Hermetica VerticalOud, PatchouliLight and RoseFire Reviews + 3 You should be Wearing Draw

Hermetica fragrance reviews

via Hermetica

Hermetica is a collection of molecular fragrances inspired by the ancient practice of alchemy, which sought to transform basic metals into precious materials and to find the ultimate elixir of life.” ~ HERMETICA website

John and Clara Molloy, the founders of Memo Paris and Floraiku, in collaboration with Symrise (the global producer of fragrance and flavor company) introduced Hermetica  eaux de parfums which are vegan, clean, green, alcohol-free, refillable, long-lasting and cruelty free. Each combines both synthetic molecules and natural ingredients. These water-based scents go on lightly, wear tenaciously, and provide a fragrance that not only smells terrific, but moisturizes the skin as well.  They can be worn alone or can be layered, and the they do not follow a traditional fragrance pyramid of top, middle and base notes.  Recently I had the opportunity to test them at  the ScentExplore Event (our friend and reader Gerald Martin Moore really loved Hermetica VerticalOud).

Here on CaFleureBon we have a series… The Three You Should Be Wearing where our editors and contributors recommend three perfumes from a brand that we believe you should try, especially if you are new to niche fragrances or the particular collection. I asked Editor Sebastian Jara to choose three Hermetica Fragrances he admired and in this in depth video about the brand he shares his choices:

Hermetica VerticalOud: Resinous, woody with hints of rose but the oud is prominent on my skin.

Hermetica PatchouliLight: This is Sebastian’s favorite. There are notes of  sandalwood and iris and of course patchouli

Hermetica Rosefire is sure to please rose fragrance lovers…  there’s a candied feeling to the scent that is reminiscent of Turkish Delight. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • I’m drawn to PatchouliLight, because it sounds spicy and unisex. Thanks for another fabulous draw! Mich USA

  • Sebastiana review was great as always. I think Hermetica sound really great. The moisturizing effect is really awesome and intriguing and the fact that they seem environmentally conscious and have refillable bottles is also great. I had actually looked at this brand before and am interested in VANINIGHT and AMBERBEE. Of these three listed should I win I would choose PATCHOULIGHT. I’m in the U.S. Thanks for the generous draw!

  • Sebastian another great review, first time hearing about this house. Vertical Oud sounds amazing, is there anywhere I can sample this house in or near San Antonio, TX? What I really love about this house there refillable, vegan, and you have a moisturizer all in one.

  • Sweet quick review and too the point. Vertical Oud sounds really to because the one only oud i have is very strong and i need to watch how i wear it. I am really digging the whole moisturizing aspect of this perfume.

  • I just love the bottles. They are beautiful. Myself having dry skin, would love the
added moisturizing benefits. I would love to try them all. If I had to choose one, or would be the PatchouliLight. USA

  • They all look so fantastic, hard to make up my mind. I want to try all 3. If I have to pick one though it’s going to be VerticalOud. Another great review and great draw!

  • Great concept! Alcohol-free moisturizing fragrances? Would love to try PatchouliLight for its patchouli and rose notes Sebastian mentioned. VA, USA.

Sebastian’s video was great, as usual! I’ve heard about this house, but never had the chance to try them. Love how Sebastian puts lesser known houses in the spotlight. Patchoulilight sounds the most interesting to me since I love rose and patchouli! Alabama, USA

  • Wilson Siavichay says:

Last month I got a sample of vertical oud in Bloomingdales and I like it a lot, specially the woody note that I love it in this season, I wish to win this bottle

  • I’m with Sebastian. PatchouliLight sounds delightful. What more could you want then a blend of sandalwood, iris and patchouli? I’m in the US. Thanks for the draw!

  • What an informative video by Sebastian! I had no idea that the founders of Memo Paris are involved in this fragrance line, which is definitely a positive in my book. I have very sensitive skin and thus these fragrances seem perfect given their alcohol-free and moisturizing qualities, while being also long-lasting and cruelty-free. Would love to win Hermetica PatchouliLight since that is Sebastian’s favorite. Thanks for the draw. Regards from Boston USA.

