New Niche Fragrance: Etat Libre D’Orange “La Fin du Monde” – The Popcorn Apocalypse

la fin du monde filmee

We have just learned that a new Etat Libre D’Orange perfume was finalized today. The inspiration for the new scent created by Quentin Bisch, (a young talented perfumer who recently graduated from Givaudan’s training school) came from La Fin du Monde filmée par l’Ange ND de Blaise Cendrars.

I asked but how will it smell? “Because of its strong resemblance to a movie script, and the movie cover of the subject, the perfumer himself answered the question of the video teaser. How will it smell? “Like Pop Corn! Hence a strong explosive popcorn headnote, based on seed essences, and then something more sensual, with iris, sandalwood and vetiver. It is a true shared fragrance that is going to appeal to women looking for a delicate woodsy scent”.

Etat Libre D’Orange plans on a simultaneous launch at the Paris and London stores in October as well as the PITI 2013 in Florence, Italy.

  • Popcorn? Really?!
Fair enough ELDO don’t need another rough smoky thing as I expected in the collection – but surely diesel and burning and decay underneath popcorn would have been better to describe La Fin Du Monde… but popcorn on soft delicate woods? Oh man… D: Sucks.

Well, I love the smell of popcorn and I even like those buttered popcorn flavored Jelly Bellies, so I will be looking forward to trying this one. Thanks for the heads up!

i like afternoon of a faun but how come Secretions Magnifique is so popular..but secretions magnifique is a bold idea nevertheless and has influenced me in testing Lutens Bas de Soie which some say has some resemblance to Secretions Magnifique

  • I may not always like their fragrances, but I must always try them!

This one sounds fun, with the popcorn opening, but the iris and vetiver ought to be lovely.
