Every year since our inception on March 22nd of 2010 (our very first article for ÇaFleureBon was written by Michel Roudnitska on Ethical Perfumery) bespoke perfumes have been composed under my creative direction by independent perfumers to celebrate our anniversaries. On the first anniversary of ÇaFleureBon in 2011, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz of DSH Perfumes created Lautrec.

This year DSH Perfumes Drama Queen for ÇaFleureBon is the fourth “Queen” in our series and we come full circle. My briefs always begin with “Make me a fragrance… (in this case a vintage style floral) I can wear.” DSH Perfumes DRAMA QUEEN for ÇaFleureBon does just that. I have often wondered if I was living in the wrong era, so DSH Perfumes DRAMA QUEEN for ÇaFleureBon is homage to the larger than life iconic women of stage and screen I have always revered- Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor, Dorothy Dandridge, Maria Callas and Rita Haworth; all shone in the bright lights, surrounded by adoring fans and the press, putting on a perfect face for the public, as their personal lives fell apart. To quote Elizabeth Taylor, “You find out who your real friends are when you’re involved in a scandal.

In Numerology, the number “11”, has very special meanings: intuition, teaching, charisma, and teamwork. We dedicate Drama Queen to all our readers, Editors and Contributors present and past and to the olfactive artists who continue to fuel our passion for perfumery- Michelyn Camen, Editor-In-Chief

When I was invited to create the next “Queen” in the series I was utterly delighted and inspired by the concept of Drama Queen.  While some might think of Drama Queen and immediately get a vision of hyperbolic eye rolling and fainting, the image that came for both Michelyn and myself was that of  Old Hollywood stars and operatic divas, who experienced extreme heights and valleys in their careers and personal lives When translating the concept of  DSH Perfumes Drama Queen for ÇaFleureBon into scent, I had two big ideas whirring through my mind: I wanted the perfume to be a vintage-style, aldehydic, white floral-chypre that even Michelyn could (and would!) wear. Because while Michelyn LOVES Old Hollywood, vintage perfumes just don’t really excite her. Above all, Drama Queen needed to be a perfume everyone could wear.

Rita Hayworth in The Lady of Shanghai, 1947

Michelyn chose a number of images as inspiration. For Rita Hayworth she chose a dramatic still from “The Lady from Shanghai”, one of her last films and co-starring with her ex-husband, Orson Welles. Her glamorous beauty feels merely surface when you juxtapose the tension and heartbreak there for all to see in the scenes with Mr. Welles. Rita Hayworth was radiant on screen, but in much of her real early life, there was devastation.

Dorothy Dandridge's tragic life

Dorothy Dandridge/Life Magazine by Steven Clarke, 1951

For Dorothy Dandridge, the first African-American sex symbol, and one of the most talented and glamorous beauties, her light shone bright for just a short time.  After destructive love affairs, a disastrous marriage, and a forced abortion had taken their toll, she died penniless and homeless.

Ava Gardner The Killers

Photo of Ava Gardner from the 1946 movie The Killers image Universal/The Kobal Collection

Ava Gardner, the stunning dark-haired beauty lived a tumultuous life that included three marriages to Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw and deep love affair then marriage to Frank Sinatra. She left Frank Sinatra to run away with a bull-fighter! In her later years, ravaged by  poor health, booze and cigarettes she shocked the world with her death bed confessions. This powerful image from the movie The Killers speaks volumes of a life in chiaroscuro.

Drama Queen Maria Callas

Maria Callas as Medea, 1954 Teatro la Fenice photo unsigned

The epitome of drama queens with the corresponding darkness lurking just below the surface, are Maria Callas and Elizabeth Taylor.

Elizabeth Taylor inspired DSH Perfumes Drama Queen for CaFleureBon

Elizabeth Taylor Promoting Cleopatra1962 Photo Bert Stern (her tracheotomy scar clearly visible)

Both were strikingly strong and beautiful, praised for their glamorous personae. But they struggled with personal demons. The dramas acted out on stage and screen were dwarfed by the drama in their own lives. Depression, addiction (in the case of Ms. Taylor), extravagance, and suicide attempts (in the case of Ms. Callas) haunted their tumultuous lives.

