Angelos Creations Olfactives Yloud Yloud Review (Angelos Balamis) 2022+ Lush Ylang Draw

Angelos Creations Olfactives Yloud Yloud

Angelos Balamis approaches perfumery with the precision of a scientist (he is an electrical engineer, after all) the attention to detail of an historian, and the soulfulness of an artist. His creations olfactives are one of the best collections by a relatively new perfumer I’ve come across: highly wearable modern fragrances that glimmer with vintage facets. Balamis has a talent for conveying passion without overthinking; every one of his perfumes is entirely accessible yet always individual and frankly, quite lovely. His sumptuous new Yloud Yloud calls to mind those huge 80s bombshells like Dune and Giorgio that pile on the flower absolutes. But don’t let the name of this tricksy siren fool you:  Angelos Creations Olfactives Yloud Yloud is much more than an in-your-face throwback floral, or, as the pun suggests a ylang-oud extravaganza. With its dreamy sensuality and orchestral lushness, this like smelling the exuberant Mazurka from Delibes’ Coppelia followed, as the fragrance heads into its later stages, by Strauss’ voluptuous Dance of the Seven Veils.

Angelos Balamis

Yloud Yloud’s moniker cheerfully pokes fun at the flower’s brazen opulence – in fact, think of a floral perfume you consider “big” and I all but guarantee ylang ylang or tuberose has a starring role. But mixed thoughtfully, ylang ylang can be richyl sensual, drowsy and sloe-eyed. Balamis does not stint in his use of absolutes. At 25% concentration, Yloud Yloud comes with a warning that it “is not a perfume but an artisanal and artistic olfactory creation” that may exceed IFRA standards. Bring it on, baby!

In its early stages, Yloud Yloud is frisky and forward, like the popular girl everyone wanted to be or date in high school. The opening is all about ylang; camphorous, fruity like overripe bananas, vanillic and extravagant, with a hint of skank from civet. The vanilla used here is raisin-y, stripped of sweetness, which makes it an admirable foil for the bigness of the ylang. As Yloud Yloud warms up, a cavalcade of tropical flowers stream in like a particularly sexy corps de ballet. Chief among them is a glorious osmanthus, leathery and peachy, which adds a golden sheen to the composition. Jasmine peeks in and out, and a plush rose comes up quietly behind it.

It is at this point the perfume changes tempo and sizzles down to a samba. Whether “cloud” is hinted at in Yloud Yloud’s name or a happy accident, it seems appropriate to Yloud Yloud’s late stages. Balamis’ use of dense, fruity-earthy agarwood and orris brings a shift in mood. Two different agarwood oils are used  – one from Malaysia what accents the leathery qualities of the osmanthus earlier in the trajectory, and one from Cambodia with more animalic aspects. As the agarwoods come forward, they add a dense, woody layer. The fragrance becomes creamy and smooth as geranium and rose come forward and the vanilla and orris merge. Yloud Yloud shimmies from “look at me!” all-out opulence to a sublime, sensual brew that invites close proximity. It is, to quote Jonathan Van Ness, “gorg.”

If you have not yet tried any of Angelos Balamis’ perfumes, I advise you to get on it straightaway. He is so good at perfumery that the first batch of Yloud Yloud, which is limited to 25 bottles, is bound to sell out in no time. Don’t miss out.

Notes: Muguet accord, ylang ylang absolute, rose damascena absolute from Turkey, jasminum grandiflorum absolute from Egypt, orris butter (high irones), clove bud, benzoin Siam, vanilla absolute, osmanthus absolute, patchouli absolute, musk, nagarmotha, sandalwood W. Australia, sandalwood East India, buddha wood, gurjun balsam, tonka bean tincture, civet (synthetic), agarwood oil from Malaysia, agarwood O\oil from Cambodia.

  • A modern fragrance that glimmers with vintage facets? Ylang ylang and tuberose have a starring role? A perfume that’s frisky and forward at the beginning, warming up in a cavalcade of tropical flowers? It seems like something I’d like to wear this spring.

    I live in Portugal

  • I sampled, then immediately bought Grâce D’ Orient. It was (and is) one of the best artisanal fragrances I had sniffed in a long time. Yloud Yloud sounds like the type of vintage-y modern scent that I adore. Along with having many facets that suit me – fruity, leather, peachy, animalic-the 25% concentration definitely caught my eye. I’m in the US.

