NEW FRAGRANCES: Michael Jackson Tribute and Legend “Thriller or Beat it?”

The father of Michael Jackson and a perfumer from Nice, Franck Rouas, have joined forces to launch a women's fragrance and a men's fragrance as an homage to the 'king of pop', which will debut in March in the United States

Nearly bankrupt before death, Michael Jackson is now worth his weight in gold. After the film This Is It and accompanying album, released in December 2009, the idea for a fragrance began to come together. According to sources, the new scents evoke his Californian home, Neverland. The idea for this project came from the artist's father Joe, who joined forces with Rouas (who divides his time between Las Vegas and Southern France). Franck Rouas and Julian Rouas Paris, have had a thirteen year partnership with a laboratory near Grasse in the Alpes-Maritimes.

It was during an autograph session last November at the fair in Las Vegas that perfumer Franck Rouas had the foresight to offer samples of a perfume "Versailles" to the family of the singer. Joe Jackson would have been delighted by the fragrance from Grasse, the perfume capital of the world. The motto "a fragrance for every moment", was inscribed as the logo for the perfumes. Julian Rouas Paris, was also "attracted by the fame of the Jackson family", says the CEO of the brand. The two businessmen quickly developed a range inspired by the sunflowers that grow at Neverland, particularly admired by the singer.

The result? A woody, musky masculine scent ("Jackson's Tribute") and a floral and fruity fragrance for women ("Jackson's Legend") that will be marketed in the month of March in the United States. "We already have a command of 500 000 bottles for the U.S. market, but I aim for a million by the end of the year, said the ambitious entrepreneur. European orders are not yet validated, but in Italy for example, they could reach 3 million units. "

Joe Jackson and Frank Rouas are equal partners overseeing global sales and advertising revenue. But "the royalties" will be donated to foundations set up by Michael Jackson. It is unclear what the charities actually are, to "help children, animals … ", said the perfumer vaguely.

Actress and singer Lindsay Lohan has, in fact, already contacted Frank Rouas to create a fragrance. For the starlet who spent a month in prison in 2010, he envisions a whiff of "the scents of Riviera, a little blue … With the name" Freedom ", he reveals.

Editor's note: well Ms. Lohan was arrested today for shoplifting… freedom would be a great  name should she be arraigned.

  • Oh boy, this does not bode well. This sounds like the perfumes are being rushed to market with only profit in mind, despite the mention of charities.
I remember the original Michael Jackson fragrance from years ago; it is now bringing very high prices on EBay.

  • Peel away the onion of Julian Rouas Paris and you will find that Julian Franck Rouas is a well known scam-artist. Julian Rouas Paris is a byword for scam, and Julian Franck Rouas is a con-artist by trade.  This creepy exploitation must be stopped.

  • thanks for exposing this.I agree with the previous comment.capitalizing on Michael jackson’s death is a tarnish on his legacy Julian Rouas Paris is a dead-end and Franck Rouas is a deadbeat. Update: Franck Rouas’ s shady perfume deal with Joe Jackson went down the toilet with an awful gurgling noise !!