As befitting our Drama Queens and the era in which they reigned, the top note of the perfume shines with aldehydes like the bright, flashing bulbs of the press. Voluptuous ribbons of ripe fruit, neroli, and sambac jasmine dazzle as the heart note develops waiting in the wings are grandiflorum jasmine, orange blossom absolute, and the ‘great floral diva’ tuberose who steal the show. But in the dry down, the ever-present darkness and melancholy of oakmoss lurks behind the sensuality of tolu balsam, ambergris, musk, and civet.

With one spritz of Drama Queen we can be transformed, because there is a bit of a Drama Queen in all of us.Dawn Spencer-Hurwitz on DSH Perfumes Drama Queen for ÇaFleureBon

Notes: Aldehydes, red mandarin, bergamot, pear, cassis, neroli, jasmine sambac, jasmine grandiflorum, orange blossom, tuberose, Egyptian rose, Lily of the valley, ylang ylang, sandalwood, cedar wood, vanilla, benzoin, tolu balsam, oakmoss, civet, ambergris, and musk.

(note from Michelyn and Dawn: thank you Deputy Editor Ida Meister for your keen nose in evaluating base notes of the final mod).

My ‘Drama Queen’ tribute is an ode to light and darkness. For putting on a brave face when the spotlight hits you while keeping the shadows within at bay. I wanted this piece to exude an innate regality, a dignified yet imposing presence! It has 11 wings, ten of which are visible and one that is hidden – a nod to the 11th anniversary of ÇaFleureBon! And since steel is the customary gift on such a momentous occasion, I made sure to include some metallic-looking feathers in the plumage of this bird. Happy anniversary to ÇaFleureBon and to the people behind the stories! Here is to many more to come!”-Crisitan Maianciuc

  • Congratulations Çafleurebon! I enjoy reading the reviews always poetic, knowledgeable and beautifully illustrated.
I love the name drama queen and after a year without getting my theatre fix, it feels very apt. I miss seeing my favourite leading ladies on stage belting their hearts out.
It is only apt that Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, leading lady in perfumery was chosen to create Drama Queen as anniversary edition. I’m lucky to own Mirabella which reminds me of classic divas from a goneby era and would love to try drama queen.
My queen name guess for 2022 is Dancing Queen, because we could all do with a little of that right now. Marit UK

  • CaFleureBon has been an invaluable resource in discovering new fragrances and innovative perfumers as well as remembering and recognizing the classics and scents that reference the classics. I certainly can’t argue with the inspirations for Drama Queen; Ava Gardner, Dorothy Dandridge, Maria Callas. All are strong, memorable enigmatic women. The note list sounds like a vintage perfume but the fruit and darkness in the dry down lend it a modern feel. Happy 11th Anniversary! Commenting from MD, USA.

Happy 11th anniversary Michelyn and team. A milestone you can be proud of. I have fond memories of discovering Cafleurebon all those years ago from down here on the other side of the planet. It was as engaging to read then as it is now. Looking forward to the next 11 years of fragrant writing!

  • Dubaiscents says:

An aldehyde floral chypre! Now this is a fragrance to celebrate 11 wonderful years of Cafleurebon! I can’t believe it has been that long. I have been reading for about the past 9 years and there have been countless brands and perfumers that I have learned about only here. I so appreciate that Cafleurebon covers the spectrum of niche scents from the smallest and newest to the classics and does so every.single.day! I would love to try this lovely sounding new Queen. I don’t know what next year’s will be but, I have been watching the Queen’s Gambit so maybe something with a hallucinogen quality to it? Congratulations! US

  • well — considering that another perfume created in collaboration with michelyn is one of my all-time favorites (lakshmi by ajne) and that dawn is one of my most favorite american perfumers — this will be, no doubt, another inspired creation i would LOVE to try. and i mean: oakmoss!!!