I love ylang ylang and can’t wait to try it. I am not familiar with anything by Angelo’s Creations Olfactives. Usa

  • What struck me about Yloud Yloud was this, “ylang-oud extravaganza”. I have not tried any from the house. US

  • Lauryn!!! ❤️❤️❤️ This sounds like my kind of fragrance! ❤️ I would love love to be the lucky winner of the Angelos Creations discovery kit!!! ❤️❤️❤️ If you recommend him and he was picked by Michelyn as a rising star, then we must become aquatinted! Thank you so much for this opportunity! USA

  • Love its name, Yloud-Yloud. Cloud, loud… And that the fragrance shares the same description classic, and modern, quirky but wearable. I haven’t tried any fragrances from Angelos creations olfactives but I have heard many compliments about them. From EU- France.

  • Never tried any of these creations, but would definitely love to. After reading the description of Ylaud Ylaud my mouth are watering as I’m imagining ol the scents forming a rich and dense cloud filled with notes forming a symphony. Drooling in EU 😀

  • i like complex fragrances with a lot of notes like this one. Although I am not a huge fan of floral fragrances I appreciate ylang ylang. Angelos is a very creative and talented fellow Greek new perfumer. I would love to try all his creations. I live in Greece like Angelos.

  • What an intriguing combination of notes! I am absolutely mesmerized as I have never tried any of Angelos Creations Olfactives and would love a chance to sample this line. Thank you very much for the draw! I am in the US.

  • Such a lovely review,Lauryn. The notes and the floral facets that describe Yloud Yloud just makes me drool imagining the ingredients used in the making of the perfume, just the way someone uses it to make a buttery dessert. The name suggests high dose of Ylang Ylang and oud. Imagining a floral opening with sweet , woody mid and base along with the dirty nature of civet and oud and that creamy indian sandalwood giving a subtle base with australian sandalwood giving a sharp woody opening. Heads over heels to try this one out. Never tried this house yet.
    I am from India.

Angelos Balamis has been on my wish list for quite some time now, and after reading this article, I really need to get hold of his creations. I have first read about him here on Cafleurebon and he definitely caught my attention (maybe also because I have a not-so-secret-love for anything Greek: I just love anything about this beautiful country, and its people are just so artistic and explosive). Yloud Yloud seems like a masterpiece, there are so many amazing notes and the way they dance and melt together got me extremely intrigued: I was already bought after reading about Ylang Ylang, osmanthus and not sweet vanilla, then comes 2 types of agarwood, orris and civet: I need to try this, and would love to try all Angelos’s creations! Greetings from Italy

  • I am so here for the “olfactory creations”!! I have not heard of this perfumer before- it sounds like a must-try. Thank you for the review- writing from the EU.

  • Great review! Wow!!! Usually I stay away from strong flower scents but this one got it me! I love ylang ylang and being loud doesn’t mean being annoying… I would love to try the discovery set from Angelos Creations Olfactives. I’m sure I will love this house!!!! I’m from Massachusetts, USA.

  • Nose Prose says:

All (ok, many) of the flowers plus oud and orris? It sounds raw-materially decadent. I am not familiar with Angelos Creations Olfactives but obviously need to change that. MA, USA

  • Very clever name on Yloud Yloud, it sounds fantastic, I love Oud, specially cheesy Oud, it is very sensual for me. I appreciate that Angelos love vintages.
Beautiful sample box by the way. Kind regards from Mexico !

  • Wow, so many notes! That alone shows how in tune Angelos is with his craft. I’ve been very intrigued by finding vintage fragrances, and with this is looks to fit the bill but with modern twists. I have never tried any of his fragrances, but they all look really amazing and not your typical 3 note fragrance being mass produced today. Thank you so much for the generous giveaway and good luck to everyone! Oklahoma, United States

  • Angelos Creations Olfactives Yloud Yloud has such a long and lovely list of notes. Rose and oud in any perfume is lovely, but the addition of other notes requires skill and finesse. Unfortunately I haven’t tried anything by Angelos Creations Olfactives, yet, and this draw is great to try out some of their creations. Thanks for your review Lauryn and a generous draw. From USA.

  • What strikes me about Yloud Yloud aside is how according to Lauryn’s review it seems to transition a great deal. It has many notes i enjoy but seems to be more than the sum of its parts. Loved the sound of this, “Yloud Yloud shimmies from “look at me!” all-out opulence to a sublime, sensual brew that invites close proximity. It is, to quote Jonathan Van Ness, “gorg.”” I’ve not tried any of Angelos Creations Olfactives but would love to try them as they sound like wonderful fragrances well composed of fantastic materials. Thanks for the generous giveaway. From USA.

  • msnitechemist says:

I have never heard vanilla described as raisin-y, though it sounds like this is the kind of vanilla I want b/c I don’t like vanilla cupcake-y vanilla. TBH I am a little scared of civet so a sample size of Yloud Yloud, plus the other samples being offered in the giveaway, would be a nice, gentle introduction I’d appreciate. Thank you. I live in the US.

