NEW FRAGRANCE: Six by Les Parfums Keiko Mecheri La Collection Hesperidés, Attar de Roses + DRAW

When I saw Keiko Mecheri in the Spring for tea at Takashimaya, NY, she mentioned she was working on six new fragrances; one that would explore her fascination with roses, one that would suggest a trip to Algiers during the 1940s, (where her husband Kamel was born), and a line of four summer citrus fragrances each evoking a personal journey reflecting her travels all over the world.

We spoke about the trend of ‘cologne redux’ and she explained that  La Collection Hesperidés doesn’t follow trends; each of the four would take on her own personal aesthetic, where East meets West and evoke her own travels. She chose California, Italy, Japan, and Spain, with each culture lending a distinctive character which is the signature of Les Parfums Keiko Mecheri.

WIN All  FOUR samples of La Collection Hesperidés. To celebrate the 4th of July, leave a comment onsite about Les Parfums de Keiko Mecheri or the new collection. Deadline is July 7, 2010

Mulholland: An olfactive immersion in the golden mythical era of psychedelia and hipness of the canyon of dreams. Warm, sensuous. Notes of citrus, petitgran. Oriental chord, hint of patchouli, sandalwood, amber.

Taormine: An escale in Sicily,a summer fragrance with a slight feminine accent. Warm, dry, fresh. Notes of Sicilian petitgrain, Calabrian bergamot, Italian citron, bitter almond, aromatic chord, Floral heart, leather chord.

Attar de Roses: The latest rose creation of Keiko Mecheri, one of her fetish ingredients to work with.

Taif roses of Arabia opens the composition. Shiraz roses and jasmine reveal its irresistible presence. A gentle note of rose petals water gives its soothing softness.

“Après de si ternes absences, parfumez le vent de mes nuits.”

Judging by the description, the Attar de Roses sounds dreamy. Rose has become, without my intention, my fetish note in fragrance.
I so wish KM scents were available in Argentina.

  • What a pleasure it was to meet Keiko Mecheri at Sniffapalooza in April with Michelyn! She has the same elegant presence that is captured in her perfumes, which I find as delicate and well-balanced as a beautiful watercolor painting. I'm delighted to see these six new beauties added to an already beautiful line.

  • I love the idea of travel collections. So many interesting olfactory pictures, memories, experiences that she has created for each place. And I've never been to any of them, so I'd love to try.

  • I love Les Parfums de Keiko Mecheri, Cuir Cordoba is one of my all time favorites, also love Ume, Oliban and Peau de Peche. Looking forward to try all these new Keiko Mecheri scents, they all sound lovely. Wonderful line.

  • I'm truly looking forward to these new fragrances by Keiko, she has a most unique aesthetic with a particular gift for woods.  Would love to sample these!

I was at Sniffa, but somehow missed meeting Ms. Mecheri. What a pleasure that must have been! All of her Les Hespirides sound marvelous. I am a particular fan of two of her older fragrances that are nearly polar opposites of each other: Scarlett, which on me is a sparkling, spicy orange celebration (think of making a pomander by studding a fresh orange it with cloves and pieces of cinnamon stick, and then tossing it into a bowl of equal parts brut champagne and gingerale… )  and Un Fleur de Peau – a gorgeous, powerful leather floral, that on me has the most compelling drydown: Clean human skin… but not MY skin.

  • Goodness they sure are coming out with alot of scents lately… although they do sound lovely =)

  • I like Ume and I had the chance to sniff at Attar Roses which I do like. I am very curious about Taormine in the line of 4 Hesperides

  • Thank you for all your comments on the latest fragrances. I wish everybody the best of luck.
For those I was able to meet at Takashimaya it was a pleasure to meet you.
Thank you for the great feature Michelyn. I still have that photo of us on my iphone!

  • The new scents sound intriguing!  And a focus on citrus is wonderful and refreshing.  I can never get enough of roses.

  • It is strange how just a smell can open a world. I love the idea of telling the story of a trip. I felt in love with one of Keiko Mecheri creation by smelling it on a friend of mine. For me, this scent embodied a bit of her charm like in the book by Suskind.  It was like finding back an old perfume you really know well, evoking only sweet memories. I had to really investigated for two years to find it back : first I couldn't remembered the name, started looking for it in Paris and couldn't find it. Then I made a trip to New York and knew that it was at Takashimaya. Just before going to the aiport to get back to Paris, I had to try them all to find it back. But it was impossible because I loved the smell on the skin and the strong and soft in the same time smell of clean, soap and skin. So I went into a cab and continue smelling the little piece of papers where I had put the perfume. And suddenly, it was here in my hand, but couldn't know again what was his name !! I had to wait again one more  year and when my future husband went back to NY I asked to go back to the store and imagined which perfume it was I loved by reading the description of the perfumes on the website of Keiko Mecheri and on some web forums.  Not easy but an interesting exercise. then I knew it was Loukoum. I am wearing it and there is always someone to say I smell good. I am looking forward discovering these new travels. Thank you Keiko Mecheri for all this dream !

  • Being Dutch it is hard to find Keiko fragrances because they are not sold here…but thanks to my husband I have them now from all over the world..Ume and Iris Poupre from Houston, Hanae and Grenats from New York, Peau de Peche from Italy and Cuir Cordoba from Germany. So Keiko reminds me of travelling/holiday everytime I wear these fragrances…and that is why I would love to try La Collection Hesperidés, only fragrance can recall such a memory!!

  • I like Keiko fragrances so much. I have several samples and love almost all of them. I'll be glad to try her new scents. Thank you.

  •
Wow, these sound lovely. I have only experienced a few samples from Keiko Mecheri, but enjoyed those very much. I like travel theme topics (for example those lovely scents from L'Artisan) and variations of a common theme (in particular the theme lines from Comme des Garcons) … I would love to try the new Hesperides line from Keiko.

  • I discovered Bois des Santal in Stockholm last year. The scent is incredible. I felt it was made just for me. I wear it all the time. The new scents sound intriguing and I would very much enjoy trying them. Thank you.

  • Hi! I' m a fan of Loukhoum, Loukhoum Eau Poudrée and Genie de Bois! I'll be glad to try new scents from Keiko!!
    Federica

  • I bought Damascena several years ago from a little boutique in my town.  After the store closed I had nowhere to buy it so searched the internet and just got my second bottle.  EVERYTIME I wear it I get compliments and I feel so special.  I am obsessed with roses and can't wait to try her new Attar de Roses!

  • This collection sounds worthy of much acclaim. I LOVE Oliban, my husband buys it for me every year.

  • when you get to know keiko mecheri's perfumes you learn to travel with your mind while staying at home, each perfume tells you different stories, reminds you different places. I became everytime more curious to know each fragrance, to discover what it could bring me in terms of emotions and feelings….this is the power of keiko mecheri!

  • Many perfumes of Keiko Mecheri were very interesting to test, and I could wear all that I tried: Ume, Oliban and Loukhoum. I would love to try the Hesperides collection, I am addicted to citrus-based perfumes these days-and my tastes are more lighter-fragrance oriented-these sound perfect! Especially Tarifa, mmmm!