ÇaFleureBon is a perfume resource unlike any other, or rather, a perfume community, where each review is written with sincerity, attention to detail, where passion for perfumery is manifested so vividly that it can captivate a person who is not interested in perfumery with the articles. I am very glad that I found your site. Happy Birthday! I wish you further prosperity!
I love the idea of dedicating a fragrance to strong women, I bet 2022 Queen could be Abigail Adams or Simone de Beauvoir.

This site has opened up a divine world to me. It has introduced me to perfumes and perfumers I would never have known. I also adore these stunning actresses and when you add in DSH, how could any perfume lover resist?

I am not familiar with these actreses but I am intrigued by their presence and beauty just captivating. Thanks a million for the giveaway from the United Kingdom

  • Hi I am a huge DSH fan but being in the U.K. it’s not so easy to try. Everything I have got my hands on I love though and I have Cafleurbon to thanks as I won 10ml last year. I hope it’s ok to keep trying to win more DSH as this sounds wonderful. I love to smell vintage but not necessarily wear, so a wearable interpretation sounds perfect.
Cafleurbon means finding out about nee perfumers I might never come across and is a fabulous resource to read up on older perfume reviews. The articles are extremely well written and done with love, it’s very enjoyable, thank you.
I would take a guess at 2022 as Drag Queen possibly a fun lipstick smeared scent that takes you on an exciting ride.

  • Dsh is a house that I am not familiar with I am afraid but I am intrigued by the notes especially jasmine Sambac. Tuberose and Ylang Ylang. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • Happy birthday and many successes to all members of the Çafleurebon team on all levels! For me, this website is a river of inspiration and generosity, but also an excellent way to find out more historical, artistic and facts related to the materials and essences they use in the reviewed perfumes.

With one spritz of Drama Queen we can be transformed, because there is a bit of a Drama Queen in all of us.“ I guess it is Dorothy Dandridge, if we are choosing between those beauties mentioned in the article.

I’m not a super fan of aldehaides but I would for sure try this one, it’s something out of my confort zone but sounds amazing.
I’n new to the world of cafleurebon.com but I discorver this reality that matches perfectly my biggest passion: parfumery!
    Greetings from Milan, Italy!

  • Cafleurbon means a lot to me, since it is the first place on the internet where I dare to share my passion. For years I was only a ghost that was reading and appreciating fragrance content.
What appeals to me in Drama Queen is like Michlelyn vintage floral especially chypree are not my cup of tea, but these days I have discovered a passion for aldehydes. So a bespoke cafleurebon fragrance, that was inspired by those incredible and glamorous women, but created for everyone is very attractive.
For the next queen fragrance I will try ” Queen Bee” since these days honey seems to be quite trendy.

I love classic films and classic fragrances, and seeing what images you pulled really interested me (also, anyone who is similarly interested in classic Hollywood, I super recommend the podcast ‘You Must Remember This’ (no affiliation)).
I started following CFB maybe 8-10 years ago, when I was in high school and developing my interest in fragrance. I took a break through college and grad to focus on my studies, and now that I’ve graduated and am working in the fragrance industry, I’m back. It’s been a journey 🙂
    I’m guessing Red Queen.

  • Congratulations and happy anniversary!
Any time I see a mention of a new perfume from Dawn, especially here, gets me very excited as I adore everything I’ve tried from DSH! This perfume truly sounds delicious and I thank you for the chance to try the next Drama Queen!

Thank you so so much, I’m in the US.

  • Happy Anniversary! For me CaFleureBon has meant an escape from the dull world around me into the fantasy world of words and fragrances. It is a highlight of my days. What appeals to me about this fragrance? The giant Hollywood stars and their personal dramas is just a fantastic spark for a perfume. Sometimes I would like that extra layer of armor and confidence provided by a scent like this when facing the world.
My guess for the 2022 Queen is Freddie Mercury.
    I am in the US.

  • BostonScentGuy says:

Dawn does “retro sensibilities meets modern construction” so well, and this sounds up that alley! I especially love the description that there is a darkness that constantly hums beneath the scent. I’m in the US/Boston. As for the next queen…perhaps Queen Bee?

