NEW FRAGRANCE: Sweet Redemption by Kilian “From Baudelaire to Jim Morrison” THE FINALE

Co mposed within the 'temptations' theme, 'Sweet redemption, the end' is the last chapter of Kilian's olfactive odyssey.

What if redemption was the ultimate temptation? The temptation to be redeemed after one has succumbed to the addictions of 'love and its prohibitions' and the 'artificial paradises', discovered previously in Kilian's universe. With one last burst of desire, 'Sweet Redemption, the end' is a chance to surrender to the perfume of the 'L'Oeuvre Noire' and be seduced by its power.

I nspired  on one hand by Baudelaire's homage to sweet and deep fragrances, yet on the other hand by the dark and mysterious poetry of Jim Morrison as he seemingly forebode his own demise. 'Sweet redemption, the end' is a final bow to these cursed poets, a final commentary on the irresistible charm of the forbidden fruit that tempts us throughout the 'L'Oeuvre Noire'.This redemption, this liberation, becomes even more desired when we learn of its intensity… the innocence of orange blossom… the roughness of the sour orange leaf absolute… the sweetness of the vanilla absolute. The dry down is composed with a strong balsamic almost religious accord built around myrrh, incense and benzoin.

This combination is meant to remind us that redemption is not a choice, but rather, a reward…unless it becomes our last addiction?

  • This is a huge lust for me, with nary a sniff! It has everything I love, including the references to Jim Morrison, a visionary as a musician, writer and poet! Now, I am inspired to explore more of Kilian!

  • The one fragrance I am actually looking forward to buying this year – without even sampling first.

It’s complete madness on my part. 🙂

  • My anticipation of this scent is all consuming. I will purchase untried, unsampled, unabashedly!
Kilian : Driver where you taking us?

  • I have adored Kilian’s Love ever since you introduced me to it, Michelyn. I wear it all the time. This new perfume sounds superb and having been inspired by two poets, it sounds right up my alley! I can hardly wait to try it.

  • Now this is a must have! This is one of the 2011 launches that I’ll really have to try immediately (the others being Jersey, 19 Poudre and Toit, which I bought on the day of the launch!). I love By Killian. So far, I have used up a travel bottle of Straight to Heaven and Back to Black. I think that I have to buy full bottles of both of those. They’re so good— but this sounds like it might even be better!

I love their presence. So many modern perfumes are ‘thin’ compared to the BK frags.

  • This is perhaps the best written Press Release for a fragrance ever! I personally think there should some major award for Fragrance copywriters. There is nothing like it anywhere, except in novels or Poetry! Sometimes so over the top ridiculous, but this one hit my sweet spot, and I will, like others, grab it at first chance, without nary a sniff!
