If you are a  Çafleurebon  reader you know Rouge Bunny Rouge primarily for  our perfume reviews (Allegria, Muse,Cynefin, Embers, Sylvan, Tenera, Tundra, Arcadia, Sillhoute ). You may not know that Creative Director Alexandra de Montfort  started her company with a beauty collection, and just as in the fragrances,  her passion shows in the quality and whimsical names and packaging of the makeup.

I’ve been a devotee of the liquid eyeliner/porcelain skin/red lipss for decades, as it’s a beguiling look adopted by Old Hollywood celebs  (think Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe) and modern day superstars like  Dita Von Teese  and Gwen Stefani). Always classic and chic, and is easily updated with of-the-moment color.  Rouge Bunny Rouge has a collection for Spring 2015  “Midheaven Neon" that is a foolproof way to create this look at any age in a few easy steps.

It begins with Perfecting Primer Genesis ($59); I’m not a huge fan of primers but this one goes on in a thin, smooth layer that doesn’t cake under foundation. It feels finer than the typical primer and creates a great blank canvas. Don’t be alarmed when applying if you initially see a slight greyish tint– it fades momentarily.

Photos and Swatches: Sketches on Water Tinted Moisturizer in Sequoia/Milk Aquarelle Foundation in Almond Milk Parfait

Rouge Bunny Rouge offers  three different types of foundation in the Midheaven Neon range; the first is Sketches on Water Tinted Moisturizer ($55), which is available in three shades, Adansonia, Quercus, and Sequoia. All three versions are fairly neutral and run slightly light, so if you are very tan, olive or dark complected these will most likely not work for you. (If you are cool toned or warm toned fair- medium tan one may suit you).  Sketches on Water Sequoia blends nicely with my complexion and performs exactly the way you would expect from a tinted moisturizer, smoothing imperfections but light coverage. My favorite is the Liquid Foundation Milk Aquarelle.  It is avaiable in five shades; I used Almond Milk Parfait, described as a pale, yellow-toned beige, and it was a good match (for comparison’s sake, I’m an NC20 in the MAC system, and Cashew Milk which is the darkest in the range is spot on for Michelyn who is a NC40-42 in the MAC system). I have not tried The Time Defying Foundation ($55) which offers a full coverage and four shades, (For reference Michelyn wears the deepest shade Barley Cream which is described as a medium honeyed beige and it is a tad light for summer, but perfect for winter and early spring).

A medium coverage liquid, Milk Aquarelle is the best I’ve seen in ages, banishing imperfections while providing a luminous  coverage.  A little bit goes a long way, so start with a couple of drops and blends outward. For best results use a foundation brush, Rouge Bunny Rouge has an excellent Foundation Brush, with slightly tapered top, made of their patented Tecalon fibres which doesn’t absorb the foundation like natural fiber brushes often do.  Although Milk Aquarelle is highly pigmented, it is not opaque  and never cakes so you don’t look the slightest bit overly made up. There is no unwanted shine, and the foundation doesn’t settle in fine lines, meaning it can stand proud up against the high end department store foundations out there. ($60/9.98 fl oz)

Photos and Swatches of Long Lasting Matte Eyeshadow in Blackpepper Jay/Papyrus Canary

Rouge Bunny Rouge Long Lasting Matte Eye Shadow  Papyrus Canary (pale golden beige) and Blackpepper Jay (a sooty medium deep grey) are matte without looking flat. They glide on the eye, with no fall out, highly pigmented, feel creamy and wonderfully blendable (the latter being critical in this case because they’re so high-contrast). I recommend using a light hand if you want  a subtle day look, but smoky eye lovers will love them for drama. Purchased separately they are $25 each, but we both recommend that you buy the Rouge Bunny Rouge Eyeshadow Duo Keeper ($15) and  theMatte  Eyeshadow Refills ($19 each) so that you can pop different colors in and out…also great for travel.

SatinEyeliner rouge bunny rouge roan

Nocturnal Ink Satin Eyeliner in Blue Roan

Nocturnal Ink Satin Eyeliner in Blue Roan ($32) was another standout of this collection for me. I find marker style eyeliners are the easiest to apply with a steady hand, and this one is super-fine and can be worn to subtly rim the upper lashes or make a bold statement with a sex goddess cat eye. The color of this product is midnight blue with lapis undertones. We suggest you wear this color instead of black if you have brown eyes as it really pops.

Swatch Rouge Bunny Rouge Sheer Lipstick Succulence of Dew in Relish of Heaven

Rouge Bunny Rouge tops off the look with its superior Sheer Lipstick Succulence of Dew ($29) in Relish of Heaven. This lipstick is a bright clear red (not too blue nor orange)  that  never screams RED due to its lovely sheerness. Relishes of Heaven is a great choice for those who want to try bold color without committing all the way. All the Succulence of Dew lipsticks and are hydrating and  Jasmine Weighted Air, is Michelyn's new go to fuschia (featured on the model in the Spring ad).