  • Shirley De la Torre says:

I have been a long time fan of DSH and adore CaFleureBon for the rich tapestry of aroma joy that has been brought to my world!
Drama Queen is the next exquisite beauty in a long line of exquisite beauties! A celebration of vivaciousness, happy haughtiness and womanly wiles! What a delight!!!

  • I love it! Cheeky! Fragrances of this classic unapologetic chypre nature are my favorite. In particular I have a very soft spot for civet! CaFleureBon was a site I discovered early in my fragrance journey and has been amazing for helping me grow my expertise of this hobby. I love to hear the insight from those who have been in ‘the game’ much longer than I. For me, CaFleureBon has become intrinsic to my passion for fragrance and a site I check multiple times a day! Thank you for all you do. My guess for the 2022 queen is… Glam Queen!
    From Canada with love.

  • I’m thrilled to see such a beautiful article and creation by DSH to celebrate an important milestone for Cafleurebon, a fragrance magazine and hub that has given me the opportunity to get to know many wonderful brands and fragrances. I very much enjoy the articles’ inspirations, especially the ones about Hollywood and movie stars. I also love to read the Fragrant Awakening stories. Drama Queen sounds like something I would love because of the sparkling aldehydes, voluptuous bouquet, and oakmoss. And, what a gorgeous inspiration! Because 12 is the approximate number of full moon lunations, I think next year’s queen will be Lunar Queen. Happy 11th Anniversary! I am in the USA.

  • I discovered Cafleurebon when you were about a year or two old, and was amazed at all the perfumes you introduced me to. I had thought I was pretty well informed, but you always managed to find perfumers that were new to me, and in more recent years that trickle has turned into a flood. Dawn is the perfect partner to collaborate with Cafleurebon on this anniversary. Cafleurebon has always championed indie perfumers and Dawn is the Queen of artistic perfumers. Plus she works magic with vintage-style scents, so Drama Queen can’t help but be a knock out! Congratulations again on this milestone, and long may you continue!

  • CaFleureBon has been an inspiration and a special connection that has provided me with information, art appreciation beyond my scope, and friends that have become my extended family 🙂 Thank YOU! Seriously I love all the notes and the descriptions of this composition. I look forward to the transformation because yes, I confess I also have a bit of a drama queen flare-up once in awhile. Congratulations on 11 years of the best content and art extraordinaire. Thinking of those not physically with us but always present in spirit and memories. What a fantastic tribute to 11 years CaFleureBon, DSH, and Crisitan Maianciuc.

  • Laurie Erickson says:

Congrats to Michelyn and team Cafleurebon on your 11th Anniversary! You’ve been a shining light for the fragrance world and artisan perfumery since your inception. Here’s to many more birthdays! Sounds like DSH has made a beautiful tribute scent for the occasion! (No need to enter me in the draw, but I will have to sniff this one sometime! Just wanted to offer my congrats!)

  • Cafleurebon has been a great daily learning experience – about perfumery, perfumes, perfumes, the chemistry of fragrances, and almost getting to know people, as much as possible online. Also, the editors here write so well – sometimes more than the reviews I enjoy the writings for their literary quality, and the stories and histories and geographies of the places that inspire certain perfumes. Drama Queen seems to be a very yin-yang perfume – “ode to light and darkness”, a perfume of deep contrasts. Intriguing perfume made by DSH. Unfortunately, I have yet to try one of her creations. Thanks for the draw. From USA.

  • Seaintosky says:

What a fascinating scent description! I love the idea of a vintage scent, but likewise often find it difficult to wear actual vintage fragrances so a modern take on vintage sounds perfect.

I appreciate CaFleureBon as a haven of sanity and honesty in an industry that seems packed with marketing nonsense and YouTube reviewers promoting hype. I always feel that the opinions here are thoughtful and honest.

    I live in BC, Canada

  • I love the duality of the glamour and tragedy of the description! The site has been a great resource for finding new perfumes and learning how to appreciate them better.