  • Kirsten Castagnola says:

Oh, these all sound lovely! Rose fire would be my favorite choice! I am in florida USA thanks for the opportunity

  • Awesome review by Sebastian! I love that this is alcohol free, has longevity, cruelty free, and are skin scents. I had no idea that Hermetica is connected to Memo Paris. I am drawn to Patchouli Light! Thanks for the giveaway and I live in the US!

  • Based on Sebastian’s review, I think these are going to be good to have, especially since they can be blended. Also, the moisturizing aspect is a bonus. As a Rose lover, I want to definitely get my hands on Rosefire.

  • Based on Sebastian’s review, I think these are going to be good to have, especially since they can be blended. Also, the moisturizing aspect is a bonus. As a Rose lover, I want to definitely get my hands on Rosefire.

  • I didn’t know that Hermeticas were manuscripts. That history is interesting. I’ve read a little about alchemy. This is so interesting how they have no alcohol but still project. I love oud. Love rose. Love iris. Love patch. Tough choice. I would have to go with Rosefire. I’m in USA. Love the bottles.

  • I love Memo Paris and this brand sounds great too! I really like the innovative nature of these fragrances…Moisturizing, vegan, refillable, no alcohol. The three scents that Sebastian reviewed all sound great but if I had to choose one I think I’d go with Vertical Oud. FL, USA.

  • I thought the review was amazing, I had never heard of those houses before but after it I was looking them up and excited for something new to try. The patchouli light sounds wonderful and win or not I feel it will be in my collection ASAP!!!

  • Sebastian knows how to sell any cologne that is worth it, I hadn’t heard of this house before but after that video I was looking it up and the patchouli light sounds amazing so if I win this or not it will be in my collection ASAP!!!! So excited

  • Sheila Ashley says:

Patchouli light and Rosefire sound so good! I have recently discovered your channel and have been enjoying your content! Thank you!

  • I always love to listen to Sebastian’s reviews. Based on this one, I would probably go with PatchouliLlight. I love the thought of sandalwood, iris, and patchouli. Thanks for a great review and a generous draw. I’m in the USA

  • I’d never heard of this line before. All three fragrances sound incredible. I love the concept where the top and bottom notes are the same. And so unique that they are alcohol free (and moisturizing!). I also like that the bottles are refillable and the ingredients are cruelty free. Just an overall great concept!
    I would choose Patchoulilight.
    I live in Pennsylvania (USA)

  • This was a very informative review, I have heard good things about Hermetica before, but not as indepth as Sebastion’s review. I have never heard of a fragrance that is moisturizing and is also refillable and cruelty free. I would love to try a fragrance that is good quality makes be smell amazing while also moisturizing my skin. RoseFire would be my choice if I won, a scent that smells like Roses with sugared petals and lemon, sign me up! I live in USA.

  • Jon Rousseau says:

Love the review. These are very intriguing fragrances that I knew nothing about before his video. Sebastian does an exceptional job and informing us about brands like this and fragrances as a whole. He is very unbiased and honest. To be frank he’s become my favorite YouTube with anything concerning fragrances.

  • A great review as always. I’ve tried Spiceair and Multilotus while sampling in a local perfume shop, and was very impressed with the moisturizing long-lasting quality of them. It does help if you’re a dry skinned person that tends to spray on the wrist/whole back o the hand when applying. I’d love to win rosefire, as I love most rose fragrances I encounter!

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

Thanks for the video review, Sebastian! Never heard before of this Hermetica perfume house. As Patchouli is one of my favorite note Hermetica PatchouliLight is appealing to me. Count me in by letting my relative address in NY, US.

  • Shannon Ikerd says:

I love that these are not alcohol based and that they are moisturizing. In the dryness of winter, I think these would be very, very enjoyable.

  • This is good innovation to have perfumes that moisturize, too because not everyone is a fan of moisturizing creams that feel sticky at times. I am In US

  • Alcohol free, check. Moisturizing, check. Long-lasting, check. For the draw I’d choose the VerticalOud. US

  • Interesting idea for a perfumerie going alcohol free. They all sound interesting but if I could choose I’d go for the vertical oud.