  • I always wanted to hang with the popular girls.
Maybe if i win i can least smell like them…

  • Love the cheeky name!! When I was in HighSchool I used to wear Ylng Ylang essential oil as perfume so the scent takes me back to my adolescence. I have never heard of this house but it truly sounds like something special. Thank for the education and opportunity to try. In Brooklyn, NY.

  • GennyLeigh says:

I have some vintage Dune and Ungaro Diva which I enjoy wearing when I’m in the mood for a big 1980s floral. Angelo’s Creatiions Olfactives’s Yloud Yloud sounds like a lovely nod to those giants but with a modern twist. The note list is stunning with high quality ingredients. I appreciate Lauryn’s dance analogies in describing the evolution of the scent on the skin. I have a decant of L’Oeillet which I love. MD, USA.

  • Jake Dauod says:

What strikes me is the complexity. I absolutely love the name, but all the facets are so intriguing. I have absolutely no idea how this will smell on skin, but I love that. I have not tried any of Angelos Creations Olfactives fragrances, but I would love to try more if the quality is similar to Yloud-Yloud. Kind regards from IN, USA.

  • Dubaiscents says:

This wonderful review by Lauryn pushed me to try my sample of Yloud Yloud (love the name!) that I’ve been hoarding away since receiving it with my first two Angelos full bottles (the first of many, I’m sure). I can honestly say that Lauryn has captured the beauty of this fragrance perfectly! It really is complex and such a wonderful mix of indelicate florals, leather and fruity oud. My husband also adores it! Bravo Angelos!

  • From reading this, I already like everything about it: notes, concept, presentation, everything. And what a clever name: when I said it to myself, I thought it could also sound like “Elude, elude.” I haven’t tried anything from Angelos Creations Olfactives.

  • THIS IS REALLY WONDERFUL, I LOVE DISCOVERING “NOT CONVENTIONAL” PERFUMES.
    Linda EU

  • Great review, Lauryn – as always! This sounds just like an INCREDIBLE PERFUME, just looking at this note listing, I really can’t even imagine the depth it has. This sounds INCREDIBLE!!!! I sadly haven’t tried any of Angelos Balamis’ perfumes, so this discovery kit would be just the right thing! 😀 I live in Croatia, EU

  • Nice review Lauryn! The rising star Angelos Balamis is a mixture of scientist, historian and artist on creating modern fragrances with vintage facets! Wow, the young Angelo can make history on the fragrance world! the sumptuous Yloud Yloud is a floral opulent with Ylang ylang on the main role and in an astonishing 25% concentration!! But Ylang is accompanied here with many amazing notes that melt together seamlessly. He uses one of my preferred one: osmanthus absolute with all the leathery and peachy glory that combines so well with two different agarwood oils: the oud so present in the name of the scent. Let´s dance! I’ve not tried any of Angelos Creations Olfactives yet so the discovery kit draw will be perfect! I live in Spain, EU.

  • punchflower says:

Oud and a bit of skank, but with heavy floral/fruity to start. This whole fragrance sounds intriguing and wonderful. I have not tried any Angelos Creations Olfactives fragrances, and looking at the descriptions of the various fragrances in the sample set, it would be such a privaledge to try them! From US.

  • I’ve been following Angelo on Instagram since I read an article about his perfumes on Caflerubon, but have not had the opportunity to sniff any of his gems yet. I really love artisanal and self-taught aspects of his creative olfactive path.
Based on Lauryn’s impressions, Angelo’s new »limited-edition« release Yloud Yloud is a modern fragrance with some vintage twists, which is one of my favorite kind of fragrances. Ylang and oud are mingling so intensely, that that they inspired the creation of new words that are the name of the fragrance, which immediately tell its main notes in an innovative manner. The notes breakdown is breath-taking: it seems there are many naturally-sourced ingredients in Yloud Yloud
Thank you for another generous giveaway and a superb review.

A house that I have not tried anything by but this sounds like a magical concoction. Thanks a million from the UK

  • I am really awe struck by the notes and blending a marvelous description by Lauryn my curiosity is piqued by this house and the perfumer. A house that I need to explore further. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • I haven’t tried anything from this line, but I love the name Yloud Yloud! It’s super clever. The description of overripe bananas and raisin-y vanilla is very appealing to me. I live in New England, USA.