Congratulations Çafleurebon! I am so happy that I recently discovered it. It brings me great joy everyday to read about parfumes, discovere new things, learn about creators that are behind all the masterpieces. So really, I want to say big thank you to everyone devoting their time and energy, that we readers could enjoy it all. For the next Queen I would choose Resilient Queen, that is unbreakable even in darkest times! I absolutely love the idea of parfume inspired by these incredible woman.
    Congratulations once again from EU

  • Happy birthday Cafleurebon, to many more! May you continue being a never tiring, genuine source of information and inspiration to all of us! Thanks to all the present and past editors for putting all this assiduous effort to bring us joy daily.

About Drama Queen…well, as soon as I read Maria Callas and Liz Taylor, I was caught. Their life stories are unique and their skill, unequaled. Therefore, I am sure they got a fragrance fit for their persona. Drama Queen indeed does sound like a vintage floral, judging by the notes. Yet, the article promises it’s modern enough to be wearable. I would be delighted to smell that delicate and hard to achieve balance.
    I live in Europe.
My guess for the next queen will be…Queen of the Night! Let’s get some dark and mysterious stuff out there.

    Happy fragrance day!

  • ÇaFleureBon is a deep well of perfumed inspiration. Though my desire to keep up with new releases has sometimes waned, my infatuation with the world of fragrance, and the people who bring it to life, is still strong. Happy anniversary to ÇaFleureBon!

Notes of white flowers make perfect sense for Drama Queen. White florals appeal whether presented in a silken soft hush or brash and loud! I can’t imagine what the next perfumed Queen will be named . . . though it occurs to me that Queen Elizabeth II is the 12th queen of England, so perhaps a perfumed named for Lilibet? I’m in the US. Thank you for all the perfumed fun.

  • Well, for me, even though I just got into it a few months ago, ÇaFleureBon has been a bit of a lifeline. Though I’m not sure anybody reads my comments, I enjoy writing them. It keeps my brain running at least a little. Drama Queen sounds gorgeous. I love that combination of notes and I love those glamour queens and identify with their stories. Some possible future queens: Queen of Swans, Queen of the World, Queen of Light(s), Size Queen, Mad Queen, Fairy Queen, Climate Queens, Queen of Hearts. (USA)

  • Congratulations and happy anniversary!
Cafleurebon is such a unique place. For me, it presents a superb platform to discover and appreciate outstanding perfumes, to learn about the artistry of perfume making, about notes and accords, houses’ history, perfumers,… and to enjoy a creative, literary, and sometimes the journalistic style of writing. The draws are so fun and spice up the whole learning and reading process. Also, they make me more engaged to delve into the fragrances presented and to express my opinions.
So my thoughts about Drama Queen. 🙂 Since I love contemporary fragrances with a pinch of nostalgia, Drama Queen has all my attention. The long list of notes is captivating and the description of the composition is intriguing. I enjoyed reading about the creative process of conducting the perfume: from an initial Michelyn’s brief, images that were used for inspiration to DSH’s translation of an idea into the scent,
Thanks to the Cafleurbon team for sharing knowledge, experience, and passion for perfumes.
    Greetings from Slovenia (EU).

Cafleurbon has been my window onto the world of fragrances. Your reviews of both past and present scents have been inspired as well as informative. Congratulations of 11 years of success and many more. I love the “divas” that you have picked out to represent your drama queens and certainly the creation by DSH attests to them. What comes to mind for me is Queen of the Light as we are hopefully emerging from our darkest night. I’m in the USA

  • First of all what appeals to me about Drama Queen are the notes!A great floral Diva! DSH is the best! Sounds Beautiful. I also enjoyed all of the Pictures of the “Drama Queens” I want to thank CaFleureBon for all of the great articles and fun reading I have done. My addiction to fragrances and trying new ones and the game to try to win some, is so much fun and educational. The next queen my be Drag Queen! Congrats on 11 years!!

