Top Ten Sexy Fragrances for Valentine’s Day 2013 + ScentsThat Smolder (Bad as Me) 55th Grammy Awards Draw
Sexy Scenes in Movies: The Graduate (1967), Last Tango in Paris (1972), Brokeback Mountain (2005) and Body Heat (1981)
What makes a scent sexy? If you ask ten different people you will get ten different answers. The staff of CaFleureBon believe that a sexy perfume seduces, either with a whisper or a shout, smolders and kindles desire. This Valentine's Day, whether you are in the throes of illicit passion or spooning the morning after, the way to your beloved's heart is not through banal Hallmark cards or sweet tarts heart shaped candy; it's through his/her nose.
Jasia Julia Nielson, Contributor
The smell of lipstick, red moist lipstick. You can almost see the kisses flow off the heart-shaped lips like little red mouth-shaped balloons, and evaporate like smoke rings into thin air. A swan down’s powder puff will sprinkle a soft layer of the finest powder, before the doorbell sounds and you’re off to a magical evening at the theatre. You could wear many different fragrances, but tonight is 1889 Moulin Rouge by Histoires de Parfums.

While reminiscing about her days in Paris training as a perfumer, Ineke Rühland, of the San Francisco-based artisan house INeKE, reflected upon the words of T.S. Eliot: "Life is measured in coffee spoons." WIth dreams of Parisian cafés, orange blossom breezes, and perhaps the understanding of true love, Ms. Rühland created Fields Notes from Paris. This fragrance is not the scent of between-the-sheets carnality, it's the morning after. It smells of the moment two hands reach across the bistro table, and two hearts know an absolute truth.

I’m not the type of gal who expects a dozen roses on Valentine’s Day, but around this time of year, I find myself strangely drawn to a single dark complex rose fragrance.
Etat Libre d’Orange Eau de Protection, Rossy de Palma is all edgy intensity, like the woman it is named after. This fragrance thrives in an altered state of extremes where lust and desire and pain and drama co-exist. The lines of decorum blur and bend with Eau de Protection, a stunning blend that starts out with a ginger opening and an almost rose bouquet freshness that crests into a darker thorny peppered rose. The thorn pierces the heart and sinks into its naughty base of patchouli; incense and resin, allowing this seductive rose to bloom again. Notes include: Ginger, Black Pepper, Bulgarian Rose, Frankincense, Cocoa, and Benzoin.

Sexy, much like beautiful, is in the eye of the beholder. What I find sexy others may find too musky, heavy and sweet or too dark. What makes a perfume sexy, for me, is an oriental woody/semi-sweet base on which have been piled rich dark or spicy floral notes after an opening that is either fresh and invigorating or spicy and rather “naughty”. Though Valentine’s Day is about sharing or falling in love…we cannot argue that, more often than naught, “sexy” is a big part of that! Sexy and smoldering? Here are some of my favorites:
Le Labo Rose 31 is, without a doubt or second thought, my favorite male rose scent. What says LOVE more than a rose does? An opening of tender roses balanced by caraway takes the “girly” edge off the flower immediately, as it heats up. The body of (more) rose along with the dry vetiver and gentle strength of cedar is amazing giving it a decidedly masculine vibe while managing to keep the sensuality and tenderness of the rose alive. Finishing on a base of musk, resins and fresh guaiac wood supported and accented with just the right amount of oud is, to me, the epitome of both sexy and smoldering!!
Etat Libre d’Orange Charogne, like many of this House’s scents, truly defies gender associations. It has flowers (lilies, jasmine and ylang) yet also contains just the right amount of spices, resins, incense and woodsy muskiness to cut right to the chase with that enticing “come hither” aura, without being vulgar or too forward. Vanilla and leather in the dry down do dominate the scent, without obliterating the other notes, and make this scent truly magnificent.
Spadaro Luxury Fragrances Noche del Fuego is one of the most seductive scents I have smelled in a long time. This perfume is patchouli-based and lends an air of natural sexiness with just the right amount of “earthy”. Foregoing any fruits or citrus (but bergamot) and any flowers other than saffron, it concentrates on the darker side with black pepper, paprika and sandalwood and melts into an almost carnal deliciousness of honey and vanilla without using any musk whatsoever! This may be made (and marketed) towards women…but it’s robust (and sexy) enough for a man.

