Given the size of the show, a most hospitable atmosphere prevailed.

Best perfumes at NY NOW Summer 2019

The following is my Best of Show.

From a trend standpoint, at summer 2019 NY NOW, CBD is no longer a novelty and is fairly integrated into most sectors along with natural, vegan and organic product lines. If there was one trend it was clean beauty, neo-aquatics and simplicity. Held twice a year, many brands present at both shows, others opt for once a year.

  • Harlem Candle Company’s booth is so classy! What a unique business model. I’d love to give their candles a sniff.
Of course Nest is always something I’m excited to hear about, as Midnight Fleur was my first “real” fragrance I wore as a teenager. Pumpkin Chai candles for wintertime? YES!
Hernando, it seems you must have smelled a lot of wonderful things at NY NOW 2019. I hope you had a great time, as I would imagine many of us reading this blog are envious of your access to trying out many of the finest new and upcoming fragrances. I know that I certainly am!

  • I’m only familiar with a few of these brands, so thanks for the introduction to the rest. Harlem Candle Company and Nest candles are now on my wishlist! This draw is a fantastic way to try so many lovely things. Thank you! USA

  • Thank you, Hernando and Cafleurebon, for this informative summary! It’s so inspiring to see so many new faces in the niche market, and the most recent offerings of established lines.

  • Great to see “organics” extended to this industry as in Scentual Aroma’s products. Floris’ floral woody Neroli Voyage is now on my radar as well. USA.

  • Wow! So much diversity in the article. People from all over the world and all over the states! I would love to win a sample set. This article took a lot of time and extreme effort. Thank you, I enjoyed reading it. Wish I was there. USA.

  • Great Report
It was like being there. I would like to have smelled the olfactive studio shots and the Harlem candle company and Nest since I love candles.

  • Frassasi and berdouse are the two brands that stood out. Frassisi’s creations look so polished , and well thoughts out. Berdouse looks carefree and classic. Both of these ideas really appeal to me and this was fun reading. What I enjoy the most is that this is avenue for frsgrance lovers and the world to find, love and appreciate great creators and artists !

This sounds like such a fun event. There are a lot of lines mentioned that I have no heard of. Thanks for this review and the draw.

  • So many wonderful brands at BY NOW, an event that seems worth attending! I was especially thrilled to see the Frassai brand since I recently tested Blondine and fell in love with it. Thank you for the opportunity. I live in the USA.

  • Thanks, Hernando, for sharing with us your great finds in NY NOW Summer 2019. So nice to see a lot of new companies and such diversity in the ones your featured. I love The Lifestyle Co, Harlem Candle and Hyascent- their offerings sound really good. I’d love to win so I can try their samples. Thanks for the draw. – CA, USA

  • Really appreciate the amount of women-owned highlights here and the thorough report across categories! It’s hard to process otherwise. I’m Chilean and was very excited to hear about Frassai alongside the geniuses behind Arquiste, I love seeing more Latin American projects.

  • I’m overwhelmed by the sheer number of companies presenting and the variety of their products. Nest has me so interested with their orange and clove scent. Wonderful for the up and coming holidays. Thanks for the review and draw. I’m in the USA

  • Simply Smita caught my attention because I wondered if it’s pronounced smeeta or smyta. The review is comprehensive and makes me wish I was in NYC in a white dress at a fraggie trade show. I live in USA.

  • I’m most interested in Inis, the Energy of the Sea and Scentual Aroma. It’s great to see so many new and interesting products. Thanks for the report! In the USA.

  • Hernando gets the best jobs!!! What fun he had. Honestly I am so done with adding CBD into everything. It’s just the latest “darling” of the heath/wellness marketing. Maybe if it’s around in 10 years I’ll give it a go. I was most interested in the Sepia collection because of Bertrand being involved. Taja caught my eye with their philosophy of the best gift seeing someone else happy. I do love Miami and all things from there. I shall check their website. I’m curious about the Tuberosa by Carthusia, I recently ordered samples from Luckyscent, but they didn’t have the Tuberose yet. Thanks Hernando for doing the “hard” work to bring these amazing brands to us. USA.

  • It’s exciting to see so many lines with a focus on clean ingredients, hand-crafted items. The hand-crafted aspect reminds me of old-school luxury and couture items. Thanks for the draw!

  • Thanks Hernando for sharing with us. So many fragrances and brands. This seemed like an amazing event. Would love to attend one day, not familiar with most of these. All mentioned sound interesting. Thanks, US

  • I liked that there was such a variety. I also liked that products more and more are taking advantage of using CBD. Carthusia certainly stuck out to me as something to look forward to. And the same for St. John’s Fragrance Company. From the U.S. Thanks

  • Thank you so much for highlighting us (The Harlem Candle Co.)! We are so grateful and we love Ca Fleure Bon!! We would love to meet you in person.

Always fun to read about what’s new out there. I am particularly interested in learning more about the St. Johns and KIEREN NYC brands and will be researching them now. I live in the US and thanks for this chance.

  • I like the spectrum of products at the event. CBD for Life sounds like a very interesting brand that could be poised to do very well. I’d love to win the gift bag. I’m in the USA.

  • Seemed like a great show! It’s fun learning about companies and products that I’m not familiar with (although some I’ve heard of and used – such as Nest). The BKLYN CBD products look very interesting as well as SOH Melbourne – I’m always trying new candles. I’d love to sample any of the wonderful goodies! Thank you – I’m in US and appreciate the opportunity.

  • I thought it was cool to see many indie houses focusing on using natural ingredients. Kind of a counterpoint to the growing prevalence of basing fragrances on new synthetics. Both have their places though.
Kelly + Jones caught my eye because of Eau de Mezcal. It’s a great spirit and it’s surprising that it isn’t really used as a perfume note all too often.

  • Oh my gosh. I wish I could be there. Your descriptions of the companies are so generous and genuine. I want to smell them all!

  • I am really interested in trying products from Eman Tabbara CEO & Founder of Scentual Aroma . I love that she is Staten Island based. I used to live in Staten Island until just a year or so ago. I still go back there from time to time. Plan to make a trip there at the end of the month, so I’m going to check out her line.
    I live in the US.

  • Wow, so many great brands here! I’ve tried Kelly and Jones and they were great. And Harlem Candles recently started popping up on my FB page, and I was curious enough to investigate. I’m also very curious about Frassai. Thanks for the info on all these great brands. I’m in the USA

  • What a great event for some of the best brands out today. What caught my eye or nose was the LA based THE LIFESTYLE CO with its vegan based modern scents and CBD for life for health and beauty products. Thanks for the draw. I live in CA, USA.

  • I always enjoy reading these best in show roundups. It’s wonderful that established houses like Floris are present, along side newer houses. I am especially interested in Scentual Aroma and the Harlem Candle Company.
    I live in the USA.
