New Perfume Review: Tambela Wanderer  (Elise Pearlstine) 2016+ Calling The Nomad Home Draw

Dr. Elise Pearlstine of Tambela Perfumes

ÇaFleureBon's Editor and educator (her writing for CaFleureBon Notes in Perfumery and Perfumers Workshops are a perfume class in themselves), Dr. Elise Pearlstine,  is also the creator of Tambela; offering all natural perfumes, soaps, single oils, and more. Elise has just launched Wanderer; a lunar perfume worked on in the fall of 2015 and finalized during the Wolf Moon on January 23 2016- As with Dark Moon Rose, Wanderer is an offering to the year and an investigation into deep intention. Interestingly, a Wolf Moon is the moon which brought wolves outside the village, howling in hunger.

The view of the mountains and trees at Sundance Timpanogos Utah

Inspired by a yoga retreat at Sundance Resort in 2015, Elise used aromatics chosen at evening satsang (Sanskrit, “true company”: in this case, a traditional social gathering after yoga- sometimes including a small snack such as pineapple) by the group of women to reflect scent memories of the retreat and the surrounding western mountains to formulate Wanderer.

Perfume as homage to the tradition of gathering to heal and of the inherent part of Nature in that process.

Encapsulating the aspen/fir zone and sacred materials found in yogic circles to the early morning wild roses Elise imbibed during her time there, Wanderer contains the fiery determination which brings healer and the to be healed together clove/spiced burst welcomes a crisp high mountain morning; the deep forest lungs breathe in rose. Wanderer is not the hitchhiking, gritty stories of aimless journeys, it is the stillness of the soul as one travels through life. Wanderer calls the nomad home.

This rose (actually two Bulgarian roses) deepens in the evergreen environs, as black current seems to be bleeding from the rose combo.

Pine Needles

To stay the floral hemorrhage, Jessica Ring's artisan Black Poplar Oil soothes, and takes the stick from tree needles, giving sweetness to the respiratory medicine and sustains both rose and fir cœur.

junipertips

Juniper tips

There is still a gathering, between Elise and Jessica, in Wanderer; still the healers gather to assuage. Deep rooted connection comes from juniper-spiked vetiver- more earthen than grass. Frankincense and sandalwood assume well known asanas- bringing focus and fixation.

wildutahrose

Wild Utah Rose

While the connection to yoga and healing gathering may not appeal to everyone, the gorgeous mountain rose in Wanderer has widespread appeal, even if you're not down with dog down or having your grinch sized heart chakra opened.

Wonderful review as always by the eloquent Einsof The spiritual journey, call it what you like to the creation of this fragrance already starts us from a place that we discover by reading this review. I live your conveyance of this Einsof. Thank you . Suggestion is a great motivator. I am a true believer of the energy that embues a fragrance journey. The ‘stillness of the soul’ is a humbling place to be. I’d wear this just for that, however the combos of raw ingredients that Elise is using makes me think magic right away! I do like to wear a fragrance that transports me or better harmonises me. Their is always purpose. I’m in New Zealand

this is interesting perfume, incorporating two types of roses and blackcurrant among other notes. It has been inspired by a yoga retreat, thus, I expect it to have the properties of a relaxant. Perfume does affect our moods and it does lift my moods. In fact, there are some lovely perfumes that never cease to amaze me no matter how many times I smell them. It just happened again yesterday as I smelled Shiseido Feminite du Bois. Thanks a lot for the generous draw. I am in US.

Spiritual retreats are so refreshing for the soul. I’m not sure perfume inspires my mood, but it does enhance it and certainly it is a memory trigger. I’m in the USA. Thank yo so much for the giveaway.

I love this part of the review: “Wanderer is not the hitchhiking, gritty stories of aimless journeys, it is the stillness of the soul as one travels through life Wanderer calls the nomad home”. I would love to smell Wanderer as the smell of nature (usually the forest) always make me feel better. Thank you for the draw, I live in Europe.

Year another great review by Einsof! Loved the back story and the note descriptions for Wanderer. Definitely use fragrance and nature as therapy.I’m not a happy person unless I’m able to spend time outdoors. Fragrance also helps keep me in a better frame of mind.

This sounds wonderful: “Inspired by a yoga retreat at Sundance Resort in 2015, Elise used aromatics chosen at evening satsang (Sanskrit, “true company”: in this case, a traditional social gathering after yoga- sometimes including a small snack such as pineapple) by the group of women to reflect scent memories of the retreat and the surrounding western mountains to formulate Wanderer”. I feel like I could use a similar retreat and, since now I don’t have the opportunity to do so, I hope that I am going to be lucky to win some Wanderer 🙂 Thank you for the draw! I am in the EU.

I am not very much into yoga but I love rose s scents. Thanks for a chance to win Wanderer. I use to lift my spirit sometimes in the evenings when I am tired already but want to do some works. These few drops of favorite fragrance can change my mood and give me an extra strength 🙂 I am in EU.

I love the photos and the poetic description of the process of choosing and gathering the ingredients. I think I got used to using perfumes as cosmetics and sadly I don’t pay enough attention to their influence on my mood and mental life. Thank you for the draw. I live in the EU.

Sundance must be a real inspiration for a perfumer. Wanderer sounds lovely and I like the feel I get from wearing naturals; you can tell the difference. USA

This fragrance sounds very unique, refreshing, soothing and inspiring. I’ve never heard of black poplar before and never tried anything from Tambela. And yes, I believe that scents may be powerful, healing or even life-changing.

I live in Norway and I’d love a 3 ml sprayer. Thanks for the draw.

I love rose and resin combination. I experience it as a spiritual, almost unearthy combination. My last few weeks were rather difficult and exhausting and I could use a yoga retreat or at least a few drops of a healing scent. I live in Europe.