Congratulations CaFleureBon on your proud and magical 11th anniversary! May the teamwork continue and bring everyone an abundance of joy and happiness!
To me, CaFleureBon has been the highest level of advancement in terms of reading articles and reviews from such knowledgeable and creative people the Editors and Contributors are. I have found out about many perfume houses, perfumers and fragrances here that I would most likely never heard of otherwise. For this I am eternally grateful.
DSH perfumes Drama Queen seems to be infused with strong, polarizing emotions – from curiosity to melancholy and distance. Utterly alluring and addictive.
Thank you from the Republic of Ireland, EU

  • Oh my. SO much wonderful information!
Cafleurebon has been so very helpful to me, I very much enjoy reading all the articles & reviews and finding out about the latest releases.

I’m suggesting Hollywood Queen for a name.
Thanks much for the very generous giveaway, I live in the USA.

  • ÇaFleureBon is great guide to fantastic fragrances. It is nice to see reviews that are not always using phrases like “that is fire” or “hype worthy “. Drama Queen Definitely had a not break down like classic scents. This should have a good bit of silage with the amount of notes.

    USA

  • To me, ÇaFleureBon is a door I peek into every day for daily fresh breathe of information, to greet the world still very much outside my domain, and come back to everyday life with a curious and open mind to start the day.

(At times the door became that Doraemon Anywhere Door – not for me to go out, but for the outside to drop perfumes from the other side to try out for real! That possibility adds great fun to my peeking through the door everyday).

How the concept of Drama Queen translated into the layer of notes in DSH Perfumes Drama Queen for ÇaFleureBon highly appeals to me. The underlying depth and bitterness of the drydown attracts me, and I wonder how the bright dramatic notes will float above this drydown.
+ Also found the origami a great inspiration! (Hmm and I think I might be able to guess where the 11th hidden wing is)

    I’m based in Thailand!
As for 2022 Queen, hmm — with good hope in 2022 we will be slowly waking up from this standstill of a pandemic, safe and sound. I’ll go with Sleeping Queen (and how she’s slowly surfacing from this slumber!). Perhaps to remind us of this point in time where everything stands still; perhaps to remind us to wake up and get going, now that we can 🙂

  • Happy anniversary Cafleurebon! May you continue to educate and inspire us for many years to come! And many thanks to Dawn, how generous and inspirational of her to commemorate your “birthday” in such a creative way! I read the stories of the divas with a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Why does beauty and talent come with such an extortionate price? All we can do is admire them from afar. I’m very intrigued by “Drama Queen”. Like Ida, I’m not a fan of big, bold, old-school fragrances. I’m curious to see what Dawn’s magic hand has done to the classic recipe. Warm wishes and hugs from Greece!

  • Well, this will go right on the “Blind Buy” list! DSH never disappoints and I loved reading her description and thoughts. CaFleureBon was always a pleasure to read but during the last year it has become a sorely needed point of connection with fellow fragrance lovers and a place to escape the noise and unrelenting bad news of the world. I’m in the US and I’d love it if you next Queen was Faerie Queen!

  • wallygator88 says:

    Congratulations for the review CFB.
When I first came across the site, I could not figure it out at all. However after a year of reading it, it is a habit for me to hiot the refresh key in the afternoon and find the latest perfume review. I feel like I’m reading the news.

I love all the florals in this fragrance. The idea of it being a timeless capture from the past makes it so alluring.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I tend to buy a part of my fragrances only by their name and start to love them just by finding myself in their title or description. This is the case here, although I’m not really a drama queen, I wish to be. I’m currently in Romania.

  • ÇaFleureBon showcased some houses that I wasn’t aware of before and shade some lights on some of my favourite living perfumers (which are less than 7 now). From the description, I can sense that Drama Queen (DSH) will be an aldehydic floral bomb with lots of gorgeous animalic and resinous support – an exciting prospect. I would hazard a guess that ÇaFleureBon’s 2022 Queen is a flower – perhaps narcissus – a tempestuous flower. Thanks (Bangladesh & UK)

Congrats to Cafleurebon I am new in my fragrance journey, but I savor the thoughtful, evocative, and informative writing as I explore the vast expanse of fragrant territory. As for Drama Queen, I’ve found myself drawn to fragrances that bring a modern twist to a vintage style fragrance. Also, the idea of capturing the shadow side of feminine glamour is intriguing. My guess about the 2022 Queen, I’d say Scream Queen, a fragrant tribute to the COVID horror show. I live in the USA.

