Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty Moves to 2nd floor (and it’s a Really Big Deal!) + Hotel Couture Draw

Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty©

On Tuesday, May 22nd, Saks Fifth Avenue's Flagship Store unveiled its newly redesigned Beauty Department from the first to the second floor, a bold move. Saks social media refers to this as “the future of beauty on 2” and “beauty 2.0.” I made a point to stop in and experience Saks Fifth Avenue NYC on May 26th. Coming off the escalator or elevator you will be greeted by a dedicated Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty concierge desk staffed by beauty experts to assist you on their 120+ brands. Serious…120.

Saks Fifth Avenue Flagship Store

There is wonderful natural light that shines through which is in stark contrast to the prior space (and all of the other major department stores beauty spaces for that matter). The original windows facing Fifth Avenue on 49th and 50th Street with views of Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Plaza have all been restored. The floor space of Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty is 32,000-square-feet, making it 40% larger than the former location. There are still a few finishing touches, like the Christian Dior boutique which has not opened (at the time of Hernando’s Visit).

The number of exclusive fragrances that Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty lined up for their grand unveiling: EB Florals new 'Future Bloom', Ex Nihilo's 'Nocturama', Bottega Veneta's four: 'Amba', 'Incenso', 'Legno', and 'Rosa,' which only 36 flacons were made in total  (9 of each @ $600 a bottle), and the Burberry Bespoke Collection.

ÇaFleureBon might have been the first fragrance site to write about EB Florals in 2015 and at Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty they have a beautiful space where you can buy fragrances, candles, and freshly cut flowers arrangements, which are all hand-tied and revolve around the composition of the fragrances and their seasonal availability. This is excellence on the Avenue.

Guerlain L'Atelier De Personnalisation©

For sheer wow factor, the Guerlain Parfumeur boutique has it all. If experiencing 110 iconic scents wasn't enough, one can have a custom perfume created through a digital consultation and then have the bottle engraved.

Uber hot Ex Nihilo, new to Saks, has their Osmologue set up for creating demi bespoke fragrances.

The Artisan collection at Saks NYC©

The “Artisan” collection at Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty (their name) features Roja Parfums, Mancera, Histories de Parfums, Montale, Ormonde Jayne and Amouage. Most of these brands are very familiar to our readers! The dedicated space is right across from Dior and EB Florals

The L’Artisan Parfumeur and Penhaligon’s presentations are both impressive.

Great to have them back in NYC at a specialty store!

Chanel boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue NYC

Of Note at Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty: Gucci’s first new beauty concept store Stateside. The Chanel boutique is larger than both Hernando’s  (and Michelyn’s) first NYC apartments and is a treat for CHANEL-O-PHILES.

Also new to the USA and at Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty is Hotel Couture, which features five scents from master perfumers, including natural perfumer and award winning Tanja Bochnig of April Aromatics (who Sr. Editor Ida Meister introduced to our readers in 2011).This home, scent, bath and body collection was inspired by five select landmark hotels throughout the world.

Most of the makeup and skincare brands will be providing a selection of complimentary services, known as “Beautiful Discoveries” which include mini facials, eye treatments, hand massages, makeup and skincare coaching, and more.

Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty on 2 has also created a dedicated event space where brands can hold beauty and wellness events as well as Masterclasses, and host public appearances.

Art Meets Art at Saks NYC

Conversing with a few SAs, walking the floor, and taking notes and photos was all I was able to accomplish this visit. Michelyn filled in a few brands I missed but will return to next month. In case you are wondering what now occupies the first floor, its handbags, and leather goods. And, if you are feeling guilty after you've pushed your credit card at Saks Fifth Avenue NYC Beauty to its limit, you can go next door to St. Patrick's -Hernando

Saks Fifth Avenue's New York Flagship Store is located at 611 Fifth Avenue at 50th Street. Store Hours:  Monday through Saturday 10 am. to 8:30 pm. and Sunday 11 am. to 7 pm.

  • Whoah! How exciting!!! I would definitely visit the Serge Lutens and House of Sillage counters♡ Oh, also Ex Nihilo, Roja Dove, Jason Wu, Frédéric Malle, Annick Goutal, etc, etc, etc LOL ;*) There are many brands listed that are new to me, so add those to my list. Now, I need a much needed road trip. Thanks for the draw….in the USA.

  • Quite the incentive for a NYC visit! Looks like setting aside a couple of hours will be needed.
    Thanks for the heads up.

