Managing Editor Mark Behnke was one of the first perfume bloggers to write about Blood Concept back in 2011 when he met Giovanni Castelli and Antonio Zuddas at Esxence. Noted fragrance specialist Michael Edwards told us it was one of the most interesting new finds of the show.

The concept of course was that each blood type represented the ascent of man throughout the ages, from caveman to modern days,  with a corresponding fragrance  Subsequently, Blood Concept introduced +Ma and Red + ma, but neither were as  innovative as the original concept.

The four blood groups 0, A, B and AB are back, and this time they are Black.  Blood Concept’s Black Series debuts four new fragrances: 0 Black, Black A, Black B and Black AB with a decidedly noir flair and will be introduced at Pitti Fragranze September 13-15,2013

 Black 0 – Identity animal
Snug and carnal beyond the conventions
Head: Yuzu,  Blood orange
Heart, Hemp Seeds Carrot
Bottom: Dark Woods, Amber, Leather Accord

Black A – Identity plant
Aphrodisiac potion with narcotic effects
Head: Ginger, Black Coffee
Heart: Mandragore, Angelica seeds
Base: Sandalwood, Benzoin, Amber

Black B – Identity nomadic
A dark and mysterious journey into the unknown
Head: Gun Powder, Earl Grey Tea
Heart: Rooibos, Hinoki
Base: Ambroxan, Guaiac Wood, Leather

Black AB – Identity mineral
A  Molecular dream
Head: Bergamot, Green Pepper,
Heart:  mineral notes
Bottom: White Woods, Musk