  • “fragrances that are “green, clean, and alcohol-free”
Ok you got my attention . I don’t remember smelling water based fragrances, especially with moisturising effects.
Candied feeling to the scent that is reminiscent of Turkish Delight ? My pick for sure.
Good longevity is always appreciated . I’ll have to check this brand.
    Thank you all.

  • I’ve seen previous reviews of Hermetica fragrances and I was intrigue ,but after watching Sebastian’s video and how he describe each fragrance they all sounded interesting. I really enjoy the lotion aspect that these fragrance contain, and being alcohol free is a big plus for me. I would love VerticalOud the scent and ingredients in this fragrance fit my personality.

  • I love how Sebastian reviews unique and interesting fragrances, I’m really curious to try an alcohol free moisturizing scent that I don’t have to wait for the drydown to experience the final result of the fragrance! Id love to win RoseFire.
    Hi from California.
    Thanks for the generous giveaway.

  • Good review as always from Sebastian. Vertical Oud sounds like the one I would like most. Glad to see Memo founders branching out into new territory. Interesting that they are moisturizing fragrances that could be good for my dry skin. Thanks for the giveaway. In the USA>

  • Great video !
I really appreciate that this brand is vegan and cruelty free
I would like verticaloud from Hermetica
    Thanks

  • I love the moisturizing quality affiliated with these fragrances and the fact that they are alcohol free. This was a great video that depicted where the future of the perfume industry is headed. I would be interested in RoseFire. (USA)

  • I have been super interested about Hermetica since the first time I heard about them earlier this year. I would LOVE to get my nose on VerticalOud! Sebastian always does an incredible job of explaining the fragrances!

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Like the sleek, minimalist presentation of the bottles. Appreciate Hermetica’s responsible and sustainable production process. I’d like to grab VerticalOud if I were to win the giveaway, thank you.

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always great. And they all sound very interesting. The one I’d most like to try is RoseFire. USA

  • As a rose lover, I am picking Rosefire. I have been reading about the Hermetica line and would definitely appreciate trying these different creations. I am in the USA.

  • I love Sebastian’s channel that I accidentally found and I am so glad I did. I trust his nose and want to try every fragrance he promotes. I loves his passion. I am interested in winning PatchouliLight.

  • I was not aware such products even existed . Fragrance and moisturizer Combined ?!? I learned something new.
The sweeter,  the better. Rosefire is the one calling me.
    I’m excited.
    Regards

  • I like the fact that these are moisturizing and alcohol free. I’m going with Sebastian’s pick, PatchouilLight, because I love sandalwood and iris. I live in the USA.

  • Happy, calm and joyful fragrance.Sebastian “very candied rose “ statement got my attention.
    Rosefire please .
Thank you Europerfums , Sebastian and Cafleurebon.

  • I got my nose on 3 of this line. I was impressed!!! I liked the Vertical Oud and I usually don’t care for oud. My favorite that I tried was Sandalsun and Vaninight. I still have some left in the vial, I shall re-visit it tonite. I didn’t realize it was moisturizing, I’ll have to check out more on their website. I’d love to win PatchouliLight. Thanks Sebastian, Cafleurebon & Europerfumes!! USA

  • It’s such a unique take on frangrances with its moisturizing quality, but it makes sense with how oils are used in different aspects of skin and hair care that making it a fragrance seems a obvious step. Sebastian’s descriptions were awesome as usual. I’d like a chance for the Verticaloud. Sebastian sold me on it and my hands are so dry, it needs some oud oil goodness!

  • I enjoyed Sebastian passion for reviewing, he know how to break the scent piece by piece. And in doing so he gives the viewer an accurate picture of the scent.
The most appealing to me is Hermetica PatchouliLight.

