New Niche Perfume: Jardins D’Ecrivains Junky -William S. Burroughs

jardins decrivains junky perfume

Perfumer Anais Biguine of Jardins D'Ecrivains is launching a new fragrance Junky, which was inspired by the semi- autobiographical first novel by Beat Generation American writer William S. Burroughs. Junky was written in 1953 during the height of the McCarthy era when known drug users were as reviled as Communists. The book was so controversial he wrote it under the name William Lee.

Junky was composed to be a unique fragrance, complex and unashamedly different using fresh hemp in the opening and the jus is a pearlescent grey.

  • I am not familiar with Jardins D’Ecrivains, but have heard great things about La Dame Aux Camelias. This sounds interesting, maybe I’ll try to sample both fragrances.

  • I’m excited about this new Jardins D’Ecrivains. The writing of William S. Burroughs is very special to me and I’ll have to seek this one out.

  • Hope you guys will be reviewing this one. I can’t picture what it will smell like, with the hemp.

I would be truly interested in why these notes were chosen. They do not jibe with what I think or know of Burroughs or his writing. Still, I’m intrigued and hope you review it.

  • I’m going to have to try this one just because the idea of a William Burroughs fragrance is so out there. 🙂 Plus I want to tell my day job coworkers “Junky” when they ask what I’m wearing.

  • This sounds really interesting. Love to have a sniff of this one. I’m fascinated by fragrances inspired by books.
