New Niche Fragrance: Memo Paris Luxor Oud “The Perfume of the Pharaohs”

Memo Paris debuts Luxor Oud, the next addition to its Les Echappes collection. Luxor Oud is an an olfactive journey to the incredibly rich past of  Ancient Egypt.

“It is amazing to see to what extent Egypt and perfume seem made for one another. Take the pyramid: that stairway to heaven that took the pharaohs to the beyond and their divine destiny is a term that has long been (and continues to be) used to describe an olfactory path, the progression of an accord. Not far from Luxor, the pyramids stand watch. Something sacred, an elevation to the supernatural, a ceremonial act, would the pyramid also play a part in the creation of this fragrance?

The Nile, an ancestral communication route travelled by feluccas carrying boatloads of spices and plants, enabled trade to prosper throughout the region and gave the markets their flamboyant touch, their incredible opulence. Stalls bursting with scents forged a vibrant olfactory culture.

Oud wood (agarwood)  slips into  Luxor Oud like a welcome reminiscence. And in more than one way: while it recalls the scents that carried prayers up to the gods, oud also refers to a pear-shaped musical instrument with entrancing accords, similar to a lute, which was popular with the pharaohs and is depicted in painted scenes.”

Notes: Oud, rose, essence of mandarine, red berries, rose, cypriol heart essence, ciste absolu, patchouli essence and tonka bean

  • Ok another perfume to add to my ever growing list
You guys kill me with some of these new fragrances

  • I just sniffed my first Memo (Siwa), which is gorgeous. I’m eager to try more from this House.

(and I, too, am suffering from oud fatigue 🙂

    xoA

  • I have only sniffed Sham Sham from this house that coincidently was supposed to be an oud as well. The oud was hardly detectable but the overall composition was very nice. I have been meaning to check this house’s other fragrances for ever. They offer very economical sample packs but not all of their fragrances are available to sample and the shipping they charge is more than the value of products.

  • All I am going to say is that I am a huge fan of this house…..with Siwa leading the way. Definitely would love to try this one.

  • I haven’t yet tried this line. I like that their scents are based on travel. Clearly there are some fans here, I’m excited to find out why!

  • I’m in love of MEMO it is a beautiful smell and exitante,I use a different one depends my mood and always love and I feel good and happy.:-)
