Sarah Horowitz Parfums is one of the most beloved artisan perfume lines, with cult favorite Perfect Veil garnering endless mentions in magazines as the ultimate skin scent as well as her Biographies-Scent of Self now sold on QVC. Sarah Horowitz-Thran got her start creating custom perfumes, first for Essence Boutique in Boston and later for her own clients, and an exclusive limited edition offering on her website called Le Banque de Parfums approximates this service affordably. Banque des Parfums fragrances are created monthly in finite quantities and are only available directly from the perfume house, not from retailers

Rose Gold is the first fragrance of the New Year and is homage to THE woman in the room. One who knows where she’s headed and is aware that she doesn’t need a man to help her get there. She’s been tried, she’s been tested, and she’s always remained true to herself.

The fragrance bursts open with a bright and beautiful top note of blood orange that soon develops into a bouquet of rose and gardenia, accented by the soft spice of carnation. Vanilla, amber, and musk provide a sensual base that carries you into the night and continues to buoy your confidence the next morning. I love the opening and I’m a sucker for rose scents that are blended with musk and spice. Sarah had the IT woman in mind when she created this, but I’ve worn it many times and I’ve received tons of compliments; Rose Gold works beautifully on a man as well. Longevity is 8 hours plus and the sillage is almost like a symphony in itself meaning the opening projects greatly but as it dries down it becomes a soft, sensual whisper.

Thrones & Thorns by The Nosey Artist

Rose Gold and red wine,

What a pleasure to have known you for this short time

I got kissed by your thorns but it was all pleasure,

The story of my life is now a love letter

You…

Got it together,

Got it all figured out

You are striving for better,

No time to sit around

Your Miss everything,

And you work for everything

You don’t run from nothing,

But commitment and a wedding ring

You want to feel alive,

You dare to take the dive

Amongst the sharks,

No fear you know you will survive

Stay on course and do not be lead astray,

Learn to read between the lines and you can turn another page

Miss Rose Gold such an old soul,

You’re the Marilyn Monroe of our generation

Miss Rose Gold such an old soul,

Who could ever hold you back from your destination?

Rose Gold and red wine,

What a pleasure to have known you for this short time

I got pricked by your thorns but it was all pleasure

The story of my life is now a love letter…

Notes: blood orange, rose, gardenia, carnation, musk, vanilla, and amber.

  • Blood orange seems to be having a moment. I appreciated reading about the experience of wearing Rose Gold. The musk and spice base sounds promising for a man to wear as well. Thanks for the draw (US).

  • What I love is the down-to-earth photo of Sarah herself; unlike the other photos, there’s a woman with a homespun yet warm sense of style! I haven’t tried any of her fragrances before, I live in NYC. Thanks so much.

  • Rose Gold sounds amazing and has me intrigued because it sounds like it’s motto should be…..I am woman, hear me roar! I love Perfect Veil, Coconut Milk, and Passion (in QVC kit), so I know that this will be absolutely amazing!! I live in the US and thanks for the draw!

  • Love the notes in this fragrance! Rose, gardenia and carnation are 3 of my favorite florals. I follow Sarah Horowitz fragrances on Facebook but I’ve never gotten the chance to smell any of her perfumes. I love the idea that she makes a limited edition fragrances in small batches that aren’t part of her regular line.
    I live in the U.S.

  • This review married salient points like the sillage, tenacity, and gender-flexibility of this fragrance with poetry. Designated the perfect muse for a perfume is my favorite came to play, and Coco Rocha is so inspiring! My favorite Sarah Horowitz Parfums fragrance of all time would have to be Perfect Twilght – it’s cool, lush, a little melancholy, and evocative of Spring, my favorite season.

  • The notes in this fragrance are lovely. I especially enjoy the first picture with the thorns.

I like how the rap contrasts the elegant beauty of a rose with its more prickly features. Nobody’s completely perfect 🙂

  • I have to admit that I couldn’t help trying to rap the Nosey Artist’s prose to the song red red wine, but it didn’t work very well. I think Nosey Artist’s rap really conveys the strength of this fragrance – it sounds like something a queen would wear. I’d love to give this one a go. I’ve never had the opportunity to try on of Sarah’s perfumes, but they sound lovely. Thanks for the draw, I’m in the US.

