Lorenzo Villoresi

Italian born Lorenzo Villoresi is the nose and creative director  of his eponymous brand.  He began his journey into the world of fragrance when he traveled to the Middle East in 1981 where he became fascinated by the markets and atmosphere of the places he visited. His passion became a business in 1990 when fashion house Fendi commissioned him to make a line of pot-pourris, scented candles, and ambient room scents. The following year the Lorenzo Villoresi fragrance brand launched with Uomo.

Teint de Neige (Colour of Snow) was created in 2000 and is a soft powdery scent redolent of rose and smells as if it could have been created fifty years ago.  The fragrance embodies the delicacy of flowers frozen in time and when coupled with the sweet musks and powdery notes evoke the scent of freshly showered skin dusted with a light coat of almond scented talcum powder. Most powdery florals tend to lean feminine, but Signor Villoresi’s ability to masterfully blend the musk accord  that creates the aroma of skin give it enough masculinity to be worn by both man and woman, it is a rich and sensual.  The projection of the  Eau de Toilette  is 6-8 hours  and the sillage is moderate, more than enough to catch the attention of someone seated next to you at a party or dinner.  Notes: rose, ylang ylang, jasmine, powder notes, musk, heliotrope, and tonka beans.

Snowflakes by The Nosey Artist

The winter season is usually the time of year when new loves are found and the ones lucky enough to survive the summer fling are solidified, yet here I was in my garden just my frozen roses and I in the company of snowflakes. As I lifted a bulb from my ice encapsulated flowers my wrist was greeted by the fluffy tears of joy from heaven’s angels and at once a smile was brought to my face; I was comforted by heaven’s cool touch and realized that even with out a single person in sight I was the furthest thing from alone.

Love is a verb not a person and the hard work I put into my garden during the spring and summer taught me a new way to translate that verb into an emotion of selfless joy and satisfaction. As I walked through my little winter wonderland and gazed at the icicles hanging from the pots that once held my prized jasmine flowers the memories of their aroma begin to fill my mind so intensely that it was if their spirits were greeting my nose. I closed my eyes to take in the moment, snowflakes began to kiss the tip of my nose and my garden spoke to me in the softest whisper, “You cared for us through out the seasons and we are thankful. When you were too tired from work and the temperature began to plummet you still brought your self amongst us and pruned our weakened buds. You greeted us every morning with n nourishment and sang to us to make us happy. We rewarded your care with blossoming affection; we reciprocated your love with scent filled memories. We love you unconditionally just as you unconditionally showed love for us. Our dear friend you are not alone, we are with you now and for ever more.”

I wish you could do a book of all of these lovely stories. i just love it so much.

The Nosey Artist got me with As I walked through my little winter wonderland and gazed at the ice sickles hanging from the pots that once held my prized jasmine flowers the memories of their aroma begin to fill my mind so intensely that it was if their spirits were greeting my nose.” Fragrance is so much about lost moments and memories.

    USA and thank you.

  • First, Happy Birthday Michelyn ! 🙂

I really enjoyed reading this review, especially Snowflakes, which was so touching.

I’m a long time fan of Teint de Neige, which was my first Villoresi, to me it’s the most beautiful of all Villoresi’s. I’ve worn Musk and Donna too, but if I had to chose one, Teint de Neige would be it.

    Ooops, I’m in Belgium ! 😀

  • Happy fragrant Birthday Michelyn! 🙂

this review reminds me how I first came to know about Teint ne Neige..someone in the forums was looking for a cozy fragrance that doesn’t project too much but that also has an aura like that of Nivea skin cream…Teint de Neige was recommended by many readers. my favorite Villoresi is Piper Nigrum but I want to try Musk soon. thanks a lot for the draw. I am in the US

  • I so love reading reviews by The Nosey Artist. The words are real and heartfelt and all of us can learn a lesson. The unconditional love we put into something comes back to us in a beautiful way. Thank you Nosey Artist for those thoughts before bed-time. This scent sounds beautiful; however i have not had a chance to try a Lorenzo Villoresi perfume yet.

