New Perfume Review: ORLOV Paris Star of The Season + Diamonds, Destiny and Dominique Ropion Draw

orlov paris star of the season perfume

The story behind ORLOV Paris is as multifaceted as its theme.  Creative Director and HRD Certified diamond cutter Ruth Séry and her husband Thomas Méaulle combined two of their passions… diamonds and perfume to create this luxe House.

No expense was spared. Dominique Ropion, one of the world’s greatest perfumers was engaged to create each fragrance.  Ruth sought out M. Ropion after falling in love with Frederic Malle Carnal Flower.  And like any great love story, (ORLOV is a contraction of Our Love) there was a marriage proposal, diamonds and destiny; her future husband Thomas was wearing Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire  also signed by M. Ropion when they met.  Each ORLOV Paris fragrance is named after a legendary diamond that have been objects of desire and mystery to Royalty, Movie Stars and Moguls.  There are currently five parfums in the line, but the scent that shines the brightest for contributor Sebastian Jara of the YouTube Channel  Looking Feeling Smelling Great,  and founder of a popular Facebook Group is aptly named Star of The Season.

  • Whoa Sebastian really does a great job telling the backstory of this company. Somehow makes ORLOV Paris more respectable and trustworthy .

  • Sounds like another star of a fragrance. Sebastian description of a delicious and daring fragrance would make me want to try this. I love sandalwood and have never seen or tried a Orlov fragrance.

Hope you all are having a Merry Christmas! Mahalo from Hawaii

  • I love Sebastian’s review, very informative he give a great description of the fragrance..This fragrance sounds like something I would full joy..This fragrance has all the notes I look for in a fragrance,..sounds well crafted, well rounded and breathtaking.

  • Wow. What a review! Sebastian made me want to try this so much (including the rest of the line)!! Love the whole video review as it was so favorable (delectable sounding indeed), but quite enjoyed hearing how this line started and the intent. Ooh, if I was lucky enough to win this full bottle, I would be in heaven! Thank you all for the generous giveaway and Merry Christmas to those who celebrate today. I’m home sick in bed. Boo hoo. Cheers from Maine, USA!

  • I like the backstory of Orlav Paris fragrances that Sebastian shared. Fun where inspiration comes from sometimes:) This would be amazing to win! Thanks so much for the chance:) Happy Holidays!

  • Excellent review and history on both the company and development of the perfume. I need to find a gourmand to fit in with my collection and would love an opportunity to be entered!

  • I’m not familioar with Orlav. Sebastian’s reviews are always amazing. I can already tell what it’s going to smell like from his amazing review and I know I’m going to like this. Thanks Sebastian. I live in the U.S.. I always appreciate these awesome opportunities to win great fragrances.

  • Happy to know about the company thanks to SEBASTIAN´S video, never heard of it before…GREAT heads up specially since I am heading to Paris next months….
hoping to take part of the giveaway, good job!

  • Merry Christmas and hope you are enjoying it. Great video on this wonderful perfume. Hope to obtain some samples and get an idea of what this company is about. Keep up the good work in your videos! It helps people in making decisions on the type of good smelling perfume they can get for themselves, family or friends. God bless and have a continue great Christmas!

  • Sebastian does a great job at explaining how fragrances smell and based on his video and reading this blog post I would definitely like to smell and hopefully win this fragrance. Thanks everyone!

  • First of of Merry Christmas to everybody. Great review my friend Sebastian. Orlov Paris is definitely of of the the best perfume lines of this year. They will reach out the top soon. The bottle, the box, the packaging all looks great and Orlov does not lose in any thing for brands like Xerjoff, Roja Dove, Sospiro, by Kilian etc. in this category.
I’ll definitely going to check Orlov Paris after this review. I’m amazed with Sebastian’s description and with the bottle and everything. The history behind the brand is great and Orlov by then self tells everything.
Thanks for this amazing draw. I’m in the U.S.

  • Great review, Sebastian! A spicy sandalwood that becomes a woody gourmand sounds most intriguing! I live in the States. Thank you for this opportunity.

