Nishane Hacivat (Murat Katran,  Mert Gurzel and Jorge Lee) 2017 Fragrance Review + Better than ….Draw!

Nishane founders Mert Güzel and Murat Katran (photo Nishane)

ÇaFleureBon has a special relationship with Nishane Istanbul.  I was one of the first bloggers (maybe the first??)  to discover  the House in 2015 at Esxence in Milan.  Creative Directors Murat Katran and S. Mert Guzel, (both born in Instanbul) established the first Istanbul based House in 2012. Turkey is the only country that literally bridges two worlds; Asia and Europe.  Since antiquity the Bosphorus (Boğaziçi), the strait that separates two cultures has fascinated artists, poets, merchants, adventurers and conquerors. 16 extraits de parfums were introduced at Esxence  which according to Murat took five years of intensive research, finding the right accords, perfumers and endless rounds of revisions in order to bring the true spirit of Istanbul to life. Fast forward to Esxence  2016, and the House introduced two perfumes inspired by the poetry of Rumi; 100 Silent Ways and Fan  Your Flames. Fan Your Flames was one of my favorites of the year so I asked Sr Contributor Sebastian Jara to review it as a CaFleureBon Contributor video.

It was with great pleasure that we were the first  to announce  their new  trilogy , called Shadow Play, based on the puppetry of the Ottoman Empire during the 14th and 16th century. Sebastian did a live video interview  with Murat and  Mert at Esxence 2017. They were the first perfumes where they were both the Creative Directors and co- Noses!

Each of the three perfumes was based on archetypal characters…The Traveler, The Femme Fatale and The Performer. Sebastian, was particularly drawn to Hacivat (the artist, performer). Described as a Chypre, (but there are going to be comparisons to Aventus).

Hacivat:  TOP NOTES: Bergamot, Pineapple, Grapefruit; MIDDLE NOTES: Jasmine, Patchouli, Cedarwood; BASE NOTES: Clearwood, Oakmoss, Dry Timberwood –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • I live in Romania (EU) and I haven’t tried anything from the house.

The extraordinary performance and the great reactions from the people around Sebastian while he wore the fragrance make me really want to try it. I, myself, don’t like overly complicated fragrances and, while I admire artistry in perfumery, the scope of any fragrance, from the beginning, was to make the wearer smell good! Fingers crossed for me, and thank you for the giveaway! 🙂

  • I enjoyed the parts of the review where Sebastian discussed the comparison to Aventus but talked more in depth about the differences and how Hacivat was deeper and more complex and has a greater longetivity.

  • fazalcheema says:

I learned from the review that Pineapple is the star of Hacivat. Nishane is the first perfume house from Istanbul. Hacivat does have resemblance to Creed Aventus. In addition to pineapple it has other fruity vibes such as Blackberry and Blackcurrant. Thanks for the generous draw. I am in the US.

  • I recently wanted To Order a bottle of Hacivat today, and i am so happy, that I just have seen Sebastian’s video and the giveaway, sponsored by cafleurebon.com

I would be really Happy, if i would win my First nishane fragrance since I don’t know much about the House.

Since i also really like Aventus and in several Batches of it, and they all does Not perform really Well, i would like to See my Body chemistry reaction on an Extrait de Parfum.

    Best regards Martin

  • How cool that Cafleurebon kind of discovered nishane. I remember the report two yrs ago. I love Afrika Oliphant and fan your flames and bought both when I read about them here
Lol aventus I am intrigued by any chypre
    Adding to my list

  • Hi, I have only recently purchased a sample of this beautiful piece of juice and I must say it’s my current favourite and would love nothing more but to have a bottle of this but can’t afford it. Thanks to seb for giving us this chance to win it.i am very vocal with what I wear and wear fragrance with pride and would have no issues telling people about this amazing fragrance. Many thanks

  • Samuel Kusi says:

I’ve heard great things about this house and I would love to try Nishane’s Hacivat release. I’m interested in trying this fragrance because bergamot is my favorite note and I’m looking for the next best fragrance outside of Le Labo, that does bergamot very well.

  • Greetings from spain…Sebastians reviews are always great and this one in particular capture my atention, the notes break Down are very appealing to me…hope to win the bottle, havent tried anything from this house yet.

  • I would love to win this fragrance Because it has great notes and I like what’s in it .

