The Mystery of Musk: Tallulah B2 by Jane Cate A Wing and a Prayer Perfumes *The Perfumed Petticoat*

She is all aflutter looking for her petticoat

Her mother in law to be is coming to visit, you see

and she must be on her best behavior.

Crisp and white she fluffs soft clouds of crinoline (a touch of vanilla)

Showing a daring bit of lace (doesn’t it look like roses and mimosa?)

How pretty!

Soft florals, this is how she wants her wedding to be (she will look so lovely as she alights from the carriage!)

And a trail….Oh so faint of musk (not the dirty kind) of a virgins purity (everyone knows she is)

Travels with her wherever she goes (her family is well thought of in the village you know)

Her Fiance’s suit is black of course (this reminds her of the sharp tang of rosewood she found so interesting from overseas…quite unique!)

And the fresh oranges that were served at breakfast (not on everyone’s table you can be assured!)

The bridal table centerpiece will be a medley of citrus leaves and flowers (all the way from Italy no less!)

Oh yes, this will be a wedding to remember! The whole village will see the spectacle! Such a handsome groom! Such a pretty Bride! Such a future they will have blessed as they are they in such purity!

Her head fairly spins at the thought as she starches her petticoat, for her Mother in Law to be is coming for tea, you see, and she must be on her best behavior!

Tallulah B2 is a fragrance that one would not immediately associate with the musk category. Rather its an exploration of using vegetal musk, as an underpinning of a natural scent and is an inherent  part of its structure; it may be hidden from view, but its essential to its compostion. Jane Cate uses botanical musk and vanilla to gently allow the floral heart of powdery mimosa and “white” roses  to  be the star performer. Citrus and rosewood float the perfume without sharpening or acidifying the florals. Overall a pleasing bright floating floral  with a perfumed petticoat of the most delicate of “musk”, peaking through.

    I am CHARMED !
Sounds very nearly a 'period piece'- in the very best way.
    You winsome lass 😉

  • Petticoat, what a quaint way of relating to this creation.  What a contrast from the previous musk interpretations!  These variations really goes to show that given the same assignment each of our natural perfumers bring in a piece of themselves, their history, and passion to create such amazing and personal pieces.

Monica:  Thank you for the very interesting and positive review of my Tallulah B2 perfume for the Mystery of Musk Project .  I want to assure people, that Tallulah B2 is not so goody goody as depicted, she can be a little naughty if the situation calls her to be.  I found the experience of working with biotanical musk to be quite interesting, truly a learning experience and creating Tallulah B2 was truly a labor of love. So thank you for your very kind review.
    Warm Regards, Jane Cate