When people think of the Marquis de Sade, it is with a mix of allure and repulsion. Renowned and reviled for his erotic writings that feature various forms of torment, with a name that is the root word of “sadistic”, the Marquis brings to mind the most extreme forms of whips and chains. His legacy lives on in the sometimes underground, sometimes above-board world of domination and submission, fetish, and sado-masochism. Lovers today play with fur-lined handcuffs, silky blindfolds, and tickly feathers, to add a little spice to their romance. But how do you scent this? Histoires de Parfums 1740 Marquis de Sade does an admirable job. It is sensual, reeking of darkness, with just enough sweetness to keep it from being too dangerous. It would smell amazing on a swarthy man dressed all in black, or a woman embraced by leather. Let the play begin…
Notes: Bergamot, Davana Sensualis, patchouli, coriander, cardamom, cedar, birch, labdanum, leather, vanilla, elemi, and immortelle
The first time I smelled Vero Profumo Onda extrait, I accidentally poured it on myself from my precious and tiny sample vial, instead of the tentative dab I was planning. I very nearly literally swooned, I was so overcome by the immediately intoxicating aroma. It was instant perfume lust. Technically a vetiver perfume, to me Onda embodies the sensuality of skin that has been lived in. This is snuggling up to someone wearing a soft sweater, who has smoked a cigar that day; the smoky tang of skin bathed in pine tar soap; the smell of your lover in the morning. To me, this is the kind of perfume that is truly sensuous, because it is visceral and real, and not full of the artifice of sex.
Notes: Vetiver, ginger, mace, and coriander

The way to smolder is to surround oneself with confidence as you lock eyes with the object of your desire. Once that connection rises to action even more confidence is needed. That is why on those nights when I wanted to attract attention I wore a fragrance which contained my favorite notes. So when my object of desire whispered in my ear “You smell good” it was time for things to move to the next phase. Nasreen by Parfums M. Micallef, a bespoke perfume created for the proprietress of Parfumerie Nasreen, was not available to me in my less monogamous days but if it was it would have been a permanent part of my rotation because Martine Micallef uses all of my favorite things for Nasreen. The flirtation begins with an eye-catching rose and exotic saffron as additional come-on. The gourmand heart evokes the figurative devouring with the eyes as gingerbread drizzled with honey makes us lick our lips seductively and a swirl of incense makes us ask for the check. Behind closed doors a beautifully rich patchouli, smooth oud, and sensual musk entwine their notes just as our limbs are doing. So often Mme Micallef’s fragrances seem formal; Nasreen seems to pulse with a heat underneath that formal bearing, yearning to be released.

I read somewhere that Parfumerie Generale’s Coze is a man’s scent; if that’s the case I am hanging with the boys. Coze is sweetly sensuous with a lusty dusting of dark chocolate (the kind you won’t find in a ubiquitous heart-shaped box in the drugstore). The year is 2002. We are at a bar in Paris and the air is thick with the smell of spicy cologne, booze and cigarettes. I order another bourbon. I saw him through a haze of smoke. Our eyes lock as he approaches. "Bonjour Mademoiselle", would you like to dance?. His breath is a puff of vanilla in my ear. His close fitting shirt smells wild and earthy. The glow from the overhead light shimmered on his day old stubble and I touched his face because there was no turning back. It's 3 a.m. and his sweat is redolent of pulsating pepper and patchouli. Drunk with pleasure, we nearly collapse and order espressos – to go.