  • Oh wow, how to choose. I am very happy to learn about this line and like it on FB. It’s a tough choice between the eyeshadow and the lipstick. I guess I would like to try the lipstick. I really need a good one! Thanks so much, I am in the US.

I would love to win the Sheer Lipstick Succulence of Dew in Relish of Heaven. Besides perfume, lipstick is my beauty must-have. Nothing can reframe your day better than a spritz of perfume and a swipe of lipstick…it can re-invent or re-affirm, depending on your state of mind.

  • Scentella says:

The lipstick. Cannot live without a clay-based face mask (Cattier’s green clay mask).

  • Wow! Beautiful makeup products. I liked Rouge Bunny Rouge on Facebook. My winning choice would be Rouge Bunny Rouge Eyeshadow Duo Keeper. When I put on my face makeup, I always start with the foundation, so I think the most important beauty product to me is the foundation.
    I live in Europe.

  • I can not live without eye mascara and lipstick. I need both everyday! I would like to win the Eyeshadow Duo . I follow Rouge Bunny Rouge on Instagram and Facebook. I’m in EU.

  • It is difficult to find Rouge Bunny Rouge in the U.S. And I have heard so many great things about the quality of the line. I need lipstick and eyebrow pencil and even if I am just dashing to the grocery store those are my must haves.i also bought Allegria perfume and love it
Thank you for the opportunity and I choose relishes of heaven. A great red is hard to find

  • I’d feel lost without having moisturized lips, so I’m going to have to say it’s my humble lip balm that I can’t do without!! In the evening, eye liner is a MUST have, so for the draw, I’d love the Blue Roan eye liner. I just used up a dark blue eyeliner!! It’s a FAB color for those with hazel eyes, too, and I’ve been really wanting to try Rouge Bunny Rouge makeup. I find good makeup hard to buy without seeing it in person, so I haven’t tried anything from the line yet, as I live in such a rural area.

  • I’d love to try the Nocturnal Ink Satin Eyeliner. As I get older, I find that my eyes need more emphasis (they take attention away from the wrinkles!) so I would say my Lancome kohl pencil is my most needed product, with a close runner-up an Anastasia Brow Pen. I’m in the US, and Rouge Bunny Rouge does need to distribute more widely! Thanks for the draw.

I would like to win Perfecting Primer Genesis.

I cannot leave without a bright coloured lipstick.

Thanks for the chance, I’m in Canada.

  • FearsMice says:

I love red lipstick but it’s hard to find one that doesn’t lean too blue on me, so I’d like to give Relish of Heaven a try. Mascara is my can’t-do-without product, though — I just don’t look like I’m awake if I’m not wearing any. Thank you for the draw.

  • I would love to win the Relish of Heaven sheer lipstick — it’s so rare to find a true red.
The one product I can’t live without is brow powder.
Writing from Canada. Thanks for the draw opportunity.

  • I can’t live without my black eyeliner. My choice would be Nocturnal Ink Satin eyeliner in Blue Roan.
    Thanks for the draw.
    I am in the US.

  • rodelinda says:

I have dry skin, so Cerave in the tub is my holy grail beauty product. My foundation doesn’t look right without it.

I’m very pale with blue eyes and pink undertones, so I’m not sure which choice would be best for me. It’s between the lipstick and the eye shadow. Probably the eye shadow. Thanks! I’m in the US.

  • tomate farcie says:

My choice is the eyeshadow duo. The product I can’t live without is Biologique Recherche P50. I’m in the US. I follow on

  • My choice would be the Sheer Lipstick. It’ll make a nice gift to my sister. Being a guy, I don’t use much beauty products. But if it counts, I love my GlamGlow Super Mud mask. It is seriously magic in a jar!

I just began following on instagram.

    I’m in Canada.

  • I would like to win the Nocturnal Ink Satin Eyeliner in Blue Roan. The one beauty product I cannot live without is a good concealer (I actually use two Benefit products to combine for a perfect concealer color).
I like Rouge Bunny Rouge on Facebook (Cynthia M Richardson and ollow on instagram (@hofken).

  • I would love to win the eyeliner! The one beauty product I can’t live without is my collection of eyeliners! Haha

    I’m following on instagram! Canada

  • I can not be without mascara!!!! My lashes are almost invisible without a great noir mascara. Needless to say I am also always looking for the perfect mascara that must be why I have so many…
I would love the Nocturnal Ink Satin Eyeliner… I am in the US. I do follow on IG and on FB.

  • Greg Mayne says:

My girlfriend LOVES makeup so this would make a great surprise gift to her. As for me, I do enjoy various facial masks. I would choose the Nocturnal Ink Satin Eyeliner.

    Canada and thank you!
