Viseart Eyeshadow Palette 06 Paris Nude

Viseart eyeshadow palettes, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…

A  MUA friend of mine who did a shoot in Paris last year brought me back my first Viseart eyeshadow palette, Matte Neutral 1 (review to follow) and of course I stalked Instagram for months trying to learn more. Viseart is a company from Paris that is well known to make up artists and hardcore beauty junkies and is carried online at a few stockists (available Alcone, Naimie's, Nigel's and Frends Beauty). They are known for their HD quality palettes for the lips, eyes and for the face.  Last year Sephora.com began to carry four of the shadow palettes: 01 Matte, 03 Bridal Satin, 05 Sultry Muse and  06 Paris Nude.  Within hours they would sell out, but I was fortunate to snag them in November 2014.  Each eyeshadow palette contains 12 individual pans and are packaged in minimal plastic cases for $80.   If you think of the cost of Dior, CHANEL, Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilsbury, Givenchy  etc… these are in the same price range but in my opinion offer much more.. as you are certainly not paying for luxury packaging.  For those readers who  are eco and anti cruelty conscious, they are not tested on animals, are made without petroleum, parabens, silicons, butylene glycol or propylene glycol, phthalates, or artificial dyes. I have read that the founders have a passion for sustainability and are oenophiles, as well .

I chose to review 06 Paris Neutrals first because it is the most surprising of the four. In the palette the colors look somewhat familiar; a few looked like dupes of what I own. But these shadows have wonderful dimensionality and an almost reflective quality that is unique. The texture of these shadows is amazing, and I don’t need a primer underneath as all are highly pigmented. The only fall out is in the case, which constantly needs dusting. All 12 have varying degrees of shimmer, yet are not glittery and are office appropriate. They have great longevity and can be used wet or dry.  If you like to experiment, all can be mixed to create a custom color and work well with the other three palettes, especially No 1 Matte.  Their compact size makes them perfect for travel as well.

Pont des Arts, Champs-Élysées, Beaux-Arts, Alexandre Trois

The Lighter Shades: Pont des Arts is a pink shimmer with a slight peach undertone, Champs-Élysées is a white gold with micro glitter that is perfect at the corner of your eyes, Beaux Arts is rose gold shimmer that looks metallic in certain lights and is one of my favorites in this palette. Alexandre Trois is pale champagne with slight peach undertones and has been the workhorse of the lighter shades. I use this to highlight my cheekbones as well as my browbone.

Saint-Honoré, Orangerie, Marais, Montaigne viseart 6 paris nudes swatches cafleurebon

Saint-Honoré, Orangerie, Marais, Montaigne

Medium Shades: Saint-Honoré is deceptive because in the pan it looks boring brown, but is anything but blah; a rich plummy bronze with warm undertones, Orangerie is a favorite, (pops blue eyes), and is a real chameleon; shifting from dark copper, bronze or warm rich brown depending on the light. Marais is the color of a copper penny and Montaigne, which looks olive in the pan is actually verdigris with a slight warm taupe undertone.

Vendome, Jeu de Paume, Grand-Palais, Saint Germain

Darker Shades: Vendome is taupey with strong lavender and grey tones; a true duo-chrome and I think this would be a popular color for almost everyone, as it adds dimension to smoky eyes, without looking dramatic. Jeu de Paume is a deepest olive with smoky grey undertones, Grande-Palais  is a deeper more silvery taupe version of St. Honore, use both to build a soft smoky eyes. St Germain (another workhorse) is deep pewter, with lavender undertones. This row is the most neutral, neither warm nor cool and would enhance all eye colors, especially hazel, brown and green.

Disclosure: I purchased Viseart 06 at Sephora.com (which over the past two days have sold out of this particular one twice)

Editor Note:  I believe the name Viseart  is derived from the French Visage and is pronounced viz-ee-art. If you don’t want to wait until Sephora gets this one back in stock, it is available at Frendsbeauty.com right now and check out alconeco.com which sells the complete pro range (02 pearl brights, 04 Dark Mattes, 07 Cool Mattes, etc) For reference I am warm complected,(MAC Nc42, Nars Barcelona), so the the colors may appear differently on you.