Draw closes February 14, 2013.
There are some new EU regulations so please include your Country in the comment

I prefer my sex scenes in written form, as the visual is never as good as my imagination!
I am a big Tom Waits fan, so I was hoping he’d win, even though I hadn’t heard the album. The young man who won seems very talented, though, so good for him!
My choices from these fantastic scents would be:
Histoires de Parfums -Moulin Rouges 1889
Spadaro Luxury Fragrances – Noche del Fuego
Parfumerie Nasreen- Nasreen

As for the Grammy’s. I have to admit that I forgot all about them… but I do like Mumford and Sons

My top choices are:
Coze
Nasreen
Noche del Fuego
Great draw and great topic! Thank you.
The Grammys have been on the news this morning, I am rocking round the house.
I would love to start the romantic vibes going and try
Noche del Fuego
Nasreen (love Micallef)
Moulin Rouge
I’m crazy about roses and finding them particularly sexy this February. There is something about this flower that opens up with sensuality and is very warming in the deep, cold winter. This fuels my desire to win 1889 Moulin Rouge by Histoires de Parfums, Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection, or Nasreen. I would be so lucky to win any of these. Thanks for the draw.
Ooops, forgot to mention- I am in the United States. And Brokeback Mountain is the sexiest movie, one of my favorites.
If I am lucky enough to win, I would really love:
1. Nasreen
2. Noche del Fuego
2. Field Notes from Paris
3. Marquis De Sade

Nice to see JZ back too
So my choices
Coze
1740 Marquis de Sade
Charogne
Sexy movie scene brokeback mountain
Thanks for the draw. There are many sexy fragrances out there, but one I cherish in my collection I love is “Lover” a bespoke scent with civet and chocolate notes. Nothing like chocolate after sex.

I love Valentine’s day drawings!! It’s practically “the perfume holiday” in my mind. I was very excited to see Gotye win big at the Grammys. To me, they are the Parfumerie Generale of the music world: their music is high quality, they are slightly eccentric but have a mainstream core that would make anyone love their work, they are creative in their compositions and they won’t just put out crap for the sake of putting out a new product. ALL musicians and perfumers should follow these thoughts!
This is an AMAZING draw. I’m in the US. I’d love to win them ALL!
Michelyn, the instructions say to list ALL that you would want to win, so are we really supposed to list them all??
I’d really love to win the following the most:
1. Coze – because I don’t yet own any PG and love their concepts and quality
2. Nasreen’s fragrance the most. I had NO IDEA that she was coming out with her own fragrance. I’d follow that nose anywhere. Michelyn– you should come out with your own fragrance!
But of course, I’d also be very happy to win all of the others; from HdP I’d choose 1889, and I love Ineke’s Field Notes from Paris and ELdO’s Rossy de Palma. And Noche del Fuego has a lovely bottle, and though I haven’t tried her perfumes, I’ve heard great things about them.
Thanks to everyone for the drawing!!! And happy valentine’s day!
Thanks for the draw!! I would love to win

Thanks to everyone for all the reviews and for all the draws!
Brokeback Mountain is the sexiest scene for me– the bottled-up feelings that emerge as so intensely tender….I cried at that movie, loved the story too but whoa, the visual impact of the movie and emotional impact of Heath Ledger….
Sexy as a scent is hard for me to define, I think of musky, spicy (saffron, pepper, cardamon, cinnamon, cloves), earthy, incense and many vanilla scents as sexy because I would love to smell a thusly-scented man up close, and because they make me feel sensual and strong. Florals don’t really register as ‘sexy’ for me except for some deep spicy sensual roses. Neither does that marine-aqua cologne note.
I would love to win pretty much any of these!
Sparado Noche del Fuego intrigues me most of all I think, or at least it sounds the sexiest to me!
But Nasreen also sounds quite seductive, and I’m glad to learn about it…
and Histoires de Parfums 1740 Marquis de Sade sounds like one I would both love and share! I like birch-y leather with soft vanilla.
Field Notes from Paris sounds quite interesting and I’m having a hard time conjuring the imaginary scent from the notes, but can feel and visualize clearly that morning moment described in the review. Vivid portrait of a feeling.
I have sniffed Coze and Charogne and know I adore them too! Would definitely appreciate them very much.
Happy Valentine’s and post-Grammy days.
I would love to win:
-Histoires de Parfums 1740 Marquis de Sade
-INeKE’s Field Notes from Paris
-Parfumerie Generale’s Coze
Well, I’m not into this kind of music but I agree with Michelyn, Tom Waits is one of the greatests and influential artists in this world, so he deserves the Grammy!
Thank you for the draw!
I would love to win:
-Histoires de Parfums 1740 Marquis de Sade

