Roja Dove's Imperial Collection pays homage to empiresRoja Dove Parfum's's Diaghilev, which  was inspired by the Ballet Rousse, and now NÜWA  debuts as the second perfume in the collection devoted to legends.

NÜWA is the fabled Chinese Goddess who is said to have created man and women. She is the Goddess of wealth, prosperity and mercy. According to legend, NÜWA filled all flowers with fragrance. Roja Dove spent 27 months to complete this perfume, which respects Chinese tradition of subtlety and balance. According to Mr.Dove NÜWA  is  "a liquid narrative that will seduce the soul, with the scent of leather, flowers, moss, herbs and spices". The flacon stopper, the leitmotif of Roja Dove Parfums, is hand set with fourteen swarovski crystals is the deepest ruby red; the color of joy good fortune and happiness associated with celebrations and weddings. • The basenotes read like the list I’d bring to him for a bespoke fragrance, and the heart is filled with my favorite notes (albeit the blackcurant bud seems kind of curious here).

And as far as the cost, eh…. I’m sure it cost a pretty penny to produce and his creations are always so opulent that a little dab’ll do ya anyway. I’ll hunt down a sample to cherish and be glad I am able to experience it.

In a world full of perfumes that mostly smell like the shampoo aisle at the grocery store, I’m thrilled that a few people are still willing to make fragrances in the grand tradition!

  • Fazal Cheema says:

many people compare Diaghilev to the vintage Mistouko extrait and consider it the best from Roja Dove..hopefully NUWA will up the ante

  • Another Roja I will covet! I have a beloved decant of Diaghilev I wear on special occasions.

  • Last year on a short trip to London I made sure to work in a trip to Harrods to sample this line. I should have researched, though. The choices were a bit overwhelming!

  • Just received a sample and spritzed. I’m in heaven. It smells like a vintage from yesteryear on my skin. Definitely will purchase one from Tom at BG.