  • This article mentions two Malle fragrances which inspired the founders of Orlov and I have gotten both of them this year: Vetiver Extraordinaire and Carnal Flower. Even Frederic Malle himself is known to frequently wear Vetiver Extraordinaire. i look forward to testing Orlov’s fragrances and how diamonds inspired the compositions. thanks a lot for the draw. I am in the US.

  • Diamonds & Perfume, what is not to love? and then to add created by master perfumer, nose Dominique Ropion sure gets somebodies interest.. Wonderful perfumer and I love the idea of if being a sandalwood oriented gourmand oriental, it sounds wonderful for the Holiday season. Lately I am falling more in lobe with Iris also and who could say no to a chocolat accord. It really sounds as divine as the name. I am in the US and would LOVE the opportunity to win this. Happy Holidays 🙂

Sebastian does a very good job of reviewing and breaking down the scent. Orlov Paris makes very sexy fragrances.

  • I had heard about this brand and ORLOV love story and using Dominique Ropion. Love the story and diamonds. Their website is beautiful too but you can’t order samples.i really liked how Sebastian talked about Samsara which is a really beautiful perfume and I also love Chocolaty patchouli
Please enter me I am in the US

  • Sebastian said this was the best sandalwood. I have been looking for a great sandalwood for a while now with no luck. I thought finding one would be easy. Sounds like Star of The Season has the potential for being “the One”. I like that it has iris and dark chocolate patchouli. Does anyone know where to get Orlov Paris samples? None of the usual sites have this line. USA.

  • Wow, that is exclusive! Especially for us middle-of-the-country dwellers.

Cinnamon and clove speak my language… and a “delicious sandalwood”? I’m sold. Great review, Sebastian! I have heard of Orlov before, but not in such detail. A great concept for what sounds like an incredible line. Thanks for filling us in. I’m in the USA. Thanks as always for the lovely, generous draw!

  • What a great review Sebastian and nice colaboration with Cafleurebon.com. I love your reviews on your youtube channel ‘Feeling Looking Smelling Great’. I follow you since ‘Man Loves Cologne’. Orlov Paris great seems to be a great acquisition for your collection. I have not check any Orlov Paris yet but the discription you gave about Star of The Season made me stop and start to plan to check Orlov Paris soon as I can. Thanks to Cafleurebon and Orlov Paris for the draw.

  • This is exactly why I love Ca Fleure Bon. I would never have thought to check out Orlov, but Sebastian’s review made it so clear to me that this fragrance in particular has practically everything I seek in a perfume.

I love sandalwood, but the addition of spices (clove, cinnamon, cumin) are the first clue that this fragrance is a stunner that may as well have been composed just for me.

Marvelous review. And obviously, this is one gorgeous scent that I will have to get my nose on one way or another. I am now looking forward to my introduction to Orlov. If only we had a Bergdorf Goodman in Chicago!

  • I know very little about this house but I must say, I’m very intrigued now. Sebastian’s enthusiasm for this scent makes it seem absolutely delicious! I would love to try it, thanks for the chance.

  • Very good review of this new brand, I loved the name Orlov. The details of this fragrance is very interesting and the notes leads to believe that Star of the Season goes to a more sensual side and the Orlov presentation is sensational.
A great draw to end this day of Christmas. Thank you.

  • Love how sebastian makes every perfume sound like a treasure that you cant not have in your possession.

  • A gourmand sandalwood on the spice side, sounds nifty indeed. The Orlov presentation looks deluxe. They have not been on my radar, not sure why. Thank you for the generous draw (US).

  • I like how in depth Sebastian goes with his review. So far as even giving the reasoning behind the nose.
Besides that, his description of the scent is just great and makes me want to smell it.

  • I am familiar with ORLOV only be reading about it online. I always enjoy the audio reviews. I love “hearing” the personal take of the perfume by the reviewer. USA

  • BostonScentGuy says:

The words “tasty and delicious” were used to describe this sandalwood fragrance and I love it when sandalwood is made sumptuous and rich. I also love the love story background Sebastian goes into for the review! I am not familiar with this brand and would love to be in the draw. I’m in the US.

