New Fragrance: Parfums de NICOLAÏ MUSC MONOÏ “Patricia de Nicolaï’s Summer Beach”

A beautiful non-animalic Musk perfume can be hard to find; Parfums de NicolaïMusc Intense is one of my favorites. In my interview with Mme Patricia de Nicolai it was one of the most challenging fragrances for her to create. I am looking forward to the June 4th launch of Musc Monoï, a new ‘Eau de Toilette’.

‘For many years I have been in love with the famous Ambre Solaire oil’ explains Patricia. ‘I always wanted to create a fragrance from which I can evoke the wonderful smell of sunny tropical beaches’ continues the perfumer who is celebrating this year the 25th anniversary of her brand. ‘A fragrance with a powerful sensuality that smells on your skin like a hot summer day was my main obsession!

For Musc Monoï, the amber note of Ambre Solaire has been softened with a more modern musk facet. Combined with the benzyl salicylate molecule associated with ylang flower, Musc monoï combines soft white flowers of jasmine, magnolia and neroli with the sensuality of coconut,  which gives Monoï perfumes their characteristic exotic aroma.  Mme. de Nicolaï balances the composition with a salty marine note and  creamy sandalwood.

I too am a fan if musk intense and now just read your amazing interview
This is on my must have list

  • I’m always looking for a suitable, and gorgeous, scent for summer. This seems to fit the bill!

    Lovely review!

  • I will try anything by Patricia de Nicolai! Her Musk Intense is also one of my favorites. Musk Monoï sounds lovely for summer, soft but complex, beachy but elegant.

  • This sounds so lovely. I like coconut combined with those heady tropical florals of ylang ylang and jasmine. Makes me want to grab my swim trunks, surf board and head off to Hawaii!!

  • Who can resist such a luscious fragrance? I can’t wait to try it (it seems this is officially the year of monoi-based scents, yay!!).

I just read your January article and like that Mme de Nicolaï recalls the Shalimar that her mother wore as one of her first fragrance-memories. My grandmother wore While Shoulders and I know what she means. I would like to try her musk scents.
