Ormonde Jayne Ambre Royal Perfume Review +Uni-Sexy Amber Perfume Draw

Ormonde Jayne London was founded by Linda Pilkington in 2002. In collaboration with perfumer Geza Schoen, the brand became a cult favorite but until this year impossible to find in the USA. When I started ÇaFleureBon, Creative Director Linda Pilkington was one of the first to cheer us on, helping us celebrate our first birthday in 2011One of the newest in the collection is Ormonde Jayne Ambre Royal perfume, which was a Selfridge’s exclusive in 2016.

“It was created several years ago and sat in my library waiting for a moment to launch. When the time came for a “gender-free” perfume to hit the market, I thought about Ambre Royal again, pulled it out  and asked people’s opinions. Everyone loved it. At the moment it’s the worldwide best seller“-Linda Pilkington for CaFleureBon

Ormonde Jayne Ambre Royal Perfume is one of the most sophisticated fragrances in the line, and Ormonde Jayne Ambre Royal perfume is equally suitable for a man or for a woman, not cloying or sweet like many amber perfumes.

Michelyn’s Bottle of Ormonde Jayne Ambre Royal Perfume

Unisexy, Ormonde Jayne Ambre Royal uses Ambroxan©, a synthetic molecule and an alternative to Ambergris. Ambroxan ©  has a musky woody profile and when done right, the way Geza Schoen does it here in Ormonde Jayne Ambre Royal perfume, it adds elegance  and balance.  Ormonde Jayne Ambre Royal perfume is deep and resinous and not just another amber scent.

  • What I enjoyed about Sebastians review is the way he conveys his passion for fragrances to the viewer. I’ve never tried any Ormonde Jayne colognes but I would love to win this bottle because I’m a big fan of amber fragrances. I’m in the United States, thank you!!

  • Sebastian’s review makes it clear this is not the typical amber. Very wearable and unisex. My favorite Ormonde Jayne is Black Gold. I would love to win this bottle because it sounds like a wonderful mixture of notes. Thank you.

  • This one sounds great and something I’ll like. I haven’t tried an Ormonde Jayne fragrance yet. It’ll be nice to own a bottle someday.
Sebastian always gives great reviews. I do like his taste in fragrances.
    Thanks for the opportunity. U.S.

  • Frank Gambina says:

What I enjoyed about Sebastian’s review about this fragrance is how he presented the notes composition and gave a background story about this interesting house. My favorite would probably be this one because the notes sound appealing and the versatility of it. I’d like to win because I love the look of the bottle and the fragrance sounds like my cup of tea. I’ve never experienced anything of this caliber. Thanks for the opportunity. New York, USA.

  • Amy Leonhardt says:

I appreciate his describing the notes and reassurance that it is unis x and very wearable. I would love to win this bottle because I’ve heard great things about this house but haven’t been able to get my nose on any of the fragrances. CA

  • BostonScentGuy says:

I like how Sebastian talks about the citric-green top being a surprising opening for an ambre, and that he says it helps it be unisex and not cloying. It also sounded appealing that it could be a good dress up/classy scent! I also totally agree with him that I love a good long sampling process and that has been frustrating about not having good access to OJ in the states! I also love OJ’s treatment of Osmanthus in their soliflore scent so I’m curious how those florals work with the amber! I love Ormonde Man and Woman, Orris Noir, Tolu, and Ta’if…the originals. But really, I’m a fan of most of the scents! Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • Amber accords for me are at the top of the list in perfumery. I love how Sebastian always highlights the uniqueness of a fragrance. I find the opening greenness and that Ambre Royale is not syrupy sweet appealing. I’ve only had the opportunity to sample Ormonde Jayne’s very fine Orris Noire perfume. I would love to have a bottle of Ambre Royale. I live in the US.

  • Chocolate Marzipan says:

I love Sebastian’s enthusiasm with regard to Ambre Royal and also how he describes how this fragrance is not your typical amber. I have never tried any Ormande Jayne fragrances which is why I would love to win this bottle. I reside in the USA>

  • I liked the video explanation that it was not a typical amber
Also that it’s the best seller in the introduction and that the perfumer is Geza Schoen
    My favorite is ormonde man

  • I would love to try this amber out especially that I’m not familiar with the brand. Loved Sebastian’s review on the perfume.

  • I liked Sebastion’s review because he objectively describes the fragrance and addresses all aspects of it, like notes, occasions to wear, and projection and longevity. He is very thorough and gets right to the point unlike other reviewers. I’ve only tried Ormonde Jayne Montabaco as a free sample, loved it and is on my list of possible future purchases. I’d like to win a bottle because I love amber and this one sounds unique and very classy. I believe Ormonde Jayne is a very classy fragrance house.

  • I’m intrigued by the green notes and lack of sweetness. My favorite Ormonde Jayne is Woman- have a couple of samples that I keep going back to- but never had a bottle! I am in the US.

  • Lord Kelwynne says:

How I adore all things English and have yet to try Ormonde Jayne’s offerings. Sadly my work travels to London more than I get to do. I’ll be in a show in Clerkenwell in the beginning of 2018 apparently. I would give my eye teeth to wear such an elegant scent. I am in the US in Pennsylvania.

