The Garden of Michel and Edmond Roudnitska: A Winter’s Tale

The garden that perfumer Edmond Roudnitska created in Cabris,France and that his son ethical perfumer and multi sensorialist Michel Roudnitska continues to maintain was created in 1947 from stony, arid land.

From the age of ten, Michel helped tend the garden with his father and  their perfumes  were composed of many of the garden's bounty. In this  exclusive pictorial, we see the garden in winter, an unearthly beauty that tells its own tale.

  • What a wonderful gift! Thank you so much Michel for sharing something so personal and utterly breathtaking with us!

    The idea that something so beautiful was made from hostile arid land shows that anything, with a little love, a lot of work and some hope can flourish!

    Even in this coldest and most hostile of seasons, your garden still continues to charm and captivate. Mimosa under Snow and the Japanese Gardens are my personal favorites! I love the picture of the Shrine as well!

    God Bless…

  • Beautiful pictures! Thank you!

    Snow seems to purify everything it touches and bring new life. Snowed places are so peaceful…

    I wished it snowed where I live but that would be a miracle.

    These photographs are rare and precious to me.
    A gift without equal.

    Dylan Thomas felt it too- as we all do :

    Light breaks where no sun shines;
    Where no sea runs, the waters of the heart
    Push in their tides;
    And, broken ghosts with glow-worms in their heads,
    The things of light
    File through the flesh where no flesh decks the bones.

    Light breaks on secret lots,
    On tips of thought where thoughts smell in the rain;
    When logics dies,
    The secret of the soil grows through the eye,
    And blood jumps in the sun;

    Thank you, Michel and CFB .