  • Scentsnbusiness says:

Sebastian is an amazing reviewer and I’m intrigued by him saying that this is different from Aventus, hes got a great nose and I’m curious as to how different this actually is as I’m a big fan of Aventus but it could be better! My favorite Nishane so far is Pasion Choco and I’m from Canada.

  • What i enjoyed about sebastians review obviously is the way he describes fragrances he always gives a great breakdown of notes you can almost smell .
Fav nishane fragrance is Fan Your Flames.
    I Live in canada

  • What I liked about Sebastian’s review is that he seemed genuinely excited about this fragrance. What I’m most drawn to about the fragrance is that it’s a chypre and that it performs well! I would love to win! I live in the United States. Thanks for the opportunity to win such an awesome giveaway!!

  • I’m drooling. Sebastian has captured my attention and am dying to give this a try. I’m loving the longevity he described for a fragrance like this one. Enjoy pineapple and florals as well. I have Fan Your Flames and it’s a true beauty as I suspect this will be. Thanks for a great review and draw. In the USA.

  • Beata Dufresne says:

I adore Nishane and wish to have their entire collection one day! I liked that Sebastian explained how the top notes might even turn the fruitiness to be more like blackberries, blueberries and not only pineapple. His love for this fragrance shows through his review. I only have decants from Nishane and my favorite of their scents is Suede et Safran. Thank you, and I’m located in the US.

  • Patrick Echevarria says:

Excited to learn that this shares the same vein as Aventus, being a big fan of it,though Seb mentioned that Hacivat is more than being just slightly similar. Have always been curious with Nishane and haven’t had the luck of encountering these fragrances whenever I travel. Hoping someday that I maybe able to sample and test all from this house. Would certainly love to win this giveaway. San Diego USA

  • Been wanting to try this House
Hopefully I can start off with Hacivat
    Thanks for this awesome giveaway
    Peace

  • I’ve never tried perfumes from this house, I like all Sebastian’s reviews for his very professional attitude and great explanation how the scent smells like. I’m from Poland.

  • Hello, I live in the Washington DC area. I love watching Sebastian’s reviews, he’s very relatable and willing to comment on others reviews no matter how many followers you have. I appreciate that. I really liked how he made the comparison to Creed Aventus using specific details, that registered with me. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to try any Nishane fragrances yet but next time I’m at Twisted Lily I will definitely explore the line.

  • Sebastian is one of my favorite reviewer. He is very knowledge in the whole fragrance topic. He has a great way to describe the scent and similar taste to mine, so when he describe the fragrance and says that it is fabulous that means it is, and I will definitely like it. I do not own any of Nishane fragrace, but I would love to!

  • From Sebastian’s review, I actually learned that the suggested pronunciation of Hacivat is actually “Hah-chi-vaht” versus “Hah-si-vaht.” My favorite Nishane of all that I have sampled thus far is actually this one — Hacivat 🙂 I live in Texas, USA.

  • What I enjoyed about Sebastian’s review is the description of Havcivat. A high performance, long lasting, versatile fragrance with complexity. I like the fact that it’s fruity/berry with a woody drydown. I’m not aware if I’ve ever tried any Nishanes. I’m in the US. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Sebastian is not a show off or makes himself sound like he’s getting paid for his opinion. He is so authentic and i can relate to him and thats why i love watching his reviews and having bought a fragrance only on his detailed discription of the fragrance and i LOVED it. Thats why im a dedicated viewer and love Sebastian. Im in California USA would absolutely love to win

  • Sebastian”s review is on point as usual, I’m fascinated by the blackcurrant, and pineapple together, just lovely :). EDP too so no need to reapply throughout the day . Even the name sounds amazing, Hacivat mmmmm say it with me, Ha- ci- vat ….. hope I win the giveaway, looking forward to becoming acquainted with House Nishane very soon. Bless

  • Love the description of the top given in the video. And love the listed base note of oakmoss. I’d love to win this and get my own compliments. 🙂 I have yet to have a favorite Nishane. US

  • Sebastian made this fragrance sound great. I would love to try Nishane fragrances and Hacivat sounds like something I would enjoy. Thanks.

  • A very intriguing cologne to try for this weltering heat in LA… I would luv to win a bottle!!!

