh floral fragrance with all natural ingredients, a salty marine algae note that is specially purified to void the fishy smell. This sounds amazing and Emmanuelle did a brillant job describing it. I haven’t tried anything from Parfum d’Empire, so I don’t have a favorite. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • I am a fan of Parfum d Empire for a long time and bought Equistrius a while back the best Iris in my opinion I smelled.
Emmanuelle wrote such a great review of a non calone aquatic with a special algae extract
    I live in USA
