Much has transpired since my last update for our 2017 Perfume Shopping Guide in New York City. Over thirty new store openings/ location changes and closings took place.
Here are the highlights:
Most if not all of the department stores have redesigned their Beauty and Fragrance floors and, in the case of Saks Fifth Avenue, moved it to another floor and offers more of a niche experience to those perfume shopping in New York City. Neiman Marcus along with The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards, New York’s newest neighborhood which includes a number of fragrant retail choices opened their doors.
Elizabeth Street continues its reign as the most scented block by expanding its fragrance offerings with the new Scent Bar annex from Los Angeles, NEST, and Claus Porto. And, two blocks over on Mulberry Street, Brooklyn’s D.S. & Durga’s much-anticipated storefront landed.
And, Ulta arrived with much fanfare to New York City. A second store is scheduled to open in Herald Square for 2020.
On a sad note, closing its doors was the storied Lord &Taylor and our much beloved Caron in 2018.