  • The way Sebastian has described the perfume . Heard good reviews about this house particularly ormonde Jayne man ,nawab of oudh. Was always keen on getting my nose on this house and based on Sebastian’s review looks like a good choice to begin with 🙂

  • I liked the enthusiasm and how he described the scent. I love that it is unisex. I do love Ambroxan and amber and love to layer a single note over other perfumes. I think I would like Ambre Royale – to work with it, try it solo, layer with a solely ambroxan scent, maybe something else woody or musky to bring out those notes. It could be fun!. It does sound amazing.I do not have a favorite Ormonde Jayne perfume (yet!). I’m in the US, thank you for this very generous draw.

  • I love that Sebastian went into detail about the amber note and how he informed us that this was a unisex fragrance. I also love how he reviews brands such as Ormonde Jayne because I’ve never heard about this one before. I would absolutely love to win a bottle of Amber Royal because I am a big fan of amber fragrances because they tend to work really well with my body chemistry.

  • I was interested in his description if this as a unique kind of amber smell. I have tried many amber type fragrances, but haven’t quite clicked with any… his description of this one as suitable for formal events got me interested… I have a few formal events coming up in the near future.

  • Sebastian always seems to have a great way of conveying his passion for fragrances. He is so incredibly knowledgeable and will versed in fragrances and yet explains his fragrances so well that even a young fragrance enthusiast can completely understand what he’s saying. I loved his description of this fragrance and his emphasis on it being “not your average Amber”. Ormonde Jayne “Ormonde Man” had been a favorite in my collection for a while but unfortunately I have yet to get my nose on many others. I’m a huge Amber lover and I think winning this fragrance, especially the way it sounds so intriguing, would ignite the Ormonde Jayne fire inside me one more. Thank you for the opportunity. I live in PA

  • Frozenheat28 says:

SEBASTIAN ALWAYS has an incredible way of conveying his passion for fragrances. He’s so intelligent and well versed but his reviews actually come off so well spoken that even a young fragrance enthusiast can understand. I especially loved when he said ” this is not your average Amber”. I really enjoy Ormonde Jayne’s Ormonde Man, although I regretfully have not tried much else from the line. I would love to win this because I’m a huge Amber fan, and the fact that it’s not a typical Amber sounds so intriguing and I also feel that this would reignite the

  • would love to win this bottle since i’m a big fan of amber fragrances. they make the aroma warm and classy to me. never smelled any of her perfums. the way sebastian described it, i would really fall in love with this one. thanks! U.S.A.

  • Sebastian reminds us he is a huge fan of amber but Ormonde Jayne Amber is not a typical amber. It is uplifting amber that has also other elements such as green and woddy. I am curious by this because I see the traditional OJ DNA as well as Geza’s style in this creation and Geza is a marvelous perfumer. My favorite Ormonde Jayne creation is Nawab of Oudh. I am in the US.

  • Sebastian loves his amber dominant fragrances and you can tell that he definitely enjoyed this fragrance through his facial expressions in describing this scent.
I own Ormonde Man which I really like and have seen reviews on others like Nawab of Oudh-which is another one I want to try.
My wife and I really enjoy fragrances so winning a bottle of this would allow us to enjoy what appears to be a grest fragrance for free.

  • Amber smells great in cold weather, would love to have this. “Hearing” the notes in a video review always has more impact than just reading them. From the house I do really like Orris Noir. USA

  • Wow!
OJ Woman is one of my all time favorites! And amber is a favorite note/type, all kinds–sweet, animalic, herbal, woodsy, etc. I love Sebastian’s description of the progression of notes from green and floral all the way down to the Ambroxan–and also how he gives his big picture impression of wearability, classiness and occasion.
The all-season wear of OJ Woman makes it feel perfect and easy even with its unique complexity; I’m excited for an Amber that wears the same way! Would love to win to try and enjoy and share this unique creation–as Sebastian mentions, OJ is not so easy to find and sample stateside.
Thank you for the review and draw

  • I am unfamiliar with the House of Ormonde Jayyne, but due to Sebastian’s enthusiasm, it seems like this particular fragrance is a definite must sample. While I’m sometimes on the fence about amber fragrances, I’m sure it would make an extravagant stocking stuffer for my mom. Connecticut. Happy holidays everyone.

  • I do not live where I can sample many niche or indie fragrances so I have to purchase samples or blind buy. Sebastian always has informative and interesting reviews. Ormonde Jane has been on my radar for quite a while and I would love to win this to try the house out. Ambre Royal Perfume sounds amazing. The dry down, I is very interesting sounding. Thank you for the opportunity, have a great day.

  • Nadine Cunningham says:

Sebastian does a great job as usual of communicating his love for this fragrance, he seems to be quite passionate about this scent. From all he has said this seems to be a really great fragrance to own. The bottle also has a sleek, beautiful look. I’m not familiar with this house nor have I smelt any of their fragrances buy I would love the opportunity to win this bottle so I can experience what this house has to offer. Thanks Sebastian for you exposure to these less popular but good fragrances!!!