Finally just want to pass on a belated birthday wish to the beautiful Michelyn.

Thanks for the draw – I’m in the UK

  • I remember reading about this perfume in Luca Turin’s book he hated it but Chandler Burr liked it and am glad The Nosey Artist brought it back into my head. The image of jasmine icicles and his lovely ode to Michelyn. I hope she had a good birthday and happy holidays to CaFleureBon

  • First of all, happiest of birthdays Michelyn! Hope you had a fantastic day with freinds and family to celebrate.

My favourite line from Nosey Artist’s review is the opening one: love is a verb, not a person, and we so often seem to forget that… I’m in Canada and I really like Acqua di Colonia. Thanks!

  • Thank you to The Nosey Artist for reminding me that my connection with the natural world is not lost when the cold weather encourages hibernation indoors. There is such beauty in the changing seasons.

And thank you for the reminder of how beautiful Teint de Neige must be. I have not yet tried a fragrance by Lorenzo Villoresi so I will add Teint de Neige and also Ylang-Ylang to my must-try list.

A very happy birthday to Michelyn! Every day should be a joy for one who shares so much beauty with the world.

I am in the US. Thank you for the review and the draw. Happy holidays!

  • Happy birthday Michelyn! I wish you everything good. 🙂
Beautiful review, I have really enjoyed to read it, the prose and the whole article, everything. I have never tried any of Lorenzo Villoresi perfume, but Teint de Neige sounds incredibly fabulous, so I would very love to try that.
I live in Europe. Thanks for the draw!

  • I never realized before reading the article that Lorenzo Villoresi used to make scented goods for Fendi. I love powdery scents, so Teint de Neige is toward the top of my favorites list from the house, but Yerbamate is my #1. I’m in the US. Happy birthday, Michelyn! Here’s to a year full of happiness and good smells.

  • Happy belated birthday, Michelyn!! Hope you had a truly wonderful day. My favorite thing about this post is its dedication to you. I second all the sentiments. I’ve never tried an LV fragrance, much to my surprise! This sounds lovely and feminine. I’m in the US (still). Thank you for the review, the giveaway, and letting us know it’s Michelyn’s birthday!

  • Teint de Neige sounds like the loveliest of fragrances! I very much enjoy perfumes with delicate rose notes in it. One of my favorites is Dior’s Forever and Ever Dior. I am new to Lorenzo Villoresi fragrances. I look forward to exploring his scents, as I am a huge fragrance lover and I’m always looking to add more perfumes to my collection.
This was a beautiful article to read and it brought back memories of when I was a child living in Brooklyn.
I’d like to wish Michelyn an absolutely magnificent Birthday with a year filled with happiness and beauty!
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

  • I love Teint de Neige. I used to wear my sample a few times even if I am a man, then I gave it to a female friend so she could enjoy this angelic scent herself. I have not tried anything else from this house, but I am sure that none of them can surpass Teint de Neige. It is perfect!

    Happy Birthday Michelyn!

I am from EU. Thanks for the draw!

Happy Birthday, Michelyn! Wishing you ll the best. Lovely prose, Nosey Artist! I’m a bit of a summer person, so thanks for illustrating ways to appreciate the cold, icy winter! I’m in USA.

  • Happy birthday Michelyn! Hope you have an incredible one. The review was also amazing, as usual. Great bottle design and I like powdery floral fragrances. I unfortunately haven’t tried any scents from this house yet. I am in Canada and thanks for the draw!

  • Happy belated birthday, Michelyn! I hope you had a wonderful day 🙂 You happen to share a birthday with my father and also my dearest friend in the whole world – a day reserved for very special people, it seems!