  • I love the idea of these being alcohol-free and moisturizing to boot! My esthetician says a lot of my skin irritation is a result of using alcohol-based and synthetic fragrances…though this hasn’t stopped me yet, haha. It would be nice to use something soothing for a change, especially during this dry Midwest US winter.
If I were to win, I would choose RoseFire.
    USA

  • Good Morning!
I just watched Sebastian’s great review. I would love to sample any one of these fragrances and love the fact that they are water-based and provide moisture. If I had to pick one it would be Patchoulilight…I have tried a few scents from Memo Paris and I enjoy Tiger’s Nest as well as Lalibela. I am tempted to take a drive to Bloomingdale’s in the Chestnut Hill Mall. As a Rhode Islander, I
am extremely limited when it comes to sampling new fragrances.
Providence Perfume is my only oasis. Thanking you for the dream opportunity to win a bottle of Hermetica!

  • It was very interesting how the fragrances are made and is used and able to rub in the skin.

I am interested in verticaloud, Sebastian always gives passionate reviews.

  • Of course i know Memo Paris , but not the younger brother. My husband owns French Leather , and now i’m using it from time to time,so you could say i own it hah.
Hermetica Rosefire is right up my alley type of fragrance – cuddling one with the right amount of sweetness.
Thank you all for the draw.
    Cheers from VA

  • I do own the full Hermetica sample set , and Rosefire is completely unisex to me , I don’t think it leans feminine. There’s also something slightly bitter in it , not sure where it’s coming from. My pick of the 3. Longevity is really good , projection and sillage – decent.
My personal favorite Hermetica fragrance is by far Sandalsun . Every gourmand lover should sample it.

Thank you for the opportunity .Virginia

  • Enjoyed the review and these are interesting. Rosefire and Patchoulilight are the 2 I’d like to check out mostly. How to get a chance. Thanks, Ca

  • Michael Prince says:

Sebastian, great review of Hermetica VerticalOud, PatchouliLight, and RoseFire. I like that Hermetica  eaux de parfums which are vegan, clean, green, alcohol-free, refillable, long-lasting, and cruelty free. It is also interesting that they are water based fragrances that moisturize the skin. I agree with Sebastian that my favorite of the 3 fragrances listed is PatchouliLight. If I win I will pick PatchouliLight. I am from the USA.

  • An alcohol free fragrance that is moisturizing, and have a different take on top and mid notes – sign me up. Thanks for the excellent review Sebastian.

I’d definitel go with VerticalOud or the PatchouliLight.

    Location – Madison, WI, USA

    Regards

  • Well done, Sebastian! Straight to the info and a nice voice.
Love the collection name and the fact that Hermetica says they use ancient practice of alchemy. Does that not pique your interest?
The fact that there’s no alcohol is amazing and they are moisturizing. Do you wonder why fragrance makers ever steered away?
It’s a toss up between Verticaloud and PatchouliLight. Perhaps this is the order of choice thought I adore Sandalwood and Patchouli.

  • “…refillable, long-lasting—and moisturizing! wow. and based on sebastian’s review, which was thorough, i would pick hermetica’s verticaloud. thank you!

  • I had no idea Hermetica had a relation with Memo Paris and found Sebastian’s review quite informative as always. I also like the concept of a moisturizing oud fragrance. I’d love to win Vertical Oud. Thank you for the review and the giveaway. I’m in USA

  • First time I’ve heard Hermetica was on YouTube. Reviewer called NotesPunch did pretty good brand overview on his channel. I also remember Ida Meister did Jade 888 honest, and straight to the point review.
Never had a chance to smell Hermetica fragrances , but I own a bottle of Tiger’s Nest from the parent company Memo Paris, and over 10 samples too. I so wanted to get African Leather, but unfortunately I get average performance from it. Tiger’s Nest works wonders through.
Rosefire is the best of the three. Being Pastry Chef I’ll always pick the sweetness one 🙂
Description reminded me of Rose and Lemon Cake, with real rose Water.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign
    USA

  • Water based , with moisturizing effects, long lasting and going straight to the base fragrances. No doubt Hermetica are bringing a lot of new things to the fragrance game.
I wonder what it is to smell like a candied Turkish Delight? Wow Rosefire I’d like to win.
    Thanks for the draw

  • I have never heard about moisturizing fragrances before. This sounds interesting.
    I’ll choose Patchoulilight

  • I love Sebastian’s review, highly rely on his take for my fragrance purchases! I actually got Vertical Oud for my husband! This line is very interesting, I would love to try the Rosefire one!!!
