NEW FRAGRANCE: L’Artisan Parfumeur Batucada – Sound of Brazil

L’Artisan Parfumeur introduces a new Eau De Toilette… Batucada… that transports us to Brazilian beaches and was created by les nez (French and Brazilian) Karine Vinchon Spehner and Elisabeth Maier. Batucada is a reference to a very popular, sensual dance similar to the samba with a African influenced Brazilian percussive style.

Batacuda opens with lime, cachaça and green mint, ingredients you would find in the famous Caparinha drink. Then it’s time to dedicate your senses to the exotic flowers of summer, with a heart of ylang-ylang and tiare flower… nunances of coconut water and an iodized aquatic note complete the composition.

 

 

 

It’s great to see that the House of L’Artisan Parfumeur continues to open the door to women perfumers such as Karine Vinchon and Elisabeth Maier. Karine was behind the creation of « Cœur de Vetiver Sacré », a wonderful, smoky and spicy vetiver, very complex and so wonderful on both men and women skin. Not always easy to follow in the footsteps of many of the House's “historical creators” such as Jean Laporte, Anne Flipo, Olivia Giacobetti, Jean-Claude Ellena or my magic man ( homem mágico- Bertand Duchaufour).

Batucada will be released in the first days of October, as an Eau de Toilette available in 50ml and 100ml.

    I wonder, does it mean they will be still producing 50 ml bottles? I read somewhere recently that L’Artisan Perfumeur had plans to go “all 100 ml” route.

    This sounds wonderful!! And just in time for our warmest weather in SF! Hopefully they won’t wait until dead of winter to get it to my Barney’s. Maybe I’ll get a sample from Luckyscent when they get it in.

    Undina, I feel like that’s the trend at L’Artisan as well, although the thought of *ONLY* 100ml bottles is annoying as heck.

    Seems to be inconsistent. I’m not sure what it could cost them to produce their entire line in both sizes. But by all means, reduce consumer options… that’s always good for business.

    As for Batucada, I’m definitely curious! (And M, it and samba are really styles of music, not just dances.)

    Joe thanks for adding that . I did see it’s music but the Company referred to the inspiration as the dance.

    As far as I know I have not heard officially anything about discontinuing 50 ml and in fact they sell sets of small sizes in coffrets
    We try not to speculate and we
    hold stories until we have facts

    Have you tried this, Michelyn? I am wondering how prominent the mint note is. It’s my least favorite note after tobacco, but the rest of the scent sounds lovely!

    This was completely outside my radar. I am curious about this as well. I have Karine Vinchon’s Cœur de Vétiver Sacré and L’Eau de Jatamansi, which I love. She seems all over the place lately: Amouage Opus III, Memoir Man.
