One of the biggest buzzes when we were at Esxence 2014 was the relaunch of the once renowned perfume house, Le Galion. Originally founded in 1930 by Prince Murat, it was sold in 1935 to perfumer Paul Vacher, already well-recognized for creating Arpège with André Fraysse in 1927. With his direction and perfumery skills, he created the iconic Sortilège, the signature scent of The Stork Club in the 1930s, until  Le Galion fell into decline in the 1980’s, (after the death of M. Vacher in 1975).  Creative Director and new owner Nicolas Chabot resurrected this House and has steadily added to the collection mixing old  formulas with original compostions.

Today in Paris, LE GALION introduced two new original fragrances: LE GALION Cologne and Le GALION Cologne Nocturne composed by Master Perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux of Givaudan.   Rodrigo has a close connection to the House; his mother wore LE GALION Sortilège and he has a strong respect for  both the past and the present.

According to Rodrigo Flores-Roux, “Cologne is a green citrus floral inspired by an idle afternoon I spent in the Hotel de Russie in Rome, smoking cigars and sipping martinis”. Notes include crisp galbanum, orange flower water and juniper.

Cologne Nocturne is an ambery lavender with a special backstory. While Rodrigo was in Berlin with his fiancé and Nicolas Chabot, they all spoke about their love of lavender. Cologne Nocturne was the result; a personal fragrance, homage to both. Notes include: bracing lavender, smooth cedarwood and dusky amber.

Price and Availabilty to be announced