  • I haven’t tried any Sarah Horowitz’ perfumes, but this sounds bewitching. Beautiful images and I’m in love with Coco’s red Zac Posen dress! Loved the original rap, too – a modern poem, that captures the spirit perfectly. Count me in for the draw, please 🙂

  • I have learned Sarah made rose gold for a working woman (reminds me when American brands first started targeting women with their perfumes). Not surprisingly it is unisex and wearable by me as well. My fav. Sarah creation may be Perfect Kiss due to notes such as sandalwood. thanks a lot for the wonderful draw. I am in the US

  • Reading the prose I think of all the workers who get pricked gathering the roses to make perfume for our pleasure. Love the roses. Thank you to the people picking those roses for us. I recently bought my first rose fragrance and I’m enchanted. Ready for more. Thanks.

  • Parfummaniac says:

Alas from the Netherlands, but I would love to comment. Love the quotes and poems,so beautiful in combination with the roses. Sarah stay true to yourself, you made a great new fragrance!

  • I love rose, and this sounds like an intriguing one! Love the rap and the photos, but I haven’t tried anything from Sarah Horowitz-Thran before. I am in the US, thanks!

  • I got pricked by your thorns but it was all pleasure

The story of my life is now a love letter… Nosey this is genius… Great review in such a new and unique way. A couple of my favorites from Sarah are.. Receive and Sea Glass. This one could most certainly be there as well. Congratulations Sarah on such great work. I am in the US..

  • One sentence is all it took to make me extremely intrigued by Rose Gold and coveting it: “One who knows where she’s headed and is aware that she doesn’t need a man to help her get there.” I want to be THIS woman! I think we all want to be this woman!

I’ve been reading and hearing a lot about Sarah Horowitz Perfumes. This is on my short list of perfumes to try! I love the photos of Coco Rocha. She captures the Rose Gold woman very beautifully!

I love Nosey’s prose, especially these two lines:

“I got pricked by your thorns but it was all pleasure

The story of my life is now a love letter… ”

The Rose Gold woman is the type of woman I desire to be! I hope I can embody her when I wear this fragrance.

I live in the USA. Thank you for the draw!

  • I think the Coco Rocha photo is the perfect representation for the words used here to describe Rose Gold. Sarah’s Bliss was one of my first big perfume loves years ago when I was making my entrance into the perfume world. I would love to see how she interprets Rose Gold. I smelled the Kors one, but her list of ingredients is quite different. USA. Thanks for the draw.

  • The Nosey Artist says:

I just wanted to thank every one for their comments and support I, so happy to see you all enjoyed the review and special thanks to Sarah for giving me the opportunity to review Rose Gold

  • The photo of Coco Rocha in the Zac Posen gown is gorgeous – such a splendid colour!

I’m still looking for my ‘perfect’ rose fragrance and this one sounds like a real contender: I love carnation and am also ‘a sucker for rose scents that are blended with musk and spice’. Kudos to The Nosey Artist for the rap – what a fun an interesting paring of perfume and poetry. I particularly liked the line: ‘I got kissed by your thorns but it was all pleasure, / The story of my life is now a love letter’. Sweet and sharp so often go together…

I’m in the US – thank you for the review and the draw!

  • Rose Gold sounds gorgeous, I can’t resist a spicy rose and carnations are also a favorite note. As to The Nosey Artist’s rap, I know I’m late to the party but I really like the line “I got pricked by your thorns but it was all pleasure
The story of my life is now a love letter…”
My favorite Sarah Horowitz perfume is Perfect Veil, especially in the summer. Thanks for another great review and draw! I’m in the US.

  • I love Sarah Horowitz perfect coconut that I read about on Cafluerbon
The Nosey Artist but you don’t run from nothing but a comittment amd a ring really struck me because my ex fiancée ran off with another girl
    Luckily I met someone better
    I live in Canada

  • I’m a sucker for a spicy rose, too, so thank you to The Nosey Artist for sharing your experience with Rose Gold. And thanks for the reminder to have “no fear you know will stay alive.” Words to remember.

I do not have a favorite Sarah Horowitz Parfums fragrance yet, but here’s hoping this could be the one, perhaps a rose divine as Coco Rocha.

  • I enjoy The Nosey Artist’s reviews and his prose always adds a new dimension to the fragrances. This original rap for Rose Gold helped me picture the exact IT woman that I know. I have not yet had the pleasure of wearing a Sarah Horowitz Parfums fragrance.

  • Huge thank you to The Nosey Artist, and to all your beautiful comments! Truly I can not express what it feels like to read your fragrance transcribed to poetry – it is such a gift. And thank you as always Michelyn for the opportunity to share what I love here. It always amazes me that we have all found each other, the olfactory obsessed. The internet does many things – but for this one, I am so grateful. I hope you all love it as I do!