  • Cologniano_D says:

Sebastian is always thorough with his reviews, and has content that keeps me intrigued. Never predictable. Thorough in depth conversation with his guests and never interrupts to express his knowledge. Very courteous. I do not own a Nishane and I am in the midst of testing several. Notably fan your flames. I live in Decatur, GA.

    THANK YOU!

  • jacob magill says:

I always love Sebastians reviews because the are high quality, easy to watch and he gets right to the point.

  • Sebastian was very enthusiastic about how much he liked this fragrance. I also liked that it lasts all day and the described notes sound like something that I would like very much.

  • Nahanni Riversong says:

Wonderful review as always,, I love love love a lasting fragrance so I am super looking forward to smelling any from this house. Sebastian really does such an honest and straightforward opinion and I trust his nose if that is something you can trust. I have been familiar with the house Nishane and have not tried any yet. Would love to win, because this fragrance sounds super intriguing to me. Bay Area

  • ntabassum92 says:

I like that Sebastian gives us a short but sweet intro to the house and his history with it. I didn’t know Cafleurebon was the first to discover Nishane, and I didn’t know Nishane is the only Istanbul perfumery! I have never tried a Nishane perfume but I direly want to. I am in the USA.

  • Tom Schroeder says:

I enjoyed most Sebastian’s obvious excitement and happiness to provide a review for Nishane Istanbul Havicat. The note breakdown was interesting, but Sebastian’s take on the fruity differences in the top notes as well as the compliment factor and extended performance of the Extrait de Parfum make me truly want to explore this and other Nishane fragrances. Great backstory on discovering them in 2015. and I am determined to discover them in 2017! — San Jose, CA, US

  • Im big fan of Fragrance with the pineapple note and long lasting is always a good thing..keep making great scent!!

  • Thanks for the review! Who does not love getting compliments from the people around? Hearing the notes and the fact that it gets you some unsolicited attention, is definitely convincing me that this perfume is a total winner. I know only Munegu from Nishane, but I would like to discover more.

    I live in EU. Thanks!

  • Thank you for this amazing opportunity! I love how Sebastian talks about Hacivat being a huge compliments getter and how long lasting it is! Greetings from Belgium.

  • My favorite part of Sebastian’s review is how mentioned the added depth and notes as compared to other fragrances of similar make up; the compliment factor.

The fragrance sounds like an extraordinary one. One I can’t afford as of yet so I would like to win to give me a chance to experience a high calibre fragrance I would not be able to afford for many years. I live in Zambia.

Thanks Sebastian, Cafleurebon and Nishane Istanbul.

  • ElenaChiss says:

I am a person who always seeks a fragrance that lasts long since my type of skin is the dry kind and every fragrance fades off really quick, but Sebastian says that this Nishane is long lasting and it is a extrait, therefore Hacivat can be perfect for me. Thank you for the opportunity!

  • I enjoy every Sebastian review i would LOVE to meeting Cafleurebon writer in vídeo someday too, i like to know the diferencies btween Aventus ,and i Will choose Nishanes Hacivat It seems deeper and its a compliment getter as well.
I LOVE Yukiko illustration very much , everything she does its beautiful.
    Thanks for the chance.

  • Im from Spain , and i havent the chance to try any Nishane yet , but im very curious about Fan your flames and Tuberose.Sorry ,i forgot to put this in the first post.

  • I heard recently for this house and just hear praise for their perfumes.Would like to have Hacivat and Sebastian is a very calm and sincere reviewer on youtube.Next time when I visit Istanbul I will definitely visit Nishane shop.

  • What I liked about the review is that he is thrilled about this juice. I am interested becouse of the notes and the lasting and I havent tried none of Nishane fragrances yet : the good reviews are always an open door to a new world. I am from Spain

  • Istanbul is one of the most amazing cities on the earth. During the history, it had different names and rulers and been occupied by different empires. The location, topography of Istanbul is unique and still is a multicultural city with thousand secrets inside.
I never had a chance to try any perfume from this house, But I am sure their perfumes are mixed with the magic and Nishane (in old persian/kurdish means sign) of Istanbul.
Thank you Sebastian for the review and as always great.
Thanks to Cafleurebon and Nishane Istanbul for the opportunity.
    Live in the USA.

  • I liked the fruity juicy blackberry/blackcurrant and woody notes mentioned and that it’s tenacious. It does sound like a great fragrance. Haven’t tried anything from the brand and I am curios in trying them. Thanks for the draw, I live in EU.

