New Fragrance: Memo Paris French Leather “What is Being French all About”

memo french leather perfume

Cuir Nomades Is the name of the collection of Memo Paris fragrances that were introduced in 2013. While the brand’s inaugural collection Les Echappées was rooted in the mystery of a destination, Cuirs Nomades explores leather's history and its many facets.  Each fragrance is an exploration of different olfactory interpretation of leather’s many landscapes.  Memo‘ adds French Leather to its travel trunk, the third in the series that includes Irish Leather and Italian Leather.

IFF perfumer Aliénor Massenet  the de facto in house perfumer for Memo Paris collaborates once again with Clara Malloy in creating an atmospheric tableau:  “What is being French all about? Being deceptively casual. Not quite nonchalant. Leather that rises up beneath the rose. A sparkle in the eye. Style, even offhand. Having a table of choice in a favourite café. The smell of suede inside a handbag. A certain idea of style. Talent. Just one cigarette. Lime. Faith in one's destiny. Taking trivial things seriously. Knowing how to combine opposites. Knowing the name of each bridge in Paris. Cedar. Learning to hide one's thorns. The glimpse of a shoulder. Charm. Never being totally lost. Inventing ancestors. Well-placed beauty spots. Pink pepper. Improvising. Being right. Knowing the right moment to undress. Musk. Kissing.”

Rose, lime and suede are the key notes. French Leather also includes notes of pink pepper essence, juniper essence, clary sage essence, cedar essence, styrax, resin, vetiver,  and musk

I’m not typically a leather fan, but this review makes me want to slather myself in this juice right now and declare myself French!!! Great article and thanks for the info.

Love the writeup. I think I’ll pull out my sample of Memo Manoa… totally different but same house. I’ll be on the lookout for this one, thank you for the heads up!