-Parfumerie Generale’s Coze

Thank you for the draw!
No Grammy for Tom Waits. However, I will continue to enjoy in his songs. Here is the one of my favorite:
http://youtu.be/n9cgtWKI4TU.
Many years ago I thought about Last Tango in Paris as the sexiest
movie, but Brokeback Mountain has something more so I choose this one today.
And our draw: Chargone, then Coze or 1740 Marquis de Sade.
Enjoy in Tom Waits songs and excellent movies mentioned here.
Croatia, Europe.
I have no idea about who was nominee to the Grammy Awards, I’m sorry. Well, I know that there was a song fron the series SMASH and I like that TV series, so I would have loved that the song won, but the Grammy was for a “The Hunger Games” song, if I’m not mistaken.
I’d like to win Moulin Rouge, Marquis de Sade, Noche del Fuego, Eau de Protection or Coze.
I’m from Spain and I don’t find any photo particularly sexy, but I like Brokeback Mountain and The Graduate!
Thanks!
I was rooting for Alabama Shakes! I am in the US and my choices are:
1. Nasreen
2. Spadro
3. 1740 Marquis de Sade
4. Parfumerie Generales Coze
Thanks for the draw!
Can’t say i had any Grammy picks, since I don’t follow awards shows generally. though I do like Tom Waits.
While I would choose the Body Heat scene as the sexiest from the above clips, I think the two greatest scenes in this vein are the boating trip in Les Amants and the telephone scene in Notorious between Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. Apparently, Hitchcock designed it around the Hay Code rule that no kiss could be longer than 3 seconds — so Hitch had them nuzzle and touch lips repeatedly for 2!
I have been wanting a bottle of Coze for ages.
1. Coze
2. runner up: Marquis de Sade
I hoped Jack White’s Blunderbuss would take one out.
I live in New Zealand and would love to welcome PG’s Coze into my arms.
Thank you.
would love to win:
Histoires de Parfums 1740 Marquis de Sade OR
Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection OR
Nasreen
Thanks. I wish Bjork had won a Grammy for her album Biophillia
Thought Adam Levine and Alicia keys were the best duet
Loved the black keys and the return of J T
Sexiest scene from the above was the graduate as it reminded me of my own transgressions in college with an older woman
Sexiest scents for valentines day that I would like to win
Coze-sounds anything but
Nasreen- rose and saffron great combo
Rossy de Palma – rocks
1740 marquis de Sade
Thanks and keep calm and smolder on
Glad that Kelly Clarkson, Gotye and Fun managed to win awards. Am a fan of Maroon 5, CarlyRae Jepsen, and Taylor Swift too but they competing in the same categories.
I live in Singapore.
Would love to win ( in the following order)
1. Coze
2. Nasreen
3. Field Notes from Paris
4. 1740 Marquis de Sade
Thanks.
When Body Heat came out in 1981, I thought Kathleen Turner oozed sex appeal. I remember the scene where the wind chimes ate going crazy, as their attraction heats up. I had never made the connection until now, but I have wind chimes hanging outside my bedroom window, hnnn!
As others have said before me, any of these perfumes would be delightful to win, but mt top choices would be:
1. Nasreen because I believe she wouldn’t have her name on it if it wasn’t good , and
2. Noche del Fuego, because I’ve read so many positive comments and reviews
Thank you.
No opinion on the Grammy’s, but I do love Jack White.
For the movie I would pick Body Heat.
And – wow – lots of great perfumes here, but I would most like to win
-Rossy de Palma
-Field Notes from Paris
-Charogne
Gosh, I have to say I love The Graduate! Anne Baxter puts cougars to shame
There are some very beautiful scents here, and I would love to have any, so I will close my eyes and choose:
1. Charogne
2. Noche Del Fuege
3. Ineke
I always root for Tom Waits! I’m in the US, and I would choose either Moulin Rouges 1889, Field Notes from Paris, Nasreen, or Charogne. Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone.
I find Charogne and 1740 Marquis de Sade the sexiest of those, each with its really opposed character. So I would love to win those, but also Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection, Noche del Fuego, Cozé and Moulin Rouge. All fantastic scents (well, Noche del Fuego I haven’t tried, but I imagine it is).
