Providence Perfume Co. Beauty Elixir Oil – The Secret to Beautiful Hair + Madame Dumas Know Best Draw

As the Editor in Chief of a Perfume Blog, you would think that the # 1 question I get when people meet me is about fragrance. Actually it's about my hair. Truth is I own more hair products than perfume and have been using natural haircare for over a decade. So when Charna Ethier of Providence Perfume Co. told me earlier this year about a  natural beauty oil that had been in her family for over 100 years, I encouraged her to find the recipe and share it with the rest of us. As someone who adopted argan oil early on, I have grown skeptical of the clutter of argan oil products on the market that contain little or no argan oil at all. I said to Charna, " How much argan oil is in the Beauty Elixir". She replied, 60 percent Michelyn, that is nearly 5x the amount of  what's out there".

Charna's great grandmother Madame Dumas  pictured here at age 68, was a former model and possessed a confidence that was apparent to all.  Those who met her quickly realized that Madame Dumas knew best.  A first generation American, she embraced her French heritage while raising thirteen children and looked impeccable while doing so.  During her day, Madame Dumas was famous for her flawless complexion and lustrous hair expertly coiffed in her signature chignon.

Madame Dumas, Charna Ethier's  Arrière Grand-Mère

Charna explains, "My arrière grand-mère attributed her appearance to daily applications of her magic “beauty oil.”  Ah, the beauty oil!  A secret family formula passed down for generations.   She prescribed her beauty oil for any and all cosmetic ailments.  Hair looking dull?  Beauty oil.  Hands dry and chapped from dish washing?  Beauty Oil.  Despite pleading requests , Madame Dumas never revealed the formula for her handmade beauty elixir. After her passing, it was left to the seven daughters to reunite and piece the formula together, essence by essence.

Our Beauty Elixir Oil is based on this century old secret family formula for beautiful hair and nails.  The fragrance is all our own, and 100% natural.  We invite you to experience the healing power of organic essences blended with the intoxicating aroma of orange blossom, jasmine, camellia and neroli.  Remember, when it comes to beauty, Madame Dumas knows best".

Ingredients:  Organic Argan oil from Morocco, Orange Blossom (Robertet), Jasmine Grandiflorum, Neroli from Tunisia, Camelia oil from China, Coconut oil from Tahiti, Avocado oil from France, Neem oil from India.

  • I want to win this because my hair is completely unmanageable, and because Grandma’s beauty secrets really were the best! 🙂

  • I want to win this because I live in the high desert of Wyoming. I need ANY help I can get to battle dry skin up here! I am in the US…thank you for the draw!

  • I would love to win this. I need something that smells great (not faux fragrance and not so herbal) I need a multipurpose product that does what this one can do for hair, skin, hands/nails and even a bit on body. The blend of essential oils sounsd so unique and fabulous. Camellia oil is light and delicate and works well on fine yet out of control hair.. the scent would be sustainable and last a while– which is a huge deal for me when it comes to using a product. (why is it that herbal oils scent lasts so long but those that smell feminine don’t ?)
This would be a solution to a lot of issues.
I get dry skin, crazy wild hair and lots of other things going on based on my travels around So. CAl. We have so many different micro-climates

I want to win this because I have been on a search for MONTHS for some good hair oil! I’ve found many that work well, but the smell?! OMG!! They either scream “I’m wearing hair product!!!” or have that cheap girl-y fake perfume scent that is overly flower-y and bubble gummy. Yuck.

And, of course, after reading this, I’d try anything that Madame Dumas used!

  • I LOVE beauty oils! I have been converted, trying Josie Maran, Nuxe Prodigeuse, and Caudalie, but I now need to try Charna’s superior-sounding product!! Face and hair are so much smoother using beauty oils, especially face – and not left with an oil slick either. Charna, thank you for making this, I cannot wait to try this. Love the story behind it with your beautiful grandmother. 🙂

The more the better! And you can be sure I’ll sing its praises every chance and every place I can. 🙂

  • I meant “I’m sure they smell *lovely* together,” not “lively.” And forgot to mention that I’m in the US. Oops! Happy Halloween. 🙂