  • Wow, this sounds really good. The presentation looks great too. Sebastion is an amazing reviewer and a real pro. Good luck to everyone.

  • This release sounds deliciously amazing with the Sandalwood note being the Star of the fragrance. Sebastian’s mention of Rose being in the notes peaked my interest even more. This sounds like a MUST HAVE for me.

  • Amazing review Sebastian and thanks a lot to introducing Orlov for us. I have never heard about this house before and seems to be the next Hype niche house. I love sandalwood base fragrance and more creamy the sandalwood is, the better it gets, in my opinion. My first experience with sandalwood was with Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche and after then I’ve always been fond of sandalwood based fragrance. Star of the Season sounds to be the type of a sandlwood based fragrange that I love. USA

  • I really liked Sebastian’s description of the notes especially the cinnamon and clove. I was concerned about the mention of cumin but he said it’s just a touch so I will take the risk! I have heard of Orlov but haven’t tried any of their scents yet. Thank you for the draw and I am in the U.S.!

  • I love Sebastian’s point of Dominique Ropion’s use of seldom used notes in his frgrances.I’d love to win this, goodluck to everyone involved!Thank You.

  • This sounds like it has just about everything in it! I too like “delicious” chocolatey patchouli. This sounds like it could well be a winner for me. Thanks for an informative review.

  • Loved how Sebastian described the patchouli as a dry chocolate. The frangrance sounds amazing and bordering a gourmand. Love the name as well. Beautiful bottle. Thanks for a chance. In the USA.

  • Great review Sebastian. The Star of the Season is definitely on my radar after this review. Dominique Ropion is my favorite perfumer and I love almost all fragrances made by him and I believe that Star of the Season going to be my next fragrance purchase, at least I’ll try to get a sample of it. Orlov Paris is starting on the right way letting Dominique Ropion make these ‘Elixirs’. I wanna check Flame of Gold and Sea of Light too. Thanks to ORLOV Paris for this amazing draw.
    USA

  • I am not familiar with Orlov. I love the name of this fragrance and the description. The back story is interesting as to how they picked a perfumer. Lives of the rich and famous!!

  • Hello, I have not smelled any from the Orlov line. I like to hear about the development of a fragrance live as it’s freshly sprayed on a reviewer. I wear clove well so hope I’m chosen. 🙂 u.s.a.

  • I liked his description of Star of the Seson a spicy, woodsy, and gourmand. Those are three things I like in a perfume, but rarely find together. I have only read about Orlov Paris here at Ca Fleure Bon. I’m in the US.

  • I read about Orlov but never been able to test. Great review and amazing description , I’d love to try it. Perfect for winter. And to make it even better Dominique Ropion is the nose behind this.
I live in the US. Thanks

  • Sebastian sounds particularly enthused about the Indian sandalwood note in Star of the Season, and I adore sandalwood, so I’m excited to try this. (His review also made me crave Samsara.) All I know about ORLOV I learned here, but hooray for diamonds and perfume, together at last. I’m in the US. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Sebastian’s face said it all. He loved this one. The note of sandalwood is one of my favorites. He also explained the changes to look forward to which really tells the story of what the perfumer intended to do with his or her art. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year guys. Best Regards, David

  • Great review and introduction for me, since I have never heard of ORLOV before. The scent sounds amazing! I live in the US, thanks for the draw.

  • It was great to find out about the backstory behind Orlov Paris– that a couple with compatible fragrance tastes approached a specific perfumer they already liked, and one is a gemologist, makes it clear there is a vision with great attention to detail behind the line.

I like the description of the intoxicating dark chocolate patchouli! Sandalwood, check, gourmand, check! Star of the Season sounds like a winner!

I have only read about Orlov Paris here at CaFleureBon.

I adore sandalwood and patchouli, and Sebastian always makes the fragrances he reviews seem so fascinating, so I’m dying to try this. Since I have no idea when I would be able to make it to Bergdorf Goodman in NYC, I’d love to win this! I am not familiar with any Orlov Paris scents. I guess I coukd cure that with a trip to NYC …I’m in USA.

