Shay and Blue Light Sprays Voulez Vous, Lily La Luxe, 88 Pineapples and Mandarine Reviews +Lighten Up Draw

via @domdevetta

I love writing about perfume. It is such a challenge to try to distill into a few inadequate words the ethereal, ephemeral elements of fragrance that evoke so many physical sensations, emotions and memories. On a good day, text painting, reminiscing and story telling can make a perfume come to life on the page. Today, I am excited to offer my written and artistic impressions of the four new Shay and Blue Light Sprays Voulez Vous, Lily La Luxe, 88 Pineapples and  Mandarine.

Shay and Blue Light sprays Voulez Vous by @ Gail Gross

Shay and Blue Light Sprays Voulez Vous wakes me up with the vivid aroma of dark roasted coffee, a fragrant cup of espresso laced with citrus, smoky vanilla and a touch of sweet caramel. Within moments Voulez Vous steams with the intense rich floral warmth of jasmine, revealing undertones of buttered tea, nuances of honeyed orange blossom and café latte. Voulez Vous might be just what you crave – your preferred and much needed morning "cuppa"!  Notes: Espresso, white flowers and vanilla bean.

Lily La Luxe by @ Gail Gross

Cool, wet, spring scents define Shay and Blue Light Sprays Lily La Luxe. The delicate, fragile oily green floral notes of England's native bluebells (a fresher, breezier hyacinth) are carefully and discreetly paired with the complimentary champaca effects of the waxen white Madonna lily. With Lily La Luxe, Shay and Blue has created a subtle and exquisite bouquet of blooming lilies floating over a suggestion of Australian sandalwood. Notes: French lily, bluebell and sandalwood.

Shay and Blue Light Sprays 88 pineapple by @Gail Gross

Shay and Blue Light Sprays 88 Pineapples bursts open, a tart juicy pineapple, fortified with savory sea salt. Within moments the fruity crunch morphs into memories of popcorn and new clothing, recalling the smells of long ago "department stores", places where one could buy just about anything, from a caramel corn to the most luxurious perfumes. Over a period of several hours, the juicy pineapple and crunchy salted popcorn dry down and mingle with rich balsamic resins and fresh cut cedar wood. Notes: Pineapple, sea salt and cedar wood.

Mandarine by Gail Gross ©

Shay and Blue Light Sprays Mandarine is zesty and mouthwatering, saturated with an original mandarin accord, sparkling with soft neroli and what I sense as the dry, floral accents of black and possibly pink peppercorns.  Pithy sweet back-notes of pomelo lend Shay and Blue Mandarine an uplifting olfactory pucker that melds, over time, into a breath of golden amber suffused with warm woods. Notes: Mandarin, pomelo and amber woods.

Shay and Blue creative director Dom De Vetta and perfumer Julie Massé of Mane have designed and created each 10 ml Light Scent Spray Eau de Toilette to be fresh, easy to handle and travel friendly. Happily these four unique fragrances, hand crafted in England from real fruit, flowers, spices and essential oils are being offered at prices that won't break the bank, making them perfect for holiday gifts or personal treats.  I find Shay and Blue Light Scent Sprays to be tenacious and long lasting, created with all the depth and attention to detail that I've come to expect of House Shay and Blue!

Disclaimer:  I would like to thank Dom De Vetta for the set of four lovely Light Scent Sprays. My opinions are my own.

  • I enjoy reading the articles so much and now Gail has confirmed my suspicions that writing about perfume can be a challenge. I could never adequately describe even my favorite fragrance. Well done. Even a note I don’t care for (Bluebells) has me interested enough to try. Volulez Vous is the one I’m most interested in, especially with the undertones of buttered tea. I love that pineapple is having a “moment”. My favorite of this line is the Salted Caramel, especially at this time of year. Thanks for the chance!! USA.