  • Happy birthday Çafleurebon , here’s my wish of at least one more decade (well, technically 11 years, eheh) of perfume discovery !!

  • I’m glad that I discovered Cafleurebon: Around this time last year, I did not know anywhere near as much about perfumery as I do now, and this site is definitely a reason why I’m much more informed now. Even though I’m not at all a “drama queen” I still want to try this fragrance. I like chypres and I can like floral fragrances. I’m also interested in trying something which might cause one to think that they are in some other time in history. I live in MD., U.S.A.

  • I’ve found this site to be an immersion in sensual luxury during the pandemic. I love learning, and this is where I’ve found passionate descriptions that transport me on a daily basis. It is pleasure and delight, and the challenge of putting into words this profoundly subjective experience of scent.

I just watched Lady of Shanghai two nights ago! I’m drawn to this tragic beauty, I suppose, and I prefer fragrances that have an animalic undercurrent too. The base notes sound lovely for that reason.

Congratulations on your milestone! Submitting this from Portland, OR.

  • Happy Anniversary CaFleureBon! Although I have just recently discovered you, I always find invaluable resources, described so in words that I couldn’t imagine. I would love to try the aldehyde floral chypre in Drama Queen. My bests from Romania, EU

ÇaFleureBon has been a constant source of discovery & joy of beautiful writing. It’s so nice to read a review that doesn’t obsess about silage & performance, but rather celebrates & understands the art of perfumery. I love reading the articles old & new, & it’s my 1st port of call to find information about perfumes. I’ve just recently started to explore Dawn’s work, and I’m kicking myself I didn’t start sooner. This new creation for ÇaFleureBon sounds opulent. A chypre you can wrap yourself in & shine like a diamond.

Thank you all at ÇaFleureBon for all your hard work & beautiful writing could the Queen be Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?
    I’m in Dublin Ireland

  • Cafleurbon has been a great place to discover fragrances and brands, both new and old, through very kompetent writers and contributors, so thank you and congratulation, and <i think the idea behind this and the note breakdown sounds quite intruiging.

Happy anniversary Cafleurebon! I’ve been following you since last summer and I really enjoy reading your articles: so inspiring, interesting, full of amazing quotes, poetry, feelings, sensations…The passion you have for fragrances really shows and also the dedication you have for all of us who follow you is absolutely incredible. I especially enjoy the reviews that put together cinema and fragrances, as well as those talking about the links between visual arts and fragrances, about the way they inspire one another.
Drama Queen seems like a perfume I could enjoy very much: the aldehydes, the flower bouquet and oakmoss/tolu…Fantastic!
A big applause also to Cristian Maianciuc for the design: stunning!
If next year we will finally be able to go back to live again, I would go for a Phoenix Queen, symbolising our rebirth from ashes!

I love the “drama queen” tribute to the stars of vintage Hollywood. I, like Michelyn, am not a big fan of vintage perfumes (especially the chasing down of them), but I trust Dawn Spencer-Hurwitz to create an aldehydic, white-floral dazzler.
Congratulations to Çafleurebon. I come here and learn about history, literature, music, and, most of all. the best creative perfumers at work.
Maybe the next queen could be “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.”
    I live in the USA.

  • ÇaFleureBon has been an education for me in that I am relatively new to perfumery. I still have a lot to learn, but I have enjoyed feeling like I have a little bit of insider knowledge reading a variety of articles here. Dawn’s DSH perfumes have been a particular joy to discover. I’m also a lover of classic movie actresses, so this combination feels made for me. Especially because aldehydes and florals are some of my favorite notes. I live in the USA and my guess for the next creation is Queen Bee.

I have been called a Drama Queen on occasion – more often when I was a child. These images are quite striking. I love the feather artwork inspired by the fragrance.
    Happy Anniversary Cafleurbon!