  • joan mansbach says:

As always, Sebastian’s passion and knowledge of fragrance comes through. His detailed description of the notes comprised in Ombre Royal reveal so well the essence of fragrance making it hard to resist. While I am a Ta’if loyalist with a great love of the rose, after hearing about Ombre, I am excited at the possiblity of adding another Ormonde Jayne favorite. I hope. I hope.

  • I enjoyed Sebastian’s YouTube review because I feel like you always get an honest take with him. I want to win because Sebastian said it’s the classiest amber fragrance he’s ever put his nose on! I’d also like to win because its an amber fragrance that can be worn any time of the year. Arkansas

  • Sebastian says it is a completely different kind of amber being elegant… a NEW TAKE on amber. A very versatile new scent from Ormode Jayne Ambre Royal… This sounds nice! I have not put my nose on this house as of yet… I do live in the US and please count me in on the Draw… THANK YOU

because I love a good amber fragrance. I’ve never tried any Ormande Jayne.

I want to win because I love amber fragrances, I also love it when an amber can be worn in any season! Thanks to all involved to make the giveaway possible!

  • I liked his explanation of Ambroxen. Geza Schoen’s work with OJ is superb. Nawab of Oudh is in contention for my Holy Grail fragrance. I am also a Amber fan so I think this one would smell great on me!

  • Sebastian always Goes into great detail explaining the fragrance thats what i love about his reviews you get to really know the fragrance before going forward with samples etc. I’d really love to win this because i love amber fragrances and if i win gonna split this with my sister she would love this. My fav ormonde jayne is nawab of oudh.
    I live in u.s.

  • I always like Sebastian reviews. He is a great expert in the fragrance world. I like that his explenation of the smell is very descriptive ang clear. I have never tried this brand that is why I would love to win. Thank you for a giveaway!

  • Sebastian has sold me again on another great fragrance. I have sampled Ormande Man and Isfarkand in the past courtesy of the nice folks at Ormande Jayne. I would love to add this one to my collection.

  • Sebastian”s reviews are generally spot on. He has a great nose for perfume and loves ambers and oriental fragrances as much as I do. I have not been able to try any from this line so I would love to win this one!

  • Sebastian always is so clear and precise in his analysis. I know he loves ambers and orientals. I really loved Tolu. Thanks for the draw. I live in the USA.

  • After watching Sebastian’s review, I think I could pull Ambre Royal off at work. I do love my HdP Ambre 114, but alas….my co-workers are a bit less enthusiastic about it. Great give-away!!

  • Gvillecreative says:

Thank you for weighing in on how this amber means in towards of gender— and you brought up a good point: there are a lot of ambers that lean one way or the other, but not a lot of formal ambers that are unisex and that would work year round. Now I’m really intrigued! I love several of the Ormonde Jayne fragrances and have been looking for a great Amber to add to my collection! Maybe this is it! I’m in the USA. Thank you for the chance to win you guys!

  • I’ve had the pleasure of being subscribed to Sebastian”s channel. He is an aficionado of great fragrances and through his reviews, Ive become familiar with this particular house. I am one that loves a warm and smooth amber fragrance and this particular selection, Ormande Jayne Ambre Royal would be well suited for special occasions where one wishes to make a nose catching statement while leaving a wonderful lasting impression on those who are in proximity of this magnificent fragrance. I would be delighted if chosen to receive a bottle of this fragrance and would wear it with pride. If I am unfortunate to be chosen, Santa if you are reading this, you know what to drop off on Christmas Day!!! lol Thanks for the chance to enter this giveaway drawing!!! Norman

  • Sebastian always gets me excited about a fragrance when he does his YouTube reviews. He’s so passionate about perfumes and does really great reviews. I don’t own any Ormonde Jayne fragrances so I’d love to win this giveaway. I enjoy amber scents and this one sounds really rich and deep.
    I live in the US/

  • I love how Sebastian describe perfume-so beutyful and interesting style. Unfortunatly I am not familiar with OJ perfumes, but have listen so many good reviews. I like Geza’s works and like amber too. So I would love win and test OJ. US

  • jrwlovescologne says:

Sebastian’s review is intriguing I love the way he describes this lovely fragrance. usa resident

  • I’m not typically an amber person, so Sebastian’s review did catch my interest since he typically isn’t into amber either. Ormonde Jayne is a top notch brand, I own the Vanille Iris. I like that the Amber Royale is directly down the middle of unisex snd that it is all season. The notes of osmanthus and patchouli always get my attention. Great review Sebastian! Thanks for the giveaway.

  • I’m a huge Ormonde Jayne fan, absolutely love all her fragrances. Haven’t had one I didn’t enjoy. Based on Sebastian’s review, I like that he describes this as elegant, zingy in the opening, easy to wear and a completely different Amber. Sounds like a perfect year round fragrance. One of my favorite Ormonde Jayne’s is Black Gold. Thank you for great review, I’m in the US and registered.