  • In its early stages, Yloud Yloud is frisky and forward, like the popular girl everyone wanted to be or date in high school 🙂 I made an image and loved the description! I so want to try it as I ve never tried Angelos creations before. And I live in Greece 🙂

The scientist/ historian/ artist approach have got me all the way! So impressed by Angelos Balamis’s approach to perfume making. Conveying passion without overthinking, and making modern fragrances with vintage facets – that is heaven! The descriptive journey about Yloud Yloud Lauren takes the reader on is amazing in all its gradients (frisky and forward to creamy and smooth), and the notes used simply steal my heart. I adore ylang-ylang, and then there is benzoin, raisin-y deep vanilla, my eternal love – patchouli, tonka, sandalwood and two types of agarwood oils… I would be delighted to try Angelos Creations Olfactives fragrances. Thank you from Ireland, EU

  • I am very curious about the creations of Angelos for I know he is an independent artist, so he has a different vision on perfumes, no constraints, full liberty. I would like a taste of this liberty. Thank you!

  • Southirina says:

Ylang ylang. Osmanthus. Leather and peach. What an interesting and beautiful combination.
The proof of Angelos’ talent and artistic legacy is that Yloud Yloud is not a perfume but an artisanal and artistic olfactory creation.
    Hugs from Romania

Hello! I love hearing the backgrounds of folks that get into making perfume. Angelos Balamis is no exception. Hearing about his scientific background is interesting, because with perfumery–once you are done with the art piece, all you have left is the mathematical precision regarding the replication of the fragrance.

I am a fan of vintage perfume, as these are the fragrances that got me into the hobby, generally speaking. I’ll never forget the first refreshing tone of Giorgio!

Also, I love oud and ylang ylang, so this frag is a no brainer. Cool name by the way!! The concentration is awesome, as I love the heavy hitters that last all day!

Thanks for the great review Ms. Lauren Beer and thank you to Angelos Creations Olfactives for your generosity and the opportunity.

  • Thank you! I have tried Angelos’ L’ œillet before, which is bordering on a perfect fragrance for me, but alas I found the carnation to be a little to strong in this for it to truly be a grail. Yloud sounds like it would be very nice as all of these notes would play wonderfully together. Angelos is someone to keep an eye on, his creations are fantastic.
    Thank you from Canada!

  • The amazing notes of the fragrance and it’s uniqueness sparks my interest. I haven’t tried any Angelos Creations Olfactives fragrances. I live in Poland, EU.

  • I liked everything about Angelos because we have many common features, the same background, and the same passion for perfumery. But I did not start yet my journey in this beautiful world of fragrances. I think I will do the same as he did to become an indie perfumer 🙂 I liked his inspiration for Yloud Yloud. However, I did not have the chance to try any of his creations. Thank you Lauryn for this interesting presentation, you did it nicely 🙂 Greetings from Sarajevo, BiH

Thanks for the great review Lauryn.

The notes on this sound really nice. I love the use of two different oud to tease out different facets of the fragrance. Most intruiguing is the use of a fruity agarwood – I haven’t encountered that before.

I love how this fragrance moves through all the different notes in such a logical way.

I have not tried any of the fragrances from this house.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • First hearing of this fragrance and House. It’ll be nice to have the Discovery Set and explore .
Had a feeling Yloud could be Ylang Ylang and Oud. Thanks, Ca

  • Ylang -Ylang and tuberose are beautiful as single notes but together sounds even more beautiful. Dune and Giorgio are 2 fragrances I owned as a teenager, and I loved them both. I remember everyone wore Giorgio, it was the “it” fragrance for both women and girls alike. Like many other fragrances here on Cafleurebon, I’ve never heard of Angelos Creations. U.S.

  • If I win this discovery set for this fragrance house, then that would be excellent for me because I’ve heard of this company but I haven’t tried anything from them yet, and I’ve also been hearing good things about their fragrance releases. I’m interested to try this fragrance because of its list of notes and because Lauryn made it seem like the notes accompany each other well. I live in the U.S.A.

  • sephrenia300 says:

Fantastic review Lauryn! What strikes me about Yloud Yloud is how bombastic and dramatic it is, with even the name of the fragrance cheekily poking fun at the flower’s opulence and rich sensuality. I love dramatic, opulent, fragrances and learning this one leans into that with a 25% concentration that may exceed IFRA standards excites me and intrigues me. As Lauryn says “Bring it on, baby!” I could not agree more!

i have not tried any Angelos Creations Olfactives fragrances yet although i would very much like to! I live in the US.

Seems such a beautiful modern fragrance that prides it s vintage core. Would defenitely loke to try this discovery set, sure it holds many masterpieces. Unfortunately, i ve never had the chance to try some Angelos Creations Olfactives fragrances. I live in Romania, EU

Have been meaning to order the samples for quite some time, but of course wont say no when I’d win it! Either way, very happy to see Angelos Balamis succeed in starting a new perfume house and be listed in the fragrance databases.