Do not enter me in the draw. I just wanted to mention that I visited Saks 5th Avenue today and I was very impressed with the new Beauty Department on the second floor. It is very well organized, lighted, extremely neat and sophisticated. The sales associates are very kind and helpful. It is worth to visit it. Be ready to spend time there if you really want to enjoy it.

Holy Cow…..a beauty and fragrance emporium!! This is so awesome and I plan to visit the next time I am in NYC. I’m happy to see Roja Dove, Amouage, Art Meets Art, Guerlain, Hermes, Floraïku, and too many others to name. Thanks so much for the draw and I live in the US! 🙂

  • This looks amazing! I actually remember visiting Saks beauty area on the first floor years ago and not being blown away, but this looks like they’ve really expanded their offering. Thanks for the tour.

  • I must go to NYC and experience Saks new beauty. There is so much there I would plan a vacation.
The bespoke Burberry and Gucci please
    Hotel couture sounds very interesting

What a fabulous adventure a trip to Saks would be! It’s not on the near horizon for me but I’m adding to my bucket list. 🙂 I am most interested in Roja Dove, Sisley, and Cire Trudon. I live in the US.

  • If I would live in NYC, I would definitely visit there. Everything sounds wonderfully! Thank you for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • A lot of wonderful things, too bad i dont live in NYC 🙂 As for the brands i would definitely visit Floraiku, House of Sillage and Frederic Malle. Thanks for the draw, i live in EU.

  • I am most excited about Penhaligon’s fragrances. I have never visited one of their boutiques. They just opened one at the Paramus Mall in NJ and I haven’t gotten a chance to go there yet. There are so many scents I want to try out of theirs!
    I live in the US.

I think i visited Saks the last time I went to New York and i remembered it was at the basement/ ground floor. But I don’t remember seeing this much brands. I will certainly dropped in the next time I visit New York.

I do not wish to enter the giveaway. Lets others have this chance 🙂

PS. I’m really curious about this customisation at the Guerlain counter. Do they mix perfumes for you (which sounds unlikely) or is it like a personal consultation?

  • This looks so light and airy!
I love the look of the L’Artisan counter; greenery always make me happy and relaxed.
And, I would enjoy visiting a full Chanel counter, and By Kilian.
I live in the US, but, unfortunately for me, I do not have any current plans to visit Saks Fifth Avenue.

  • I am excited about the April Aromatics perfume line in the states. I also would be at By Killian and Guerlain. I hope that I could travel to NYC but have no plans to do it in the near future. Thank you for the glimpse of a beautiful l store and the chance of a draw. I do live in the US.

  • oh my gosh – I would get totally lost in there! I don’t know, there are so many things to get excited about – all the lines that aren’t in every department store in my little mall in seattle! probably the Guerlain L’Atelier de Personnalisation, but I liked Bottega Vanetta’s first scent, and I haven’t seen those others before… I have not been to NYC more than twice (except for transitting airports) and of course I would love to visit Saks, but it does look lovely! I do live in the US, albeit on the other side of the country. thank you for thinking of us!!

  • I am thrilled to have the April Aromatics line in New York and cannot wait to experience the new beautiful creations by Tanja Bochnig! Each of her blends, and there are many, that I use has it’s own unique heavenly experience!

  • I am excited about the April Aromatics perfume line- never tested any natural perfume.
By Kilian corner is always beatiful but I am not fun of that perfume.
    Thanks for this draw.

Its wonderful to see so many brands exhibited in one place. I’m jealous as I don’t live near NYC and do not plan to visit in the foreseeable future. For those who are there, wow. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the USA

  • jeremyn87 says:

The Guerlain interests me most. Aside from liking nearly everything I’ve tried from them, the idea of customized fragrances is really cool. Especially if the algorithm does it for you and makes it balanced.
I’m in Chicago IL, so I can’t visit that Saks in NYC. Maybe the one here will do something similar

  • doveskylark says:

I love the idea of the exclusives, especially the Botegga Venetas. It just makes visiting that much more glamorous. I most certainly will visit on my next visit to New York. I’m very intrigued by Floraïku; anything related to Japanese culture interests me.
    I live in the USA.

  • Looks great. Would like to visit one day. So many fragrance that I would visit. You can say all of them but Frederic Malle, House Of Sillage, l’artisan, Roja, Kilian floraiku. Etc. thanks for the draw