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always interesting and very good. I have never had a chance to try any of Nishane Istanbul perfume. I live in Europe. Thank you for the draw.

  • As always Sebastine does a wonderful video! Hacivat by Nishane a resemblance blend of notes toward a bolder fragrance in the vane of a Aventus pineapple /blackberry/blackcurrant scent . Sounds great! I do live in the US… THANK YOU!

  • Dhruba Dasgupta says:

I’ve heard nothing but great things from Nishane, and now with this release and it’s potentcy I’d love to get my nose on it!

  • I am curious to wear such a compliment getter! So far I smelled some Nishane scents on blotter, but nothing convinced me to go skin. If I win, please send this to my German address.

  • Sabastine did a wonderful job explaining/reviewing the perfume.

I have not smelled any of the Nishane perfume.

Thanks for the chance, I’m in Canada.

  • Sebastian’s review definitely peaked my interest. I’m wondering how the fruity notes will work together. Two years ago I got a discovery set and couldn’t decide which one of the line I liked best. They were all wonderful. Thank you so much for the draw. I live in the USA

  • I am yet to try a fragrance from this house but I have heard good things. The note break down of Hacivat is interesting and I am curious to see how the scent develops. I am in Canada.

  • I live in Canada.

My favourite Nishane Instanbul fragrance that I tried so far has been Pasion Choco.

I appreciated how passionate and concise Sebastian was. Straight to the point.

Would love to try Hacivat as it was based on the artist/performer architype and I already feel a connection as I am a visual artist and musician.

  • Love the enthusiasm in the video. Love the notes of grapefruit and pineapple in the same perfume. I personally have not tried anything from Nishane Istanbul. U.S.A.

  • Norbert F. says:

I really like the Sebastians review, because he is doing an excellent job explaining the fragrance, he is as detailed as possible about Hacivat and it sounds really wonderful, I love juicy, fruity fragrances myself so I am ultra excited for this giveaway, I ve tried only Afrika Olifant from Nishane and I was blown away by the quality and the complexity of the scent, I am really looking forward to smell what they ve done with a fragrance with fresher notes. Thanks for the amazing giveaway, good luck everyone 🙂

  • I have just discovered this brand visually and would of course love to try it firsthand. Having travelled in Turkey and with many fond memories of the smells and fragrances there I am curious as to the nuances of culture that lie in their work perhaps ? certainly I can feel those notes in my memories. Complexity is a part of everyday life and nothing better than expressing them in fragrance. The allure of the east meets west. Loved seeing the video, images brought to life and to see Sebastian for real 🙂
I an in NZ and thanks so much for the generous worldwide draw guys:)

  • TBH, I’ve been tired of seeing all the hyped “Aventus” copy train or “Aventus like” trend anymore, enough is enough, even slightly deterred to see pineapple as a top note! But I believe Nishane could be different for all the reputation it’s been given, I normally don’t fall into fresh citrus scents, but having faith in Nishane, I hope to win the darw this time!
U.S Texas based here, many thanks!

  • Very cool that Nishane is the first Istanbul-based perfume house. Congrats to the founders, Mert and Murat! I think the comparison to Aventus is really helpful – it gives me an idea of Hacivat, but I love that this fragrance leans more on the unisex side. The berry-fruitiness Sebastian describes sounds wonderful, and who doesn’t love a major compliment getter? Nishane is new to me so I haven’t tried any of their fragrances. In the US! Thanks for the draw!

  • Sebastian spoke highly of this perfume and house.
This sounds better than Aventus with good projection and longevity.

‘Fan your flames’ is another one I want to try from them.

    In USA.

  • Sorryremix says:

Classy+ complement getter + complex + Uncomplicated = I really hope that I win this beautiful bottle !

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

This fragrance really sounds interesting! Multiple compliments over and over again. HACIVAT is a tribute to elegance, competence, and love of art. Thanks for the review. At the moment Described as a Chypre, so Hacivat is for me. I am enjoying Hundred Silent Ways & Boszporusz, whereas Fan Your Flames, Afrika Olifant, Patchuli Kozha & Munegu are on their way & will get my hands on 10th August 2017.,
Thanks to Nishane Instanbul and CafleureBon for the opportunity. Pakistan

  • Twinpeaker says:

I particularly enjoyed hearing about the long lasting quality ingredients and all the compliments! As a niche fragrance wearing in a relatively scent phobic city (San Francisco) I rarely get compliments on fragrances, no matter how glorious I think they are! Really hoping to be able to try Nishane, this is a new house to me.

