The Fragrance Kitchen (TFK) Orion (Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah) 2017 + Navigating Kuwait’s Stars Draw

HRH Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah

In March of 2016, Sr Contributor Hernando Courtight was on his way to work when he saw a huge crowd milling outside of Bergdorf Goodman in New York City. Who were they waiting for? Was it a well- known celebrity or designer? Actually it was a perfumer, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who is a member of the Royal family in Kuwait making his U.S debut for his brand The Fragrance Kitchen. His love of fragrance began as a young boy when his grandmother taught him how to mix and create his own scents using precious Middle Eastern ingredients such as Oud, Agarwood and Taif Rose.

The  Fragrance Kitchen

As a young adult, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah loved fashion and attended many runway shows including Tom Ford. He was stopped by many fashionistas who asked him what scent he was wearing. They were his own custom-blends and at the time not for sale.  So many fragrance devotees begged him to sell them his creations that The Fragrance Kitchen (TFK) was founded in 2012. His Royal Highness named his brand The Fragrance Kitchen, because just like the kitchen from his memories, he mixes perfume ingredients and formulas that have been passed on from generation to generation. All TFK perfumes contain 20 percent and more pure perfume.

Today we have a very special review of the new perfume Orion a 2017 release from the TFK for Avery Gallery collection of six perfumes which are only available by special order at Avery in Neiman Marcus, Beverly Hills. Sebastian Jara of the YouTube Channel Smelling Great and founder of a popular Facebook Group reviews the new star in the collection.

Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, perfumer for The Fragrance Kitchen

In HRH’s words:

“I become lost in the blue of your eyes. It’s midnight and, through you, I gaze at the infinity of the cosmos. The lights of a deep sky reach me among the dust of the stars. Safe in your arms and beneath the twinkling of Orion, I travel and become lost in the blue of your eyes. We are unique, we are multiple. We are at the centre and at the same time so far from everything. Inseparable and broken, we seek the harmony of our two distant souls, navigating beneath the sails of a blue stellar ship.

Oriental Ambery Top: Rasberry, Saffron Middle: Cistus, Labdanum, Rose Base: Cedarwood, Vanilla, Sandalwood

  • What I enjoyed the most about Sebastian’s review was that he noted the fragrance does change with body temperature. I think this is very exciting and indeed my curiosity is aroused.

  • I enjoyed everything about Sebastian’s review.
And Never heard of this house, but It d be great to try this.
    Thanks

  • I love the way Sebastian thoroughly describes every fragrance he reviews. I also like how he reviews many different types of fragrances such as niche, designer, & indie. Additionally, I enjoy it when he reviews houses that I’ve never heard about such as this one.

  • I really enjoy musk and Sebastian has been on a musk kick lately and I like how excited he was about the musky dry down of Orion. I have never heard of this house, and I love how many new houses/brands Sebastian introduces to his viewers. I would love to try Orion or A Rose With A View. I am in Tennessee.

  • I’ve been looking for an oriental musk. It sounds like I would love this one. Thanks for the giveaway. I’m in Idaho.

I didn’t know Sebastian has roots in Middle East. The Fragrance Kitchen background story is kind of Amouage which was started by a member of royal family and tried to blend western expertise in fragrance with eastern tradition. Looking at the notes of Orion as mentioned by Sebastian, top notes look modern in structure, heart notes feel classic in structure, and the base notes again look modern in structure. I have not tried anything yet from The Fragrance Kitchen. thanks for the draw. I am in US.

As always, loved Sebastian’s review…so understated and down-to-earth. Orion sounds great and TFK really appeals me. I haven’t had the opportunity to try any yet but the story behind the house is interesting. I am in the US.

I am glad Seb was able to introduce a new line that most of us have not heard of before. The bottles look very interesting and unique as does the creative makeup of the fragrances in tgis line. I hope to try some Orion as well as The Man From Ipanema. From Maryland.

  • Great job on the video- the production was excellent! I’m definitely loving the description of the labdanum and rose in heart of the fragrance. Until recently I have been rose-averse, but the combination of rose and labdanum has become a new favorite, so I’d love to add this to my collection.
    I’m in Oregon.

  • Once again another stellar review from Sebastian. I remember reading an article about The Fragrance Kitchen on Fragrantia a year, or so ago. Orion sound delicious. I am in the US.

  • Sebastian’s review of this house and fragrance in particular where confirmation enough that I needed to get my nose on The Fragrance Kitchen’s line of fragrances! I love how Sebastian described his entire experience with the fragrance up to walking up to the scent still being on him. I have yet to try any from the line personally, but they have caught my eye on numerous occasions on Neman Marcus’s website! This fragrance, Orion, in particular sounds absolutely LOVELY! Thank you so much for the opportunity. I live in Philadelphia, PA.

  • I was in Bergdorf last year and they have a big space for The Fragrance Kitchen. My wife bought A rose with a view. It’s fantastic!! I really like this brand and I enjoy the video of Orion. I think Sebastian really explains the progression of the fragrance. I need to watch his video on labdanum lol
    Thanks for the chance

  • Sebastian talks about a lot of fragrances but I can tell when he is really excited about one. I like that he related to this fragrance through his own middle eastern background. I have never smelled anything from this line but am very eager to. I really love this particular bottle design also. Thank you,