I must confess I never watch the Oscars, or the Grammys or the Emmys – too much talking!
Thanks for the draw!
I forgot to mention my country- Germany
No Grammy thoughts but the Graduate is my pick in the film montage. I think Ann Baxter was the best thing in that film. I live in the UK and my picks would be Field Notes from Paris, Nasreen and Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection.
Didn’t watch the Grammys this year
My choices would be
Nasreen
Hdp 1740
Noche del fuego
Coze
Field notes
I don’t really follow the Grammys … I find that my opinion on music is WAY different than theirs. LOL
All of these fragrances are unknown my me, but I enjoyed the reviews. You guys make them sound amazing! I’m most interested in:
Charogine
Coze
Field Notes From Paris
Nasreen
Thank you for the generous draww!
I am pretty clueless about the Grammys but I enjoyed this Valentine’s Day post.
The scents that really piqued my interest were:
1889 Moulin Rouge
Field Notes from Paris
Rossy de Palma
Nasreen
I live in the US. Thanks for the draw!
I don’t follow Grammy’s much but that Gotye song is great and Jack White is one of the few men other than my husband I would like to spend a night with.
I would like to try:
1. Field Notes from Paris
2. Nasreen
3. 1889 Moulin Rouge
and I live in the USA
I didn’t get a chance to see the Grammy’s but its always nice to be reminded of Tom Waits. What an amazing performer!
I love reading about sexy perfumes. I second Onda as being just about the sexiest perfume I’ve ever smelled, but admittedly the first time I smelled it, I wasn’t sure if I should ever wear it in public. I got over that though! Lol
I would be overjoyed to win any of the following: Spadaro Noche del Fuego, Nasreen, Rossy de Palma, or Marquis de Sade. Thank you! I live in the US.
I live in the USA and I’ve loved Tom Waits for decades — glad to see he’s a fave for you, too! I’d love to win, well, pretty much any of the options (what a great draw!) but in order, I’d have to say:
Noche del Fuego
Nasreen
Field Notes from Paris
Rossy di Palma
Coze
Charogne
Marquis de Sade 1740
(And even though William Hurt doesn’t do it for me–never has–the scene from “Body Heat” is somethin’ else!)
I would like to:
Nasreen
Field Notes from Paris
Marquis de Sade 1740
I live in Lithuania.
Glad to see how many people likes Tom Waits’ songs! I’m from Russia and I do hope to be lucky in this rad draw! And here is my top list :
1889 Moulin Rouges
Coze
Nasreen
Field Notes from Paris
I didn’t watch much of the grammy’s but chris brown’s snub to frank ocean was poor…
Histoires de Parfums : 1740 Marquis de Sade
Etat Libre D’Orange : Charogne
Spadaro : Noche del Fuego
Parfumerie Generale : 02 Coze
Glad to see that Kelly Clarkson won a Grammy. I always enjoy watching this awards show.
My choices from the great list provided are:
INeKE Field Notes from Paris
Spadaro Noche del Fuego
Parfumerie Nasreen Nasreen
I live in the USA.
We don’t believe in cable or popular music. BUT, my roommates and I all agree that tent sex scene from Brokeback Mountain is soooo hot. LOL. But very tasteful.
The first time I watched it I was too young, but now that I’m “out” I’ve come to appreciate what that contact can be like. And furthermore, how tragically beautiful that entire movie is.
Sorry if that was a bit too much. :O
Histoires de Parfums 1740, ELDO Chargone, or Coze would be my choices.
thanks and happy v-day
I watched some of the Grammys and loved seeing dr John perform again with the black keys
Happy valentines day y’all
Hot for
Coze
Nasreen
Marquis de Sade
Thank you for the draw! Is Malaysia an issue?
My choices if I should be so lucky to be picked will be Field Notes from Paris, Coze or Rossy de Palma.
I’ve not followed the Grammys in ages, somehow music today holds no appeal.
I’m most interested in Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection and Noche del Fuego, have my fingers crossed to win!
I’m glad “Somebody That I Used to Know” won Record of the Year, it has a feel to it that is very of the moment but at the same time still sounds like a classic.