  • Great review Sebastian. I had the opportunity to try Star Of the Season and I’m completely blown away with this fragrance. With no doubt it one of the best release of 2015 in my opinion. Like Sebastian said this is one of the best sandalwood fragrance that I ever tried in my entire life. No just the sandalwood were done with perfection, with that creaminess, but the vanilla and patchouli are also magic players in this game. When you think that this one goes to the gourmand side like dessert, the floral notes come and makes fragrance sexier and wonderful.

  • Sandalwood , vanilla , orange blossom and patchouli + nice presentation and it’s make by great Dominique Ropion – i’m in for sure.
    Very good review as allways.

  • I enjoyed hearing about the fragrance from Sebastian. Especially the patchouli notes in this one. Sounds great.

  • Santa Batistini says:

I loved this review about Star of the Season. It’s the first time I saw a review about a fragrance made by Orlov Paris, but it is not the first time I heard about the brand. My discovery was precisely by the advertising here on top of the Cafleurebon website. The bottle called my attention instantly when I saw the advertising and I was with great expectation about this house and now after Sebastian’s review, I’m really impressed.
    I’m in the US.
    Thanks

  • I.WANT.THIS! LOL Great review – my favorite part – it seems we share a love of sandalwood and clove. Cinnamon? Caramel? Patchouli? Rose? I’m in. And the bottle – to die or kill for! I live in NYC but this is my first exposure to the brand.

  • Loved hearing the back story again on Orlov Paris… I do adore M Ropion’s distinctive flare in his creations. Sandalwood is one of my favorite wood notes

  • Pauliepeanuts5 says:

Hey, I am Paulie from NYC. Hope everyone had a great holiday and/or Merry Christmas. I think you chose the perfect guy to show case a classy scent because Sebastian is a classy guy. I think everyone would agree with that! More importantly I like his taste. Scent is subjective so the key is for a reviewer to describe what he is smelling as best he can and create an interest in his audience by his experience and descriptions. Usually when Sebastian is really into a scent, I am end up liking it as well.. and I am sure this one would be no exception… Thanks for the ultra generous giveaway!

  • Star of the Season should be a real star according to this review. I love fragrances that are creamy and this one sounds to be the perfect scent to the winter. I gonna put Star of the Season on my ‘must try list’. Thanks to Orlor Paris for the draw and thanks to Sebastian and Cafleurebon.

  • Thank you for the review – this scent sounds so opulent! I really enjoyed hearing about the connection between Dominic Ropion and Orlov Paris. I first heard about the house here at CaFleureBon but I’ve yet to sample their scents. This one sounds particularly appealing, with the gourmand notes. Iris is a favorite note, but most of my iris scents are cool and aloof – I’d love to find a more gourmand iris to love! Thanks so much for the review and the draw! (I’m in the US)

  • I’ve never heard of ORLOV Paris before. It was nice to hear a more information about the company. Thank you for the chance & happy new year!

  • Living and Learning. Thanks Sebastian for this amazing review. I’m very impressed with everything that Sebastian said. The bottle looks gorgeous and luxurious. The price tag is a little high but I think that Orlov gonna compete for space with by Kilian, Amouage, Creed, Xerjoff, Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777, Clive Christian and Roja Dove.

  • Paramedica SP says:

Wow this is the first time I heard about Orlov Paris and I’m impressed with the story behind Orlov. Would be a pleasure test this fragrance I love sandalwood based fragrances and I’m sure that Dominique Ropion made a great job creating this fragrance as always.
Thank you for the draw and happy new year!

  • love the review! makes me want to say a prayer to win this giveaway. the history of the brand is tres chic. i am a huge fan of spicy, intoxicating fragrance and this sounds like the perfect blend.

  • I love Sebastian’s review of Star of the Season, as with all of his other reviews. I was intrigued at how he described the fragrance’s complexity with the creamy edge of the cinnamon and vanilla notes with the sandalwood. What also caught my attention was when Sebastian mentioned how the rose note has more of a fruity bite to it to bring more depth to the fragrance. I would be delighted to give Star of the Season a try!