Another lovely review from The Nosey Artist – perhaps my favorite of his yet. Loneliness is one of the greatest sadnesses in the world, so I am always in favor of anything that can relieve it, be it beautiful flowers, good friends, a birthday celebration or even a heavenly scent. I’ve heard wonderful things about Teint de Neige and have always wanted to try it. In my mind, it’s the softest, most caressing fragrance ever – I love powder, almond, rose and heliotrope so I’m sure I would love it! I’ve been excited about many of the scents reviewed here, but few have been as high on my ‘list’ as this one. Thank you for the draw! (I’m in the US)

  • Happy Birthday Michelyn. I hope you have an amazing day. The review was very nice. I like the fact that Lorenzo Villoresi was able to masterfully craft this fragrance to be unisex with the musks. If you look at the note breakdown, you’d expect this fragrance to lean towards feminine. I live in the U.S.. Thank you so much.

  • Happy Birthday Michelyn!! I hope you are wearing the most beautiful parfum today!!
If you ask me what’s my favourite Villoresi’s parfum : Teint de Neige! I could sleep every night wrapped in it, I love it in cold weather as it recomforts me, so delicate!
I have loved the Snowflakes text from the Nosey Artist: “The winter season is usually the time of year when new loves are found and the ones lucky enough to survive the summer fling are solidified, yet here I was in my garden just my frozen roses and I in the company of snowflakes.” Frozen roses….this image is sooo nice.
I’m in EU (Spain) and I would like to own the wonderful Teint de Neige.

  • About the review I love the poetic way to describe the fragance and their evocations like: “The winter season is usually the time of year when new loves are found and the ones lucky enough to survive the summer fling are solidified, yet here I was in my garden just my frozen roses and I in the company of snowflakes”

and yes here I am , reading such a delicious descrption smelling that frozen roses colour in snow .. in snowflakes..

I want to wish a nice an d very happy birthday to the beautiful Michelyn.

Thanks for the draw – I’m in EU

I absolutely loved the article and the descriptions of winter – not what is expected, but what is felt. Lovely. I am familiar with Umo, a wonderful crispy lemon scent, but have not tried this new scent. I am always happy to join the draw and hope to win!! Have a grand winter and holiday season, Michelyn. I would be honored to wear your new scent.

  • I love the part about love being a verb and the work in the garden. Reminds me of my Mother in law and all the work she has put into her gardens to spread love and light to all who view her efforts. It makes me thing of that “ahhhh moment” the flowers give us when we spritz our favorite fragrance. Happy Birthday Michelyn, may it be fragrant with flowers and tiny bottles!! I live in the US.

  • Happy Belated Birthday to Michelyn! I hope it was a glorious day.

I completely agree with the “love is a verb” statement. A good reminder for myself as well. I have not yet tried a Villoresi fragrance but I’ve wanted to try Tient de Neige for a very long time as I love powdery, rosy scents. I’m in the US, thank you for the drawing!

  • Hope you had a great birthday Michelyn! I love how natural and pure this fragrance sounds. Great review! I haven’t tried anything from this house but they’re very impressive. I am in Canada

  • Happy belated Michelyn! I hope you had an amazing one! Very nice review as always. I really felt like I was smelling it as I was reading. Definitely a well made fragrance. Thank you for the draw!

    I’m in Toronto

  • Happy belated birthday wishes dear Michelyn and all the best to you
Just to express my feelings for someone special like you for the lovely reviews and informative articles on high perfumery. Lovely review once again with all nostril senses heavenly alarmed!!!
I am a registered reader living in EU. Thank you for the lovely review and draw.
Again happy birthday and happy holiday season

  • Lovely piece! I enjoyed how the imagery of a garden beautiful in winter as well as in summer is really echoed by Teint de Neige, which is also a lovely work of art when worn in either season. I love this powdery beauty, and also love Villoresi’s sandalwood…a dirty sandalwood! I live in the U.S., and the happiest of birthdays, Michelyn!

  • I think I’m too late for the drawing, but I hope Michelyn had a wonderful birthday, and will have an amazing year!