  • I like the way he explains the notes pyramid and what he gets and I do believe it’s his honest opinion. And like the fact that he brings up that not everything that has pineapple has to smell like Aventus. Never tried anything from the brand yet, hope I’ll have the chance. I live in the EU.

  • Gvillecreative says:

The best part of this review is how obviously authentic Sebastian’s enthusiasm Havicat is. I haven’t tried any Nishane frags, but this sounds like a great place to start! A more complex and unique pinapple frag? Sign me up!! I live in the US. Thanks for another great opportunity to hear the truth about niche fragrances!

  • I like Sebastian’s style of description: very siply, but very interesting and imformative!!! The comparision of Hacivat with Aventus was very interesting. I like that fact that Hacivat is big compliment getter!
I’ve read many beautyful reviews about Nishane, so I want to try all perfumes.
    from Armenia

  • Great review, great fragrance house. Santalove has won my heart but after hearing Seb speak about Hacivat, that may change.
    – Logan from Florida

  • I’m looking forward for this hacivat from nishane especially reading the notes are in it. Would be amazing to win such a nice looking bottle. Thx for the amazing giveaway.

  • I haven’t heard about Nishane before, but due to the price and the description as an Extrait de Parfum Hacivat should definitely have a better performance than Aventus, which didn’t seem outstanding to me. What Sebastian said sounded promising!
Additionally, I always thought that Aventus is a little bit too ‘dry’ and the pineapple fades away rather quickly. With Hacivat being fruitier and richer, it should top Aventus on several levels.

    Robert from Germany

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews!! I’m not ever tried any fragrances from Nishane but this one sounds very nice. I love the citrus and woody notes.
    I live in the USA

  • Hi, I’m Leonardo from Milano.

I’m totally in love with the world of fragrances, and I spend every lunch break smelling scents in the boutiques around my city! 🙂
I love “Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews” because I find him an honest, prepared and pleasant reviewer.
I loved when he described the notes composing this scent, making you feel like you’re really smelling them and getting me very curious! 🙂

I would love to have the possibility to try this brand for the very first time!

    Leo

  • doveskylark says:

I appreciate Sebastian’s love for this line. I usually wear fragrances just for myself and I always say I don’t give a damn if anyone else likes what I am wearing. But I lie! I want to be complimented. Who doesn’t? I’d love to see what happens if I wear this.
I haven’t tried anything from this line, but wouldn’t it be fun to go to Istanbul and try out everything, a different fragrance for each day spent in the city?
    I live in the USA.

  • I have read about Nishane but never have had a chance to sniff any of them. The video review only serves to peak my intetest further. Hacivet sounds like an ultimate scent for me and I would love the chance. I live in Oregon in the US.

  • I enjoyed Sebastian’s enthusiastic description of this fragrance, it sounds like it would be wonderful. Pineapple, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Cedar, Woody notes and Oakmoss are some of my favorite notes in a fragrance. And to top it off he said that the performance is amazing, so it’s a fruity, juicy complex scent that you can wear everyday that lasts all day and you get a lot more depth from Hacivat than you get from Aventus, sounds awesome! Count me in!
    Benjamin from WI, US

  • Love the fruity pineapple vibe this one gives out. Another great review! Haven’t had the chance to try a fragrance from this house yet, hopefully will in the near future. I’m in Canada and thanks for the draw!

  • I remember when this site had the article about ShadowPlay. Sounded interesting for so many reasons. Am glad Sebastian got to try them and review Hacivat. And if its got more depth than Aventus as stated…bring it on:) I like the woody notes that go with the pineapple and grapefruit. I haven’t tried any Nishane Istanbul fragrances yet but would love to win. Thanks for the chance. Im in UT in USA

  • Absolutely gorgeous and excellent perfume as it’s an extrait de parfum, it beats out all the competition with its beast projection and sillage. In India it’s rare to find it but if i get an opportunity to own this, definitely will promote among my high class friends who are perfume lovers. We are always among top celebrities and actors from Bollywood, hence, we have better chance to promote it tobb

  • Nishane, has taken fragrance to yet another level… Niche powerhouse.. class scents
    Hacivat
    Ani
    Karagoz

    Love the brand
